5	* Bart, Charlie, and the other black railroad workers, when asked to sing a "Good ole' nigger work song", ultimately trick their white bosses into singing instead. First, they sing an awesome a cappella version of the Cole Porter song "I Get a Kick Out of You". Then when Lyle demands they sing "Swing low Sweet Chariot" then "Camp Town Ladies" instead, they pretend not to know it. This leads to the white bosses demonstrating by singing the song and dancing around like idiots, oblivious to the black, Chinese and Irish workers laughing, right when Taggert arrives and yells at them.
6	** And then, just to drive the point home about how clueless the bosses are, Bart and Charlie sing "Camptown Ladies" while going off on the hand cart.
7	* Bart giving a well-deserved ShovelStrike to a racist asshole who let him drown in quicksand.
8	* Bart and Jim playing chess. Jim shows off how fast he is by palming a chess piece so fast that it isn't even visible.

16	* The railroad workers volunteer to save the town in exchange for some land - when the town grudgingly okays but adds "but we don't want the Irish!", the black and Chinese workers won't have it. The town says "Aww, prairie shit...everybody!" Yes.
17	* The scene where Black Bart and the Waco Kid stand up to Taggart and his men at the railroad. After an hour of black characters passively accepting racial abuse, Bart tells Taggart to "watch that 'boy' shit, redneck." At that villains line up to kill Bart, there's real tension in that scene, complete with dramatic music, as if they might actually JustShootHim. And saving the hero is up to the Waco Kid, a character we don't quite believe in yet. He proceeds to blast the guns out of each of the bad guys' hands so fast it looks like he didn't even move. A brilliant scene on many levels.

20	* Bart riding out of the back lot after Hedley while the main theme blares may be the most heroic moment in the film.
21	* Brains over brawn, or when Bart stops trying to imitate the style of Creator/GaryCooper and instead takes the tactics of WesternAnimation/BugsBunny: Bart delivers a "candygram for Mongo." As he saunters out, the first half of the Looney Tunes stinger plays. Mongo opens the box and gets a powder blast in the face for his trouble. Then, as the screen completely fills, we get the other half of {{the stinger}}. The horse must have gotten a huge kick out of that.
22	* It can now be difficult to appreciate just how much this movie changed the entire western genre, because it did its job so well. Prior to 1974, westerns tended to present an overly sanitized look at the era, and in particular portrayed racism as at most the fault of a few singular villains rather than the widespread blight on society it was. And then this film shoved that fact in people’s faces so hard that ever since, the idea of doing such a LighterAndSofter western again is unthinkable. As [[https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=jzMFoNZeZm0 this video]] puts it, the true reason for the oft-repeated complaint that you couldn’t make the movie today is that we don’t need to.
23	* Along the way, the film gave Creator/CleavonLittle his greatest role as Sheriff Bart, one of the great heroes of the Western film genre. It's as well that Frankie Laine sang the theme in complete earnestness: after all, with Bart: "He conquered fear and he conquered hate/He turned dark night into day/he made his blazing saddle a torch to light the way!"
24	* Credit where it's due to [[BigBad Hedley Lamarr]]. When it looks like his plan has failed and he has no chance, he then goes on to recruit literally every single type of villain that he can think of. It didn't work out, but you might be forgiven for admiring [[TheDeterminator just how far he's willing to go when the chips are down]], even [[AwardSnub risking his Oscar nomination]]. And while [[NegatedMomentOfAwesome it's quickly negated by their almost immediate incompetence]], there's something awesome about Lamarr triumphantly and dastardly posing as he watches his army charge.
25	* The final battle provides examples for both Bart and Hedley Lamarr. Ordinarily [[DirtyCoward the bad guy running away]] is anything but awesome, but when Lamarr does so, [[NoFourthWall he literally leaves the movie itself]]. Then, Bart follows his lead, chasing him all the way to a theater showing his film. And while it's not commented on, [[FridgeBrilliance Hedley hiding in a theater showing his film may be a smarter move than you think, as it allowed him to see Bart was on his heels]]. Then, after Hedley tricks Bart into dropping his gun, he's still able to get the first draw anyway. And then, despite [[GroinAttack getting shot in the groin]], Lamarr still [[TheDeterminator uses his remaining strength to sign his name in the concrete in front of Grauman's Chinese Theater]].
26	* Bart stalling Lamarr's army with a toll booth. Sure, it could only ever work against a bunch of idiots, but in Bart's defense, he knew that they fit that bill.
