!!''Half-Life 1''
* One of the Einstein scientists takes a SuperWindowJump out of his office. Even Gordon is suitably impressed, and notes that if the guy was ''that'' desperate to get out of the room there's probably nothing good in there. Too bad the scientist dies less than a minute later.
* One awesome moment that [[ThrowItIn wasn't in the script]]: Freeman shooting down a helicopter with an [=MP5=] in Episode 42.
* Gordon dispatching a squad of soldiers and a ''tank'' in Episode 45. Sure, that's awesome in and of itself, but compared to most [[OneManArmy One-Man Armies]] it's not all that impressive. What makes it awesome? He ''sings'' [[MajorGeneralSong "Modern Major-General"]] as he's gunning down everyone while yelling at them for not singing the chorus. Then halfway through, he improvises his own verse:

-->You know, this song is kinda dated. It's supposed to be ''modern'' major-general. I'm gonna add a new verse.

-->''"I can fire at a target and hit it at least half the time"''\
''"or graph out an electron path while using only numbers prime"''\
''"I calculate the fall rate of a bullet shot a thousand yards"''\
''"I perforate the thick heads of a hundred military guards."''

-->''"I can make a simulation of an atom bomb and build one too"''\
''"Or flank a dozen men and ambush ten of them right out of the blue"''\
''"From [[MoreDakka SMGs]] to [[StuffBlowingUp RPGs]], [[HyperspaceArsenal I carry quite an arsenal]]"''\
''"And skip around a war zone like a subatomic particle."''

-->'''Still no chorus!''' Okay, come on! Sing and I won't kill you... those of you that are left, I mean. ''(peeks around the corner only to see a tank)'' Ahhhh... ''(ducks back behind the building as the tank fires)'' Okay, there we go! ''(clears his throat and runs out past the tank)''

-->''"Every soldier out here wants to kill me for my curiosity"''\
''"I wage war on the whole damn world because of my tenacity"''\
''"In matters combat tactical and physics theoretical"''\
''"I am the very model of a modern Major-General."''
* In Episode 49, two soldiers attempt to kill Freeman with explosives. First, they set up a trap, blocking the door of the building Freeman is in with explosive crates, and chucking a grenade there when he opens it. Freeman avoids the explosion by jumping OVER the crates (and right past the grenade) and out the door, sprinting to a safe distance just before it blows. After this fails, they attempt to hit him with grenade launchers. Freeman dodges both shots, one after another, at very short range. He proceeds to head shot both of the soldiers.
* [[BadassBoast "This is why I'm such a good theoretical physicist. I solve problems that shouldn't even exist."]]
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27DRj7-vO64 It doesn't matter]] if it's a joke, the mere concept is awesome.
* [[CloudCuckooLander Regardless of whether it's true or not,]] the thought of that security guard in Episode 59 herding several Vortigaunts into a corridor and then smashing the door after them really is pretty awesome. Freeman is actually rather disappointed that he has to destroy the guard's Space Rancher scenario.
* Even though it's non-canon (unless he was right about the teleporters making clones), the fact that in Episode 61.5, Freeman gets the happy ending he's been hoping for throughout the entire series. The relief and glee in his voice as things clearly take a better turn really sells it.
* It took Freeman (and Ross Scott) ''seven years'', but he finally made it to Xen.
** And the fight with the Gonarch makes the wait worthwhile.
*** And THEN the fight with the [[FinalBoss Nihilanth]]. And he took the G-Man's offer. We can only hope that this means ''Half-Life 2'' in the foreseeable future.
*** Hope no longer. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbdo8VCAaV4 It's here.]]
* Gordon's reaction to the Gargantua blowing up counts as one: "Well, that's how the dinosaurs went extinct. ME!"
* Over the course of his fight with the Nihilanth, Gordon goes from absolutely terrified of it to actively taunting it. Man's got balls of ''osmium'' to do that.
** At the beginning of the final episode, he's too busy freaking out to really shoot more than a few shots at it. Then, after about ''two minutes'', he regains the presence of mind needed to start attacking it. His first insult, a "'''Fuck you!'''" directed at the Nihilanth comes at about '''three minutes'''. It's at about '''''five minutes''''' into the fight that Freeman begins to taunt it the way he taunts everything else, teleporting back to the area where it is because "him seeing me again should at least piss him off". In five minutes, Freeman goes from screaming in terror [[HesBack back to his normal self]], and in less time, he begins to truly fight back, hitting the Nihilanth with several grenade launcher blasts and destroying one of its crystals.

!!''Half-Life 2''
* After finally waking up in City 17, Gordon throws the soda can into the trash can from ''clean across the room''. Magic Johnson would be proud.
* Gordon is not even the slightest bit afraid when one of the guards (actually Barney in disguise) leads him into a torture chamber, and instantly notes that since the chair has no restraints, the guard is going to have a bad time.
* Episode 7 has Gordon providing a rather well thought out explanation for how Civil Protection and the Manhacks always seem to be ready for him wherever he goes. His theory is that the "Flashbangers" [[labelnote:*]]City Scanners[[/labelnote]] transmit his location to a computer system that reads and predicts his route and sends orders to the Cops.[[labelnote:*]]Civil Protection[[/labelnote]]
* Episode 8 shows the extent of Ross Scott and Toby Eichhorst's scripting abilities with a nice dose of StuffBlowingUp. Rather than go through a maze of pipes and turn a valve to raise the water level, Freeman accidentally shoots an explosive barrel while taking out a Manhack, which causes a chain reaction that [[OffTheRails ALMOST COLLAPSES THE SEWER]] and breaks a pipe, providing the necessary flood. Later, he tops it off at the electrified shipping container; rather than try to sneak through without getting zapped, he deliberately shoots the transformer on the nearby utility pole, causing it to explode in a shower of sparks and drag the faulty power line away, [[CuttingTheKnot shutting off the electricity altogether]].
* Episode 9 has Freeman explore the area behind the barn while trying to find the G-Man. This area was entirely custom-made for the video to make the plot more coherent; it actually looks like [[https://imgur.com/3aANxVW this]] in the vanilla game. It's very cool to see Ross and Toby modifying ''Half-Life 2'' just for Gordon's story.
* Episode 10 has another nice bit of modding at the beginning, with Freeman flipping the crowbar around so he can use it to hammer a couple of boards loose and nail them onto the ramp to cover the gap, allowing him to make the jump in the airboat.
* Episode 11 shows Freeman taking his anger out on the surrounding area when he can't figure out how to get the gate open without getting electrified. He shoots some explosive barrels, causing a chain reaction that breaks down the gate with a piece of steel attached to a wire. (Notably, this is the actual in-game solution, not a mod.)
-->'''Freeman:''' So there ''was'' a solution! I just need to blow up everything! The answer was in front of me this whole time.
** The last third of the episode has Freeman display some pretty impressive driving skills; not only does he avoid getting blown to smithereens by any of the ''several'' missiles fired at him, he also flawlessly dodges around other obstacles like a flaming barricade and [[CarFu a launched car]], while still managing to take out several Metrocops with CarFu. [[AchievementsInIgnorance While panicking.]] As he points out, he would've been lucky to survive braving the obstacle course and missile trucks in a ''tank'', much less in a rickety airboat. Special mention goes to him ''barely'' avoiding near-certain death when a missile whizzes just a few feet away from him; he doesn't even flinch... until after he's safe, anyway.
* Episodes 12 and 13 are the same as the previous three episodes, except the action is ramped up (and so is Freeman's panic and anxiety). Freeman barely even gets a minute to catch his breath, because he then immediately has to jump back into the fray. And yet he still manages to avoid getting killed at every turn.
* Episode 14 has another [[CuttingTheKnot nice bit of modding]] when Gordon reaches the contraption with the ramp; rather than go through the trouble of a weight puzzle, he simply blows up the obstructing wall with a grenade (taking advantage of the muddy ground being a rather poor foundation), then drives the airboat through the resulting gap.
** While on the run from another attack helicopter, Freeman sees it blow up a smokestack. This [[BadassBoast drives him to conclude]] that [[RealityBreakingParadox reality is starting to fall apart]] [[MakesJustAsMuchSenseInContext because he had yet to die already]]... [[{{Determinator}} and he decides to]] ''[[{{Determinator}} continue to do so]]'' [[ThePowerOfHate more or less out of]] ''[[ThePowerOfHate spite]]''.
--->'''Freeman:''' (furious) I FORGOT ME BEING ALIVE IS ENDING THE WORLD! AND YOU KNOW WHAT, I'M GONNA ''KEEP'' FORGETTING! [...] YEAH, I WAS DESTINED TO DIE A LONG TIME AGO, BUT I DIDN'T! SO NOW THE WORLD'S FALLING APART! THAT SMOKESTACK WENT, NEXT A RIFT IN THE EARTH IS GONNA OPEN UP! AND I'M NOT GONNA STOP, EITHER, I'M TAKIN' ALL OF YOU WITH ME! IT'S GONNA GET ALL [[Literature/TheLangoliers LANGOLIERS]] UP IN THIS BITCH!
* Episode 15 once more shows Ross and Toby's knack for modding levels, starting with Gordon shooting out the supports holding up a ramp that lets him [[DungeonBypass bypass yet another puzzle]], then truly shining at the part where Gordon originally had to jump through a hole at the top of a dam and fall to the river far below. [[ExaggeratedTrope Instead, they develop an entire pathway along the side of the cliff that Gordon travels until he reaches the Black Mesa East complex.]] It should be noted that this new pathway is [[DoingItForTheArt quite long and finely detailed]] to the point of convincing some commenters it was part of the original game, which just goes to show the length of work Ross put into it.
* While Episode 17 [[NegatedMomentOfAwesome doesn't give us the awesomeness of Gordon using the Gravity Gun to wreck the zombies]] due to him trying to use it directly on them when it can't do that yet [[SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome on top of the equal-but-opposite principle of motion knocking him back whenever he does pick up and fire an object]], it ''does'' show off how {{unfazed|Everyman}} he is by the NightmareFuel of Ravenholm; [[SeenItAll after all the madness he's endured]], he finds it almost ''relaxing'' to stroll through a GhostTown and pick off foes that can't shoot back. He even shows appreciation for the spinning blade traps set up by Grigori, playing "street limbo" to lure the zombies and Headcrabs into them.
