I don't care where they're from.") is an awesome and believable one for a hero like him. They summed up Cap's entire character in two sentences! Props also to the writers for averting AllGermansAreNazis in the second scene with Erskine and Cap before the procedure, too.

13	** Although it's overshadowed by Steve's courage, Dr. Erskine and Stark jumping to stop the procedure when Steve starts screaming in pain stands in sharp contrast to Schmidt's reckless disregard for not only his safety but Zola's as well when testing the Tesseract earlier in the film.
14	** Stark is also the first to react when Steve insists he can continue, and ''immediately'' continues the Vita-Ray process without comment, instead of trying to countermand Steve or let someone else make the decision.
15	* During boot camp, when Phillips tosses the fake grenade at the trainees as a SecretTestOfCharacter, Steve doesn't even flinch. He doesn't just jump onto the grenade, he curls up into a ball around it to ensure his body absorbs ''all'' the damage. This skinny, frail kid was ''fully'' prepared to perform a HeroicSacrifice without a second thought (compared to the JerkJock who cowers behind a truck), and at the same time vindicates Dr. Erskine's faith in him as the only candidate for the super soldier project.
16	** He's still skinny, though.
17	** And if you pay attention, one other person was moving towards the grenade too: [[ActionGirl Peggy]]. Made even more awesome as ''[[WesternAnimation/WhatIf2021 What If...?]]'' reveals that yes, she was ''every'' bit a suitable candidate as Steve was.
18	*** Even more importantly, it ''wasn't'' a SecretTestOfCharacter. Phillips was trying to make a point that it's physical ability that wins wars, so he was testing their reflexes and ability to react quickly to danger. He didn't even ''imagine'' that any of the trainees, least of all Steve, would so unflinchingly react in such a heroic manner.
19	* Also from pre-Serum Steve, his CuttingTheKnot moment with the flagpole.
20	* Also, Steve, when he is neither the Cap yet nor even recruited yet, stands up to the jerk at the theater, and is being brutally beaten, and still attempts to stand up to him, stating that he "can do this all day" when the jerk admonishes him for not giving up. Then Bucky manages to stop the fighting, and then counters the jerk and [[LiteralAssKicking sends him packing]] when the latter tries to take a swing at him.
21	** Don't forget that he says the same thing to the Skull after the "kid from Brooklyn" sequence. Despite all of Skull's gadgets and flowery speeches about how great he is, Steve can see Skull for what he really is - just another bully.
22	* Cap chasing down Kruger right after being treated with the serum. Barefoot. Armed with nothing but his just-enhanced body raised to the maximum human potential, his {{Determinator}} status, his knowledge of the Brooklyn street map, and his wits.
23	** Doubly so when you realize that, at this point, the only superpower he knew he had was above-average height.
24	** At one point, he runs over ''broken glass'' in his bare feet without even slowing down.

33	** Even better? Steve is blond and blue-eyed, while Schmidt, obviously, isn't. ''Steve is more of an {{Ubermensch}} than the actual Nazi,'' and you can bet Schmidt knows that.
34	** Also, a small one for Schmidt avoiding the VillainBall. As soon as Captain America shows up, he blows up his own base and escapes to fight another day. Of course, that doesn't last long...
35	* Any moment where Cap is acting as a OneManArmy, punching his way through hordes of Nazis and HYDRA agents, not to mention that entire {{Montage}} of him and the Howling Commandos systematically dismantling every HYDRA weapon and base they come across. Seven men manage to go to every [=WW2=] Battlefield and ''reduce entire bases to absolute rubble.'' Bases that are ''the size of modern airports.''
36	** Highlights of the Montage include Cap, without any warning, throwing his shield at a HYDRA sniper hidden in a tree. Also, Cap pulling a HYDRA soldier out of a three-story tank with one hand and throwing in a bandoleer of explosives with the other. The final shot of Cap jumping from the exploding tank in slow-motion puts an appropriately badass end to that montage.
37	* Steve Rogers is presumed lost and Col. Philips is about to lower the boom on Peg Carter for allowing this. Just then, Rogers returns to base, with 400 men, confiscated secret HYDRA weapons and invaluable intelligence that he rescued by himself. At that point, the soldiers, who were jeering Rogers on stage, now cheer him as he shows that he is more than a stage clown, more than a soldier, he is truly Captain America!

46	** In her [[EstablishingCharacterMoment introductory scene]], Peggy puts a rude and boorish soldier (who had been mocking Peggy for her British background and gender) in his place by knocking the soldier on his ass.

Even ''then'', Red Skull and Zola barely make it out, and have to tangle with Cap on their way. ''Schmidt was absolutely right.''

It may not be much compared to what happens later in the movie, but it nicely illustrates right off the bat that our BigBad is no ordinary Nazi.
78	* Heinz Kruger is pretty awesome. He sneaks into a top-secret project he knew about less than a day in advance, posing as someone from the State Department, causes a distraction by detonating explosives disguised as a cigarette case with a remote disguised as a zeppo, shoots Erskine, steals the last remaining sample of the serum [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qx4n3RtEAxs and takes off]], not slowing down even when Peggy shoots him in the shoulder. He's an evil Nazi spy, sure, but you've got to admire his dedication, and his dying moment when he kills himself with a CyanidePill to avoid being taken alive.
79	* The [=POWs=], who include future members of the Howling Commandos, get one. They charge unarmed at men with machine guns and disintegrator weapons until they gain a foothold. Highlights include Dugan knocking someone the fuck out with a running punch.

91	* Any moment with the [[BadassCrew Howling Commandos]]. Yes, even the bar scenes. The sense of unity in their diversity serves as a lovely metaphor for the Allied forces of World War II. Plus, y'know, the montage of Nazi destruction at the hands of only five men + Captain America.
92	* Peggy's entrance in the red dress. The bar falls silent and battle-hardened, boisterous soldiers are immediately dumbstruck when they lay eyes on this statuesque stunner.
93	** Bucky tries his regular pick-up lines on her when she's talking to Steve. Peggy acknowledges what he's saying, but she's using his lines as her own stepping stones to let Steve know that she is very much interested in him. At the same time she is putting down Bucky, she's using him to put moves on Steve. Bloody hell, the girl knows how to play pick-up.
94	* The sheer awesomeness of Red Skull's "come to Jesus" pre-invasion speech to the HYDRA troops is perfectly punctuated by the stirring music that accompanies it.
95	* An understated one: during Steve's one-man raid on the complex where the 107th is being kept prisoner, his main aim is to find Bucky. He finds him in a laboratory with a map showing all of HYDRA's places, and he probably did not look at it for more than a few moments before getting Bucky off the table and out of there. Yet, hours later, after a grueling fight, nearly dying in an explosion and guiding the 400+ survivors of the 107th through enemy territory in the middle of the night back to friendly lines, he still remembers all the features in that map with an almost pin-point precision, his comment about 'I just got a quick look' notwithstanding.

The first time, it's an indicator of who the villain really is, despite the fact that he looks normal... but on a rewatch, knowing his true plans coming not a few minutes later, you clearly realize that his dark look at the Nazi officers is less 'So you've discovered me', and more [[TranquilFury '...okay. I've decided that you're all going to die now']], without saying a single word.
97	** A minor moment for [[ThoseWackyNazis SS General Schneider]], who makes an impressive NonchalantDodge when Schmidt first attempts to shoot him with his Tesseract-powered cannon. He does not, however, dodge the next blast.

Unsurprisingly, it's a musical number written by certified Disney Legend Music/AlanMenken-- the composer behind, among others, ''WesternAnimation/TheLittleMermaid1989'', ''WesternAnimation/BeautyAndTheBeast'', ''WesternAnimation/{{Aladdin}}'', ''[[WesternAnimation/TheHunchbackOfNotreDameDisney The Hunchback of Notre Dame]]'', ''WesternAnimation/{{Hercules}}'', and ''WesternAnimation/{{Tangled}}''.
99	** It even averts being a BigLippedAlligatorMoment, since war bond drives like that were done in the war, and Steve being stuck in the show instead of fighting is an important plot point.
