Awesome moments in ''Series/{{Cheers}}''.
----
* Sam buying back Cheers in "Cry Harder".
-->'''Sam''': Right. I, uh, OK I got eighty-five cents here.
-->'''Jim Montgomery''': ...I'll take it.
-->'''Sam''': Hey guys! I low-balled him!
** Adding to it is the reason WHY he got the bar back: Robin Colcord had been using Rebecca in order to get info on her company. When Sam went with her to rat him out to Jim Montgomery, the head of her company. Robin shows up, manipulates Rebecca into dropping the case and smugly shreds the evidence. Sam then finds out Rebecca is about to take the fall for everything and tells Jim the truth, which leads to Robin getting arrested.. and gets the bar as a reward for his selfless efforts.
** Ironically, it's Robin, in an earlier episode, who advises Sam to regain his motivation to buy back Cheers.
* In "Coach's Daughter," when Lisa (Coach's... y'know) tells off her fiance, a JerkAss who was only marrying her so she (his boss) would give him a new sales territory.
-->'''Lisa''': Roy, I don't want to marry you. I decided I want a man as good as my father.
-->'''Roy''': Wait, hold on here. What about Pennsylvania?
-->'''Lisa''': Roy, you don't get Pennsylvania, and you don't get me. You just get more and more obnoxious.
* "From Beer to Eternity":
** Diane Chambers, ''[[UnderestimatingBadassery of all people]]'', stuns all silent with a Crowning Moment Of Awesome, when [[YouGoGirl she saves the day bowling against Gary's Olde Towne Tavern]]--defending the honor of her sorority in the process. And while we're at it, [[BadassAdorable she tops it all off with a sweet moment of]] SophisticatedAsHell:
---> '''Diane:''' ''(Fiery Look at Gary)'' [[YourMother Your MAMMA!]] ''[Grins]''\
''[BIG cheer from the rest of the gang!]''
** Plus her [[GentlemanSnarker polite and classy]] TheReasonYouSuckSpeech to him earlier:
--->'''Diane:''' Excuse me, but you’ve ''obviously'' come here to belittle my friends. Why, I can only speculate--[[CompensatingForSomething perhaps you're compensating for some physical shortcoming]], I don't know.... But it’s ''tragic'' that you place such ''stock'' in some--[[MenUseViolenceWomenUseCommunication silly competition!]] What of higher attainments?--What of ''loftier'' pursuits?--What of ''art''...and ''philosophy''? What of ''music''?\
'''Gary:''' ''(Shrugs)'' [[InsufferableGenius I graduated magna cum laude in American Literature from Princeton.]]\
'''Diane:''' ''(Sweet smile)'' [[BadassBoast Oh? Couldn't make summa?]]
* Rebecca in her first appearance laid down the law for Sam when giving him a second chance.
-->'''Rebecca:''' Again, in baseball-ese - it's the bottom of the ninth, two out, two strikes... [[BadassBoast and you've got]] '''''[[BadassBoast no balls.]]'''''
** This seems like an odd thing to say to a pitcher, however.
* The Cheers gang finally winning the feud with Gary in "Bar Wars VII" during the final season.
** And the triumphant return of [[ConMan Harry the Hat]], still on the top of his game after a ten-year absence. Cheers wins the feud because Harry tricks Gary into ''having his bar demolished.''
--->'''Sam''': Did you do this? Did you- did you destroy his bar?!\
'''Harry''': ''(is uncorking a bottle of champagne)'' No, I didn't. ''Gary'' did. [[TooDumbToLive He's the one hired the bulldozer.]] Me? [[MetaphoricallyTrue I'm just an interested land developer, who's gonna... come up a little short on funds...]] Say about a ''million bucks'' short...
** And then you get the capper, with Gary's [[OhCrap discovery]]:
--->'''Gary''': ''([[AwfulTruth screams bloody murder]])''\
'''Harry''': [[BondOneLiner Excuse me, I believe that's the sound of my check bouncing.]] ''(ducks under the bar)''
* "The Boys in the Bar":
** Sam, when the regulars are trying to pressure him into ejecting two suspected homosexuals by threatening to find another bar.
--->'''Sam:''' Hey, listen, those guys are staying. Anyone else wants to leave, that's fine.\
'''Norm:''' Okay, Sam, you know what kind of bar this could turn into?\
'''Sam:''' It's not going to turn into the kind of bar that I have to throw people out of.\
'''Diane:''' [[PrepositionsAreNotToEndSentencesWith That's the noblest preposition you've ever dangled.]]
** The conclusion is also a CMOA, in which Diane reveals that the two men the gang hustled out of ''Cheers'' were not gay, and that the two gay men she said were in the bar were still there, and had a ball watching the gang behave like morons the entire time. She says as she walks away, "Isn't that right, guys?", and two of the regulars kiss Norm on the cheek.
*** To his credit, Norm concedes defeat--as only Norm can:
---->'''Norm:''' ''(pointing at the regular on his right)'' Better than Vera.[[note]][[http://kenlevine.blogspot.com/2013/05/the-cheers-episode-we-wrote-that-is-now.html That line]] was a ThrowItIn by George Wendt.[[/note]]
*** Even better, according to Ken Levine:
---->As I walked out of the room Ted Danson approached and said, “Don’t change a word.” I was a little overly defensive and didn’t appreciate the sarcasm, “Hey, give me a break”, I snapped, “We tried for something, okay?” He waved his hands. “No, no, I mean it. It’s great. Don’t change a word.” Needless to say I felt like a giant ass… but was relieved.
* Harry, of all people, helping Coach with a KansasCityShuffle to win all of Coach's poker winnings back from another con man. This made Harry the Hat a likeable EnsembleDarkhorse, instead of the seedy con man he could have been.
* Cliff has read that his medication can cause male breast enlargement:
-->'''Cliff:''' I see you all looking at my chestal area; stop it! I don't have breasts!\
'''Rebecca:''' Don't let them get to you, Cliff. I took that medication and the risk of side effects is very overrated.\
'''Cliff:''' Oh, yeah, Rebecca? How long ago did you take it?\
'''Rebecca:''' About twenty years ago; back when I was a little boy.
* In the episode "Sam's Women," Sam thinks Diane thinks that the only women Sam can get are all stupid. Diane asserts that an intelligent woman would never fall for his lines. They argue about it (and insult each other), and finally apologize. Then they have this conversation:
-->'''Sam:''' Well I'll be darned.\
'''Diane:''' What?\
'''Sam:''' Nothing, I just... noticed something.\
'''Diane:''' What?\
'''Sam:''' Well I guess I've never, uh, never looked into your eyes.\
'''Diane:''' Something wrong with them?\
'''Sam:''' No, I, ah... I just don't think I've seen eyes that color before. As a matter of fact, I don't think I've ''ever'' seen that color before. ''[Shakes head]'' Yes I have, yes I have...\
'''Diane:''' Where...?\
'''Sam:''' I was, ah, I was on a ski weekend, up at Stowe. I was coming in late one day, last person off the slope. The sun had just gone down... And the sky became this incredible color. I, I usually don't notice things like that. I found myself kind of walking around in the cold, hoping it wouldn't change. Wishing that I had somebody there to share it with. Afterwards I tried to convince myself that I'd imagined that color, that I hadn't really seen it, that... nothing on this earth could be that beautiful. Now I see I was wrong.\
''[Diane stares at him silently, near tears]''\
'''Sam:''' Wouldn't work, huh?\
'''Diane:''' ...What?\
'''Sam:''' An intelligent woman would see right through that.\
'''Diane:''' ''(Sadly)'' Oh-- ''(covering loudly)'' ''OH...!'' In a minute!
** Made funnier by Diane turning, grabbing one of the drinks on her tray and gulping it down, while Sam (barely keeping a straight face), feigns a disappointed "damn" knowing full well it worked.
* Diane gets in a vicious one during their breakup at the end of Season 2.
-->'''Diane:''' Do you know what the difference between you and a fat, braying ass is?
-->'''Sam:''' No.
-->'''Diane:''' The fat, braying ass would. ''[oh, snap!]''
* Frasier's speech to Sam and Diane in the ending sequence of "Triangle":
--> '''Frasier:''' [[TheReasonYouSuckSpeech You’re BOTH pitiful! I'M pitiful! We’re ALL THREE a pitiful ménage-à-BOOBS!]] Well, ''this'' boob is moving on--[[SorkinRelationshipMoment you know, you two may not have the courage to face it, but I finally do:]] Sam and Diane, you are now and have always been hopelessly in--[[GentlemanSnarker I GUESS the word for it is]]--[[OneTrueLove "love"...and unfortunately for you, like it or not, you always WILL be!]]
--> '''Sam:''' You are so--!
--> '''Diane:''' This is NOT--!
--> '''Frasier:''' I KNOW!--''I KNOW!!!'' ''({{Beat}})'' Now you’re gonna deny it! Even though [[EveryoneCanSeeIt it’s LUDICROUSLY obvious to EVERYONE around you,]] [[TrueLoveIsBoring you two will go on pretending that it’s not true]] [[ManChild because you’re]] [[DramaQueen emotional INFANTS!]] You’re in a living ''hell''! [[SlapSlapKiss You love each other. And you hate each other.]] [[BelligerentSexualTension And you hate yourselves for loving each other]]--''well'', my dear friends, I want no ''part'' of it! It’s time I just picked up my life where I left off. It’s time to put Humpty Dumpty back together again. So I’ll get out of here now, so you can just get on with your...''denial fest''. ''(Storms out)''
** It's so awesome, the StudioAudience responds with thunderous applause!
** This ''was'' to be Kelsey Grammer's exit after fulfilling his 8 episode contract, but the producers decided Frasier Crane was too good of a character to throw away, and thus, 19 more years of Frasier Crane ensued in one form or another.
* The final sequence of "Chambers vs. Malone". After Sam proposes to Diane in court (ItMakesSenseInContext...), Diane apologizes for putting him through the whole ordeal--and then promises not to hold him to the proposal. She then begins to leave--but...
--> '''Sam:''' ''Where'' are you going...? ''[Diane stops; turns to him as he rises]'' Y'know, you're not gonna get off that easy--y'know, you're gonna ''pay'' for what you put me through.\
'''Diane:''' ...What do you mean...?\
'''Sam:''' I proposed to you...you said "yes". Now they can stop me from ''killing'' you...but they can't stop me from marrying you.\
''(Pause. Diane stares at him. Sam smiles, beckoning with his finger.)''\
'''Diane:''' ''(Running to him)'' '''[[TearsOfJoy Oh, SAM!]]'''\
''(BIG hug--long applause from the StudioAudience!)''
** May also double as a SugarWiki/{{Heartwarming Moment|s}}.
* Diane's moment in Season 4's "Cliffie's Big Score", where she walks into the bar in a glamorous and sexy evening dress, [[HeadTurningBeauty to the delight of]] ''all'' the guys in the bar. Diane girlishly ''[[ProudBeauty revels]]'' in the admiration--understandably; she's the "popular gal" for the night!
--> '''Sam:''' ''[Straightening up as she heads over]'' Good heavens. ''Whoa''!\
'''Woody:''' Miss Chambers, you look ''beautiful''!\
'''Diane:''' Oh, thank you, Woody!\
'''Sam:''' ''[Leaning back again; admiringly]'' Doesn't she?
** Carla enters wearing a trashy LittleBlackDress of her own. Norm barks at her, which she eats up herself.
* In Season One's "Friends, Romans, and Accountants." Norm throws a lame office party at Cheers, and cajoles Diane into being the boss's date. When his boss gets fresh with Diane, ''Norm'' pulls him bodily off her, getting himself fired for his friend. Then his co-workers cheer for him.
* In "Bar Wars II: The Woodsman Strikes Back":
** Gary lets Rebecca steal a sample of his Bloody Mary, hides a video camera in Cheers, and uses the video of the gang tasting and complimenting the stolen Bloody Mary as his new commercial.
** Woody infiltrates Gary’s tavern, plants a fake note about a Bloody Mary contest changing times, pretends to deliver it late, fights his way past Gary’s cronies (who plan to tie him up upside down in revenge) and then impersonates a judge (expertly faking his voice and changing his appearance) to make Gary still miss the contest.
** Gary ultimately realizes Woody is a fake judge and waits for the real one to arrive, and after he is declared the winner and leaves, it turns out that ''that'' judge is also an imposter, who Carla recruited within minutes of losing the previous year’s contest. And she pays him with money she pickpocketed from Gary.
* "Bar Wars VI: This Time It's for Real" starts out with news that Gary sold his bar. The gang decides to haze the new owner, Frank Carpaccio, to continue the rivalry. Things quickly spiral out of control, though, and it turns out Frank has criminal connections. FBI agents end up taking Carla, Norm, Cliff, and Woody into protective custody. They're dropped off at a bus stop 200 miles away in the middle of nowhere, and left hungry, tired, and cold. A nearby pay phone rings, and it's Sam. After Carla reports the group's problems and frustrations:
-->'''Sam:''' [[SarcasmMode Oh, what a shame.]] Hey, listen, honey, [[ContinuityNod you remember last Halloween when you guys pulled that "hilarious" stunt on me, making me think that Gary was dead and that I was responsible for it?]]\
'''Carla:''' Yeah?\
'''Sam:''' [[WhamLine Well... gotcha.]] ''[laughs and hangs up]''
* The final sequence of "The Magnificent Six". Earlier in the episode, Henri challenged Sam to a contest to see who cam get more phone numbers - the experienced American ladies' man or the younger French ladies' man. With one minute to tie before the cut-off time, Sam approaches an attractive woman only for her to shoot him down, saying she just got out of a bad relationship and really isn't in the mood to deal with sleazy come-ons. Sam apologies and backs off. After Henri begins to gloat about winning the contest, the woman approaches Sam. It turns out that her line about just coming off a relationship was a test to see which men were gentleman enough to respect her wishes. She then calls over her two equally attractive roommates and tells them, to their obvious appreciation, that Sam is a proper gentleman AND cute. The episode ends with Sam congratulating Henri on his "victory" and leaving with the three women (whom, we are told, do everything together), as the rest of the bar chants "U-S-A! U-S-A!"
* In "Cliff's Rocky Moment", Cliff keeps getting pushed around by a guy who doesn't like his know-it-all tendencies. He challenges Cliff to a fight, and Cliff tries to bluff him by claiming to know karate, which no one believes but Diane. In the end the guy gives Cliff the choice to admit he's a coward and walk away, and he does...only to return to the bar after the man has left with a 2x4 and a brick. He demonstrates what he could have done to the man by kicking through the board with his bare foot, and shattering the brick with his head, impressing everyone. Then he privately admits to Diane that he's never taken a karate lesson in his life and would like a ride to the hospital. Even if he didn't know what he was doing, the mere fact that he didn't smash his skull open and cripple his foot is impressive.
* "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iR6ICOyOnEY We will, we will rock you!]]"
* The show's first major guest star was one of the most awesome moments of 80's television--Thomas P. "Tip" O'Neill, then serving as the Speaker of the House of Representatives, came by in a ColdOpen AsHimself. O'Neill, as one of the most beloved politicians in the country at the time, immediately gave the show a much-needed boost in the ratings--his presence shot the show to national recognition and helped get it a firm audience. O'Neill himself would later joke that his appearance "may have given them a little boost."
* Woody's role as an understudy for Moses in a community theater play and [[TheCasanova Sam's]] vow to God to abstain from sex [[https://youtu.be/zUfGAyK7uaU?t=374 unexpectedly collide in hilarious fashion]] in "Swear to God": Sam, [[ExtremeLibido frustrated with keeping said vow]], is about to break it (despite Carla's warnings about angering the Supreme Being) and dares God to do something about it. Cue Woody entering dressed as Moses....
-->'''Sam:''' [[SarcasmMode Come on, what's he gonna do]], [[TemptingFate reach down from the clouds and snatch me up?]]\
'''Woody:''' [[LargeHam HALT, INFIDEL!]]
