* The friggin' cover art. [[http://pwned.com/userimages/1233861548-left4dead_cover.jpg Both]] of [[http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/b/ba/Left4Dead2.jpg/250px-Left4Dead2.jpg them]]
* From the Zombie Survival Guide trailer:
-->'''Nick''': I have not... come this far... to die now.
* Zombie Genocidest. End of story.
* In the [=L4D2=] trailer "and when we run out of bullets..." -cue chainsaw reving up-
** "... they gonna wish we hadn't."
* How about Coach's grandmother, during the trailer for the second game?
** "Last time I saw my grandmother, she asked me, 'Was I still a praying man?' I told her, 'Yes ma'am.' 'Well,' she says, 'pray harder, 'cause it ain't workin.' "
* Coach contacts the military, who ask him if he's encountered the infected. His reply: "Encountered?! Boy, I am covered in zombie blood and puke, and eyeballs, and twenty other parts I don't even recognize! We are as immune as shit!"
* The entire intro sequence in [=L4D=]. Special mentions include Francis staring at the Tank, not flinching when it throws a car over his head, Louis responding to the Witch breaking her arm through the door he was blocking by spraying it with a Uzi for 7 seconds straight while yelling “How do you like THAT!”, Francis helping Bill to his feet while simultaneously killing an infected with a shotgun, and another one-handed while saying “Merry Christmas”, Zoey spraying a Hunter with dual pistols after shoving it off Louis with the latter crawling next to a car and finishing it off with a headshot from his own pistol with his left hand, the Tank’s entrance (smashing a car into the air, barely missing the survivors as previously mentioned), Francis aiming his Shotgun at the Tank as it rounds a corner while muttering “[[BringIt Come on, come on!]]”, and as the Tank grabs an infected and smashes it into Francis, Bill notices at the last second, and sprays his M16 at he Tank just before it raises its arms to pound Francis into the ground, and when the Tank responded by throwing a punch at Bill, he dodges and it hits the wall, and instead of the Tank being stunned, it simply lobs a chunk of the wall and hurls it onto the fire escape the remaining survivors were climbing, barely missing them.
* Have you ever killed a Hunter in such a way that he cartwheels back a few meters? Immensely satisfying.
** On the topic of Hunters, beating one to death with your bare hands in the first game. Guaranteed to make you think something along the lines of "I am a badass" at least once.
* Rochelle out-hating ''Francis'' in the trailer for the Passing. Doubles as a SugarWiki/{{Funny Moment|s}}.
* Each campaign ends with a finale calling for a rescue vehicle to pick up the Survivors. As the vehicle arrives (or the fuel is pumped in the case of the airplane for Dead Air, or fueled by the Survivors in the case of Dead Center), the Survivors must defend themselves against waves upon waves of common and special infected and fight multiple Tanks (at least two). Once the rescue is ready, the Director throws everything possible at the Survivors to try to kill them before they can board the vehicle.
** For bonus awesome, get all 4 survivors to the rescue vehicle alive... after one of you stops to ''[[NoOneGetsLeftBehind turn around, drag your buddy back to their feet]]'', and mad dash to escape.
** Not to mention that you [[strike:sometimes]] face two Tanks almost simultaneously in "Swamp Fever"'s finale.
** "Dark Carnival" takes the cake, though. To quote Ellis:
---> '''Ellis:''' So we gotta [[ThePowerOfRock set up to rock]], and then fight zombies. What next, dinosaurs flyin' down from the sky shootin' lasers outta their eyes?
** In the community campaign "Death Aboard", you have to go to a house on top of a large hill, start up a machine, survive a horde and a couple of tanks, and then race to the bottom of the hill and escape in '''a hot air balloon'''.
* The second half of "Hard Rain" takes place during a ''hurricane.'' It's more than just a set effect as might commonly be found in other video games. Areas your group previously passed through unhindered are now flooded knee-to-waist deep, and the rain and wind kick up at intervals. As a result, the game reduces how far you can see. Likewise the game not only sends the bass booming with the thunder and lightning, but also turns down the in-game voice, meaning that if you want to say anything, you have to shout over the din of the storm. Many players use an out-of-game chat client to coordinate their assaults, however.
* The start of the finale in "Dead Air" features one of the most spectacular fake plane crashes ever.
* There's one for any player who manages to take down a Tank single-handedly (Hint: Boomer bile and either Chainsaws or Auto Shotguns).
* Pretty much anything a player does can be made awesome if it follows a well-timed melee attack to free himself from an incoming Smoker tongue. [[note]]To clarify, you're normally not able to attack with melee weapons while a Smoker is pulling you. Due to the delay between pressing the fire button and the attack actually occuring, however...[[/note]]
* In the new Left 4 Dead comic, "The Sacrifice", Bill [[DyingMomentOfAwesome dies after fighting three Tanks at once with nothing but an assault rifle and a molotov.]]
** To clarify, Bill has had an irrational hatred/fear of the Tanks, pushing aside everything else until the Tank is dead. He charges headlong into battle with ''3'' of them armed with only a molotov and an assault rifle. As soon as he hits the generator, a Tank punches him in the head, sending him flying. And as he's dying, he doesn't cower. Instead, he lights a cigarette and tells the Tanks to BringIt.
** In The Sacrifice campaign, you actually play through this, with any of the four survivors capable of doing it. Louis' final words are very badass, considering his normal fearful-yet-hopeful personality.
-->'''Louis''': Do ''not'' follow me!
** Bill's own internal monologue as he jumped off of the bridge is nothing but sheer awesome. It's less of a man leaping into a fight and more of a father intensely protecting his child. ''And he does this while charging headfirst into three tanks''.
** The "Last Stand" update has a combination of a CallForward to this moment while further emphasizing the messages of the game by having the finale of the map pit Bill against three Tanks at once and ''expecting you to win.'' But unlike The Sacrifice, the ''Tanks'' are the ones outnumbered now, because Francis, Zoey and Louis aren't cut off from Bill. And they're every bit as ferocious.
** The Last Stand update also gives Bill voicelines for sacrificing himself, and all of them point to one thing: this may be the end of the road for the old vet, but [[DoNotGoGentle he sure as hell ain't dying without a fight.]]
---> "You're too late. I'm ready. [[BookEnds I'll see peace back on Earth... if I gotta murder everyone of you bastards with... with my bare goddamn hands!]] ''([[DieLaughing laughs maniacally]])''"\
"My job's done. Let's see what you've got, you big dumb sons a' bitches!"
* Louis' first encounter with a zombie ends with him beating it to death with a toilet paper dispenser.
* Bill's first encounter involves him slaughtering his way out of an infected veteran's hospital [[strike:having just emerged from being under]] [[TheDeterminator resisting anesthetic out of pure power of will.]] His weapon of choice? [[DualWielding A pair of bonesaws]].
* Taking out a witch with a single shotgun blast.
** Even better, sneaking up on it with a chainsaw
--> *Weeping* Rrr? *Chainsaw revving* RAAAH-*Squelch* Hehe.
* As a Boomer, covering every survivor with bile and disappearing into the shadows without a scratch.
* Finishing a campaign only using a melee weapon, you get an achievement for it and it feels good as well. Bonus points for the frying pan, katana, and guitar.
* Keith. He may just be completely made up, but if he is real, then he's functionally immortal.
* Louis's method of killing a Tank in the Sacrifice comic? Drive a fuel-leaking truck ramming into it and jump out at the last second, leaving a trail of gas for Bill to light him up. The others finish it off by exploding a gas can in midair.
* Thanks to the Steam Workshop, it's entirely possible to make the most improbable of situations, and have it be completely awesome. For example, you can have [[VideoGame/StarWarsRepublicCommando Delta Squad]] fighting [[VideoGame/Halo3 Flood infected forms]] in the middle of the Dark Carnival concert with music from [[VideoGame/MetalGearRisingRevengeance Metal Gear Rising]] playing.
* When you get to the finale of the last campaign, just as you're about to get on the helicopter, a Tank will spawn and try to stop you. As of The Last Stand update, when Coach sees the aforementioned Tank, he will drop this absolute [[PreAssKickingOneLiner badass]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmG6tPFlRvU line]].
--> '''Coach''': You want to TEST me? [[TheDeterminator I been through HELL to get here!]] You are NOT the one to take me down!
** Even more badass are his lines for [[https://youtu.be/0lTf17ovkNc picking up downed survivors.]] These fully demonstrate just how much Coach naturally cares for his team, after all, they're probably the only friends he's got left.
* A group calling themselves "The Angels of Death" have various pieces of graffiti in the first game. Comprising of 7 members, their messages imply they have killed hundreds of zombies. They even gain an 8th member along the way. Their messages even berate other survivors because the Angels feel like they are clearing the path for everyone else (how correct they are isn't seen, but you can often hear gunfire in the distance). Unfortunately, one message in [=L4D2=] implies that only one member made it to the Lighthouse.
