2* In the beginning, Pi tries to make his nickname stick so people will stop calling him "Pissing". It doesn't work at first, but once he shows how far he can list the numbers of Pi, the nickname sticks.
3* Richard Parker killing the hyena, after it killed Orange Juice the orangutan.
4* The part when that giant whale jumps and throws the boat away. It starts with a magnificent view of the boat in the middle of a luminescent ocean at night. Suddenly, a dark shadows starts to appear in the water and grows more and more until it jumps. And is gigantic and made the boat--and by extension, the viewer--feel like an insignificant ant for a second.
5* Book example: Pi's fear of the hyena all but vanishing when he realizes Richard Parker is still aboard. Faced with the ultimate threat of a tiger, he no longer bothers feeling threatened by such a lowly, disgusting animal, contemptuously declaring it an "ugly, foul creature", and borderline-reveling in the fact that sooner or later, [[KarmicDeath it will feel what it's like to be helplessly mauled by a merciless superior predator]].
