* While he gets killed in the process, Dr. Frankenstein standing up to Dracula. Drawing a sword to threaten him, which is pretty impressive for a man who's clearly terrified.
** This is followed by the monster breaking loose from the tablet, throwing a huge piece of equipment across the room to knock Dracula into the fireplace, and then grabbing the body of his creator and charging out of the castle, severely delaying Dracula's plan.
*** Dracula then one-ups that when, a few moments later. He throws the lab equipment ''back'' across the room, [[OutOfTheInferno walks out of the fireplace]], and looks mildly annoyed as he reaches up to fix a strand of his hair. And while all this is happening, his scorched flesh regenerates until he looks normal again.
** Igor also gets a villainous, subtle moment by alerting the mob to the monsters' flight (causing them to do the work of chasing him down) by loudly pretending to yell out luck and encouragement.
* Van Helsing meets Dracula by stabbing a silver stake into his heart, causing him to stumble back a bit and stare in choking horror at the stake.
-->'''Van Helsing:''' (''spitefully'') Requiescat in pace. \
'''Dracula:''' (''[[NighInvulnerability stops choking and smiles at Van Helsing]]'') Hello, [[WhamLine Gabriel]].
* Despite spending most of the movie needing to be rescued, when she's been kidnapped by the last of Dracula's brides and is about to be sucked, [[DamselOutOfDistress Anna]] saves herself with this exchange.
-->'''Aleera:''' Anna, my love. It is your blood that shall keep me beautiful. What do you think of that?\
[''laughs triumphantly, then screams as Anna catches a silver stake Carl throws to her and impales her through the chest'']\
'''Anna:''' I think if you're going to kill someone, kill them! Don't stand there talking about it!
** During the fight with the vampires she also has a good moment of stabbing one in the leg to get it to drop her in midair and managing to land on her feet (even in her heels) after a nasty fall through some tree branches.
* Van Helsing's transformation into a werewolf. Even Dracula was freaked out.
** The climactic werewolf vs vampire battle, especially the moment where Werewolf!Van Helsing sharpens his claws on a metal surface and shows them to Dracula with a glare that means business.
* A flying vampire bride vs Van Helsing armed with an AutomaticCrossbow. Once it's been dipped in holy water, the fight becomes a whole lot shorter and one-sided.
** Carl also deserves credit for, whether accidentally or not, getting the vampires to expose their weakness. He waves a bottle of holy water, and Verona swoops out of nowhere to get rid of it, confirming to him and Van Helsing that it will work, and Carl quickly takes note of the nearby church.
* The reveal of Dracula's true castle.
* Frankenstein's Monster smashing in through a window, flattening the last of Dracula's brides as she's about to rip Anna's throat out, before holding her off to let Anna get to Van Helsing.
* In the animated prequel, Carl gets an awesome moment when he throws his holy water gun into a pit of hellfire, cleansing it and destroying the undead threatening them.
** He got a ''stealth'' [=MoA=] in the original film, by shoving the Budapest party's fire-eater from behind, just enough that the unsuspecting performer set Dracula on fire. And did so discretely enough that Dracula apparently doesn't realize it's ''Carl's'' doing, but throws the fire-eater clear across the room for being so clumsy.
* The light bomb. At the very beginning of the movie, just before Van Helsing sets out for Transylvania, Carl tells him he's just finished it and what it does--it creates a blast of light equal to the intensity of the Sun itself--but doesn't know what they can really ''use'' it for, but he's bringing it with them anyway because he figures they'll know when to use it eventually. At the end of the second act, as literally ''hundreds'' of vampires are closing in on them at Dracula's summer home in Budapest, they find out ''exactly'' what they can use it for ("Now I know what it's for!"). Cue dropping the bomb on the ground, which creates enough light to clearly shine out of ''every opening in the entire building'', and there's nothing left of the other vampires but bones.
--> '''Van Helsing:''' Carl! You're a genius!
--> '''Carl:''' A genius with access to unstable chemicals!
* The whole scene of Carl and the cardinal showing off their inventions in the basement (AsYouKnow dialogue aside) feels like an affectionate ''Franchise/JamesBond'' homage, with some good {{Steampunk}} affects.
* Carl gets a couple more Moments, he's able to dodge Igor's attacks and a bit later an incoming wire fast enough to knock off multiple stone braziers on a very wet bridge. Before that ever happened, Carl mustered up enough courage to actually grab Igor and force him to start walking. For a cowardly friar, he's does have some guts.
* Aleera - who at this point is the last Bride after both her sisters were killed by Van Helsing - shows that the gloves have come off and captures Anna singlehandedly from right under Van Helsing's nose. She also seems GenreSavvy enough to fly high in the sky to avoid being shot at and wisely goes over a ravine to prevent them being able to follow her.
** Van Helsing also pulls his gun on her in town and she doesn't bat an eyelid, and shuts him down with a wave of her finger - reminding him that if he kills her, Dracula still has Anna and can add her to their ranks easily.
** It has to be said, Elena Anaya's entire performance as Aleera is brilliant - and she gave the role her all, even studying the movements of bats and persuading the director to incorporate many of her ideas. She's clearly having a ball playing her, and it's no surprise she's an EnsembleDarkhorse to many fans.
* Anna proves GenreSavvy when Aleera scares her and Carl in the room with the werewolf cure, which they're trapped in. As Aleera is too busy cackling, she pushes the jar containing the cure over, burning Aleera's face with the acid and then throwing the remaining acid onto the bars to melt them, sending Carl off to help Van Helsing, knowing Aleera will be too occupied with her to stop him.
** She also does an impressive run up the wall to grab a torch, backflip onto her feet (in heels!) to brandish the torch at Aleera.
** And when Carl is trapped on the bridge between towers, Anna swings from one tower to the next, having Carl throw the cure to her and catching it in mid-air. Let it also be said that she jumps from one cable to another and ''then'' catches the cure. She only doesn't make it to the tower because Aleera intercepts her.
