* AbortedArc: More of a severely postponed arc, at the end of the first Secret Origins Month, Linkara asks if the audience wanted to know HIS secret origin, and with a knowing smile implies that he'll shed some light on it next year. While we have since learned about where the character gets his abilities, the second Secret Origins Month made no mention of it.
** One of his live panel Q&As revealed that while he does plan to cover Linkara's origin story eventually, he won't have any storylines for Secret Origins Month #3, citing storyline burnout after the last few arcs he'd just finished.
** The DVD is finally is going to deal with origin.
** When [[spoiler: The Magic Gun]] stops working, Linkara mentions that he may have to seek [[WebVideo/SuburbanKnights Malachite]] for help. Malachite is never seen afterwards, though he is mentioned by Aplos.
*** WordOfGod is that Lewis considered filming a scene with Malachite, but he decided against it as it wouldn't have really furthered the story in any way.
** Lewis' breakup with Iron Liz put an end to their crossover storyline, though they remain on good terms and she made a cameo in the 300th episode giving an acknowledgement of this.
** At the end of the ''Batman: Jazz #1'' review, Jaeris sneaks into Linkara's apartment and steals Holokara's mobile emitter. This was going to play out in the conclusion of the Gunslinger arc, but Lewis run out of time while shooting. While Jaeris stayed with Linkara, he didn't return the emitter [[spoiler: and it was almost two years after he left before he finally did in the ''Ghostbusters II'' review. In a possible meta-reference, Jaeris mentions that planned to use it, but the plan never took off and he forgot to give it back]].
** Speaking of Jaeris there were originally plans for a storyline that would involve Linkara and co going into Jaeris' universe in order to help him combat the corrupt government that had taken over his world. However Will, the real life actor, got a job offer in another state so the storyline was dropped and [[spoiler:Jaeris' wife eventually came to Linkara's universe to pick up her husband and take him back home (after managing to defeat the evil government off-screen) with the help of a new anchor to acclimate Jaeris to his home universe.]]
* ActionGirl: Iron Liz would like to introduce you to her two friends. [[DoubleEntendre -ahem-]]
* AdaptiveAbility: [[spoiler:Mechakara]]
* AIIsACrapshoot:
** The "Zero Patrol" review.
** [[spoiler:[[RobotBuddy Pollo]], at least in one particular AlternateUniverse where he and the world's other sentient robots TurnedAgainstTheirMasters and decided to exterminate all organic life.]]
** Pollo is apparently offended by the stereotype, as he requests a review that showcases a good robot.
** In the ''Film/StarTrekIITheWrathOfKhan'' reviews, Linkara [[spoiler: asks Pollo if he will play this trope straight. Pollo responds by saying that Linkara has treated Pollo so well, he has no intentions of playing this trope straight.]]
** Linkara put a hologram of himself in his place to do his reviews for him while he's searching for a way to get his magic back. [[spoiler: However, when '90s Kid makes one rude cut-in too many (it's actually just the second & last one for the episode), Holo-kara ''phases his holographic hand into '90s Kid's heart'', and tells him that if he ''ever'' cuts in during a review again, ''he'll kill him.'' He spares '90s Kid, thinking that he got the message -- and he ''did''. '90s Kid is downright ''terrified'' of Holo-kara.]]
*** [[spoiler:Later subverted. It turns out that there was nothing "wrong" with Holokara at all. Linkara was beginning to go down the [[FaceHeelTurn path towards evil]] when Holokara was created, and since Holokara was basically a copy of Linkara's personality, he acted as Linkara likely would have acted if the Magic Gun/Mark had not intervened when he did.]]
** [[spoiler: NIMUE seemed to be starting to play this trope straight as of the ''Star Wars 3D'' review.]] Turns out it wasn't quite what it seemed to be -- [[spoiler: Vyce was corrupting her systems and gradually taking control. Once restored, Nimue was back to her usual loyal self... and quickly erased Vyce from the system, now that she was aware of his presence]].
* AllThereInTheScript: The name of TheHeartless helping Mechakara in his {{gaslighting}} (Dolorem) is only given in the credits of the episode.
* AlternateRealityGame: A minor example. As seen [[http://atopfourthwall.blogspot.com/2012/02/gameboy-2.html here]], [[spoiler:Pollo]] has started commenting anonymously on the blog [[spoiler:after losing his body.]]
** On the other hand, the garbled, anonymous comments apparently left [[spoiler: by the Entity]] during that arc were done by fans, and Linkara hadn't actually intended it to spiral into a full ARG (the only hand he had in it were the subliminal messages during the credits of several videos). He notes in his ''Electric Tale of Pikachu'' commentary that he really wished he had thought of it himself.
* AlternateUniverse:
** The ''Warrior'' #1 review with Dr. Insano has them switching realities to one where the two are played by each others' actors, by different actors, by stuffed animals, where they face the other way, where they wear their clothes the other way, where everyone is a terrible actor, where the segment is run by WebVideo/TheNostalgiaCritic, and so on. See also CosmicRetcon below.
** 'Mechakara' turned out to be [[spoiler:an alternate version of [[RobotBuddy Pollo]] brought here by Dr. Insano's experiments with [[{{Technobabble}} Hypertime]]. Also, Dr. Linksano.]]
** The same thing happens with the ''Warrior'' #2 and #3 review. [[spoiler:Subverted with the [[WebVideo/TheAngryJoeShow Angry Joe]] segment. It seems like an AU with Angry Joe instead of Linkara, but it turns out Linkara was just using the restroom when Angry Joe snuck in to do the review]].
** Lord Vyce comes from one of these and deals with numerous others. In addition, Ensign Munro and the poorly animated Vohrsoth transport from their universe to Linkara's via an SOS beacon.
** In the ''Franchise/StarTrek #2'' Iron Liz is transported into a MirrorUniverse where Linkara is evil and has a goatee, an obvious homage to the mirror-verse in Star Trek.
** Jaeris the Gunslinger comes from one.
** The 2019 Halloween Story Arc; "The Foundation Of Mirrors" is about the Multi-Verse Glitching with Linkara, leading to the audience seeing many alternate versions of the Atop The Fourth Wall Crew.
* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: Dr. Linksano is rather dismayed to find out that Dr. Insano has achieved far more than he has as a mad scientist.
* AndThenWhat: Asks [[spoiler: the Entity]] this about [[spoiler: its plans to absorb everything in existence]]. [[spoiler: The Entity]] doesn't seem to have ever considered this before.
** Then in the stinger to ''All-American Comics #16'', he asks Linksano this about ruling the world, specifically how he'll deal with [[SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome economics, politics, legislation, rebellions, all that nasty stuff.]]
** When he tries this on Insano in the ''Star Wars 3D'' review it turns out that's the stuff he's looking forward to.
* AntiMagic: The "Guns and Sorcery" arc involves all of the magic around Linkara being suppressed--the magic gun, and the previously-unmentioned spells he used to protect his apartment and make his collection of merchandise really work. However, the trophies he's acquired from previous adventures still work...
* AppliedPhlebotinum: [[WebVideo/TheSpoonyExperiment Dr. Insano]] magically does everything with SCIENCE. Linkara himself makes his toy collection work with magic.
* ArcWords:
** "All that he sees, he conquers."
** "A piece of the world is missing."
** "Harvey, where do you think you are?"
** "Are you afraid?"
** "I hear and obey."
** "Sleepwalk through eternity."
* ArcWelding: Lewis' side project LetsPlay of ''Series/StarTrekVoyager: Elite Force'' gets folded into the Lord Vyce arc after he reviews the game's tie-in comic. Eventually, both previous {{Big Bad}}s are involved in the Lord Vyce arc.
* ArmCannon: The Minigun he uses to take down the second Pyramid Head. [[spoiler:90's Kid gets to use it as well at the end of the Mechakara arc.]]
* ArtifactOfDoom: [[spoiler: The "Magic Gun" is actually a subversion: It was created in a pretty evil fashion, but the only hints of intelligence are of a wholly positive personality who talked Linkara out of killing himself and so far the only people it has killed on its own were [[AssholeVictim its]] [[AbusiveParents creators]].]]
** It was also responsible for [[spoiler: canceling out Linkara's magic to try to stop his FaceHeelTurn in progress.]]
* AwfulTruth: [[spoiler:The Magic Gun? The one that he does not have to explain? It is actually a weapon created by two worshippers of a great evil to smite their enemies using their innocent, loving son's blood as a power source. The predictable result: after trapping their son's life-force in the gun they accidentally summoned a primal evil formed from his pain and rage which exacted revenge on his parents. The fact that he is at peace now does little to assuage how damn creepy the usually comedic prop has become.]]
* BackFromTheDead: [[spoiler:Mechakara seems to have been rebuilt by Lord Vyce. Be afraid... be ''very'' afraid...]]
** [[spoiler:And now he's "reborn" in Pollo's replacement body, thanks to Magic Coin's magic, possibly also gaining untold powers. [[RunningGag Be afraid... be ''very'' afraid...]]]]
** Oh, it gets even better. [[spoiler:That's not even Mechakara. It's Lord Vyce, [[BackFromTheDead back from being left for dead]] and ready to retake his ship.]]
* BadassBoast: Lord Vyce's "All that I see, I conquer!" Other people have already taken up the phrase to describe him.
* BatDeduction: How does Linkara get his EurekaMoment on the Entity's identity? The word "heavy."
* BattleCouple: [[spoiler: Jaeris and his wife Joanna]]. While he was off trying to find champions in other universes, she led LaResistance and won their world back from its dystopian leadership. Their weapons are even powered by their souls, and thus their love for each other.
* BattleTrophy: Linkara keeps [[EvilCounterpart Mechakara's]] dismembered right hand on his shelf. Bad idea, [[spoiler:as Lord Vyce later uses it to take control of Pollo's new body.]]
%% This doesn't explain what the button or the reaction is.* BerserkButton: [[spoiler: Part of Linkara's plan to defeat Lord Vyce involves repeatedly pressing Vyce's Berserk Button until he beams down and fights Linkara personally.]]
* BigBad: In order of appearance:
** [[MadScientist Dr. Insano]] from ''WebVideo/TheSpoonyExperiment'' serves as Linkara's ArchEnemy in [[StarterVillain the show's early days]] before the storyline is really anything more than parodies of various media. However, after his messing with Hypertime culminates in the ''Warrior'' #1 review, [[CerebusSyndrome things start getting serious]]...
** ''His Heart is Steel'': [[KnightOfCerebus Mechakara]] is an [[RoboticPsychopath evil android duplicate]] of Linkara from an AlternateUniverse, having traveled to our world when Insano breached dimensions with his Hypertime device. [[spoiler: He's actually a doppelganger of Pollo who killed his universe's Linkara and stole his skin in a robot uprising.]]
** ''The Other Insano'': [[HarmlessVillain Dr. Linksano]], an alternate Insano, tried to take this spot [[BigBadWannabe but failed pretty pathetically]]. He eventually tried another Hypertime plot but came into conflict with the original Insano, was easily beaten up, ran away when Lord Vyce began approaching, and became an ally upon returning.
** ''All That He Sees, He Conquers'': Lord Vyce, a MultiversalConqueror and KnightTemplar out to find and destroy, by any means necessary, the EldritchAbomination known as "The Entity" that destroyed his universe. To further his conquest he recruits Mechakara, who uses Dolorem (a demon created by the rage of the Magic Gun) in an effort to drive Linkara insane.
** ''A Piece of the World is Missing'': The Entity emerges from hiding after Vyce is defeated, consuming everyone on Earth one-by-one in its quest to become existence itself. Whately, the leader of its cult (which also created the Magic Gun), tries to drive Linkara insane [[BigBadWannabe but does a poor job]].
** ''His Blue Soul'': Mechakara, who managed to transfer his consciousness into Pollo's old body. [[spoiler: Until "Mechakara" is revealed to actually be Lord Vyce, who converted himself into a digital form to escape his banishment and restart his hunt for the Entity.]]
** ''Gun and Sorcery'': [[ShadowArchetype Jaeris the Gunslinger]], a mysterious man who wants the Magic Gun. [[spoiler:Linkara's holographic replacement Holokara acts as the DiscOneFinalBoss of the arc, going mad with power when Linkara leaves on a journey abroad due to his magic not working after the first confrontation with Jaeris.]] After that's dealt with, Jaeris steals the Magic Gun [[spoiler:and is revealed to actually be a critic from another world, who needs magic guns to overthrow his universe's authoritarian government. Following this reveal, Linkara offers to help Jaeris while [[TookALevelInBadass Dr. Insano]] returns with Neutro to become the FinalBoss]].
** ''Ghost of the Machine'': The King of Worms, an EldritchAbomination related to the Entity that's driving NIMUE insane. [[spoiler: Until it's revealed--[[HijackedByGanon once again]]--to actually be Lord Vyce, who's been gradually replacing NIMUE's A.I. with his own data so he can retake his ship.]]
** ''The Machinations of Worms'': The [[spoiler: real]] King of Worms, who is replacing Linkara's associates with "clockwork servants". It seeks to master fear and use it to conquer its fellow Outer Gods.
** ''WebVideo/AtopTheFourthWallTheMovie'': [[spoiler: Mechakara, resurrected after the events of ''WebVideo/ToBoldlyFlee'' by Malachite's Hand.]]
** ''The Sleepwalker'': Lord Vyce, who is allegedly transitioning into the new Entity. [[spoiler:In truth, the original Entity left a fragment of itself inside Linkara, turning him into a paranoid ControlFreak in his crusade against Vyce. Vyce himself collaborates with Linkara's allies to save him before he's completely taken over, but refuses to believe the Entity is truly gone once they finally defeat it and becomes the FinalBoss, putting Earth at risk of obliteration in his insane obsession with destroying his hated foe.]]
** ''The Clone Saga'': [[spoiler: [[NotSoHarmlessVillain Mirrorkara]], who released the now amnesiac and human Mechakara on Linkara as a means of psychological torture.]]
** ''AudioPlay/AVoiceFromTheDark'': The titular Voice, a bodiless EldritchAbomination that seeks to escape its prison and TakeOverTheWorld.
** ''Contest of Champions'': [[CombatPragmatist The Bandit Chief]] is the most ruthless of the Contest's competitors, willing to use any method shy of killing (and only because that's not allowed) to gain the advantage.
* BigDamnHeroes: In the episode that ends the Mechakara arc--90's Kid, Harvey Finevoice and Ninja Style Dancer all show up to save Linkara from Mechakara; they start shooting and everything's great... [[SubvertedTrope till they realize that their weapons will not work and they run away]]. Then [[spoiler:OUR universe's]] Pollo shows up then to borrow something, just in time to save the day in a DoubleSubversion.
** Played straight in the final battle with Lord Vyce - Harvey, Ensign Munro and 90's Kid help Iron Liz and Linkara by combining their attacks to defeat Lord Vyce.
** Star Trek #2 has Mirrorsano saving Liz from Mirrorkara.
** [[spoiler:Linkara himself does this at the moment Holokara, having knocked out Linkara's friends, crows that not a person on Earth can stop what he plans to do. Whereupon, he is immediately by a red ball of energy from Linkara's magic gun.]]
--->'''[[spoiler:Linkara:]]''' [[spoiler:Oh, I don't know. I think I might know a guy.]]
* BilingualBonus:[[spoiler: Dolorem is latin for misery.]]
* BlackEyesOfEvil: Taken to an even worse level. [[spoiler: The Entity in the form of '90s Kid]] has [[spoiler: eyes like television static.]]
* BreakTheCutie: The backstory that is [[spoiler: the Magic Gun. He was tortured by his parents that he loved dearly to create the ultimate weapon. He managed to kill them and is at peace and even helps Linkara defeat Silent Hill, calling him partner.]]
* BreatherEpisode: Breather arc, actually; his stated purpose for the Dr. Linksano arc was to just give the viewers a bit of fun after the comparatively serious and suspenseful Mechakara saga. Every arc features several episodes with no connection to it so the reviews themselves can remain the show's focus. The big exception was the "Linkara Lost" mini-arc, which straddles six episodes in a row.
** After the Vyce arc ended with ''eight'' arc episodes in a row, Linkara stated that he'd be taking a break from any storylines for a few months.
** The "Guns and Sorcery" storyline has ''eighteen'' arc episodes in a row, but several storyline sections around the middle of the arc are comedy pieces about Linkara at conventions.
** The "Comic Book Advertisements" episode was something of a breather as well, as he had just finished reviewing ''Rise of Arsenal''.
* BrickJoke:
** Remember how Mechakara forced Insano to cut his hair? [[spoiler:It comes back to bite his ass later on. Big time.]]
** The entire Mechakara saga is basically the result of one of these: [[spoiler:Remember Spoony and Linkara's crossover review of ''Warrior'', and all the insane universe-shifting that occurred because of it? ''Yeah.'']]
--> "Told you I'd bring it up."
** One that crosses onto another show: Spoony's Party Mania video revealed that one of the Schlumper brothers turned into that universe's Dr. Insano. Eventually we find out [[spoiler:Dr. Linksano is the other brother]].
** In another overlap with [[WebVideo/TheSpoonyExperiment Spoony]], it turns out Linkara was the one who [[spoiler:stole ComicBook/{{Neutro}} from Dr. Insano]].
** Linkara is transported 30 years into the future and meets the older version of himself in the same video that begins the Mechakara saga. More than a year later, we see the older Linkara wonder if he should have told his younger self about the gun.
*** This one is even more BrickJoke-y than that it turns out, as of the final ''ComicBook/SilentHill: Dead/Alive'' review. [[spoiler:the older Linkara asks himself in the PreviouslyOn segment just before the ''Action Comics #593'' review if he should have told himself about the magic gun and decides that it's okay he didn't because it was "only his sanity" at stake. As of the ComicBook/SilentHill review, we find out that his Magic Gun was created by a young child being tortured by his own parents into insanity/death, and that Silent Hill/Mechakara tried to convince him that he was his father and therefore one of the ones who killed him--all so that it would drive him insane and defeat him.]] Possibly a candidate for most depressing BrickJoke ever.
** A sequence from [[spoiler: the ''ComicBook/{{Neutro}}'' episode]] has a payoff ''a hundred and thirteen episodes later.''
** Remember when '90s Kid suggested a Nirvana reunion with Kurt Cobain's body being animated by slayer chicks? And how Linkara declared there was something seriously wrong with him? [[spoiler: Turns out that was a clue that it ''wasn't really '90s Kid.'']]
*** Well, of course. [[spoiler: Aside from it being too disturbing even for the real '90s Kid, he would know that Cobain was cremated!]]
** In Marvel Team-Up #74 Linkara tells Harvey that [[spoiler: all of his gadgets are toys turned into the real objects by a spell,]] but he hasn't figured how to use it on a [[spoiler:Duel Disc or Yu-Gi-Oh Card]]. In his 300th Episode he uses [[spoiler: Mirror Force against his [[MirrorUniverse Evil Counterpart]]]]
* BullyingADragon: [[spoiler: Who would have thought Lord Vyce's greatest weakness was being TAUNTED?]]
* ButForMeItWasTuesday: [[spoiler:When Mirrorkarra returns after a multi-year absence Linkara remarks that their last encounter had been a rather incidental fight and that he had completely forgotten about him.]]
* CallBack: "I'm distracting you so she can stab you." He first said this to a Shade in the ''Ewoks'' comic review, then to [[spoiler:Lord Vyce]] in the ''[[Magazine/DoctorWhoMagazine Doctor Who Classics]]'' #7 review.
** The Gunslinger, the BigBad for a story arc that lasted a lot of 2012, reveals that Linkara's universe is toxic to him. The reason that Lord Vyce wears that suit is because our universe is toxic to him, as well.
* CanonWelding:
** Due to his origins being a part of That Guy With The Glasses, sometimes Linkara will use their stories to play into his story. For example, Dr. Insano being his first big bad, not to mention the review of Warrior #1, the cornerstone of basically the whole storyline plot... was a crossover episode with ''WebVideo/TheSpoonyExperiment''.
** When he deals with ghosts in his new house, he consults Nella on what "[[WebVideo/TheNostalgiaChick The Dark Nella Saga]]" was like for her.
* CassandraTruth: [[spoiler:Linkara doesn't believe the Entity exists and dismisses Vyce's warnings.]]
** Later reversed, with [[spoiler:Vyce refusing to believe that Linkara killed the Entity.]]
* CerebusRetcon: [[spoiler:"It's magic. I don't have to explain it." Later on, it's explained that the Magic Gun is PoweredByAForsakenChild.]]
** Played with during the "15 Things Wrong With ''Identity Crisis''" review, in which Linkara says that he brutally and mercilessly murdered a thief that broke into his house, took the watch that would become the Miller Time watch, and buried the corpse in Nevada, then reveals that obviously it never happened, explains the true origins of the watch (it was a gift for his 13th birthday), and that he was just giving an example of a bad CerebusRetcon that would've made his Miller Time videos much less funny to watch.
** Played straight in the 'Spider-Man Team-Up: Saturday Night Live' review. Up to this point, Linkara had been using many different toys, memorabilia, and other various franchise-related objects as if they were the actual real things, with no real explanation given. [[spoiler: Turns out that Linkara had been using magic on what would otherwise be harmless, ordinary toys, thus turning them into an 'image' of the ''actual'' item that existed in whatever franchise the toy comes from -- which in laymen s terms amounts to essentially becoming the ''real'' item, instead of a powerless plaything.]]
** Played very straight in his two-part review of Catwoman: Guardian of Gotham, where a whole fleet of flashbacks to comedically selfish moments, ComedicSociopathy moments, and {{Badass Boast}}s [[spoiler:are used as evidence of his pride and to prove that [[HeWhoFightsMonsters he's turning evil.]]]]
*** A particularly good one is the flashback to the preparations before the first fight with Lord Vyce, where Linkara lists off tasks for the others to do to beat Vyce and adds that he'll do the most important job of all: review a crappy Elseworlds comic. At the time, this just seemed like a LampshadeHanging joke about the nature of the show, but in retrospect it can seem like jerkish behavior.
** Be All My Sins Remembered: How Linkara met Morate is revealed to be this during this storyline. [[spoiler:During the point where Linkara lost his magic, he stumbled onto the longbox and disturbed it, which caused Morate to try to initially kill him before learning of his job and circumstances got the ghoul curious enough to spare his life in exchange for hosting a show of his own, as well as keeping him away from the (as Morate puts it) "petty squabbles" and "serialized nonsense".]]
* CerebusSyndrome: Big-time, starting with the Mechakara arc.
* ChekhovsArmoury: In addition to the below-mentioned guns, Linkara is constantly expanding his "Arsenal of Freedom" with [[ComicBook/CaptainAmerica loads]] [[Franchise/StarTrek of]] [[Franchise/PowerRangers different]] [[Series/DoctorWho weapons]], ready to be used whenever needed.
* ChekhovsGun:
** Linkara found a working Pokéball in his review of a ''ComicBook/WorldOfWarcraft'' comic, which he later used to [[spoiler:capture a Pyramid Head.]] ''That'' becomes one itself in [[spoiler: ''Silent Hill Dead/Alive #5'' when he uses Pyramid Head to finish off a Nurse]]. It comes back in pretty much every big battle scene after that too, to varying levels of success.
** There were a dozen or so with payoffs in the Mechakara battle. The Power Rangers Morpher and the various weapons he picked up over the length of his show were the most obvious, but it also saw the payoffs for things like Black Lantern Spoony and Dr. Insano's haircut. In the commentary for said video he even [[LampshadeHanging admits]] that [[spoiler:shooting Mechakara with the gun from the Cable #1 review]] was a deliberate attempt to evoke this trope.
** When [[spoiler: Mechakara]] attacks during the review for the Zeo Rangers, Linkara attacks a [[spoiler: giant Mechakara with ComicBook/{{Neutro}}, which he says he took from Dr. Insano when the good doctor left it parked behind Spoony's house. In the second part of Spoony's review of FFX, there's a point where Dr. Insano bursts into Spoony's room, asking if anyone has seen Neutro, which he left parked behind Spoony's house.]]
** In several episodes leading up to the Power Rangers Zeo #1 Review, Linkara was seen working on [[spoiler: a Zeonizer]] in the first few moments. This was later used in the fight with [[spoiler: Mechakara]].
* ChekhovsSkill: Inverted, as it's Mechakara's ''lack'' of understanding of magic that leads him [[spoiler:to underestimate both Linkara and the soul of the boy in his magic gun in ''Silent Hill: Dead/Alive #5''.]]
* ContinuityNod: Dr. Insano nearly defeats Linkara using the power gloves he found on the [[WebVideo/ToBoldlyFlee ''USS Exit Strategy'']].
** Overall Linkara is the member of Website/ChannelAwesome that has the more nods to events outside his show. he sometimes makes comments about previous crossovers and anniversaries, tries to have the crossovers fit with his things happening in his show. and he also expanded a little on Malechite's powers.
* ContinuitySnarl: His 2010 preview video includes his future intro to the ''Silent Hill Dead Alive'' review. It's in a different location than the actual review due to his moving over the summer (which he obviously wouldn't have known he would do in January).
** His Archie Giant Series Magazine #452 review is also this. Though it uses the old theme song, the song wasn't used at that point. Harvey also says Linkara found him during his training for his Amazons Attack review... which was several months later. [[LampshadeHanging Linkara himself mentions the continuity hiccups in the credits and youtube description]]and says: "it’s best not to try to connect this anywhere specifically in continuity. I saw an opportunity to set an episode in the past and ran with it."
* CosmicRetcon: Linkara's attempt to bring Spoony back to life by [[ComicBook/InfiniteCrisis punching the fabric of reality]] instead gave Donna Troy a new origin story... and turned Dr. Insano into a man. Later, in his review of ''Mickey Mantle'' #2, a couple of baseball players pounding against the walls of reality makes Linkara switch places with Ensign Munro, turns '90s Kid into '60s Kid, and gives Harvey Finevoice his own show.
* CrossOver: [[WebVideo/TheAngryJoeShow Angry Joe and his Army]] help Linkara against [[spoiler:Lord Vyce by invading and capturing Vyce's ship, cutting off his power source and rendering him vulnerable.]]
** Technically speaking, anything with [[MultiversalConqueror Vyce]] and [[EldritchAbomination The Entity]] could be considered a crossover with [[spoiler:''[[HarsherInHindsight P]][[FridgeHorror O]][[DarkerAndEdgier K]][[CosmicHorrorStory É]][[TheFourthWallWillNotProtectYou MO]][[VideoGame/PokemonRedAndBlue N]]'']]
* CurbStompBattle: [[spoiler: Linkara's first fight with Vyce does not go all that well.]]
** Not to mention that [[spoiler: Vyce utterly ''annihilates'' [[ImplacableMan Pyramid Head]]]].
* CutHimselfShaving: [[spoiler:Linkara claims he was wearing gloves during his ''Ultimates 3'' review because he burned his hands on a hot plate, but it is really Mechakara covering his robot hands.]]
* CutenessProximity: Linkara's reaction to Linksano's cybermat, much to Linksano's frustration.
* CuttingTheKnot: Every time Linkara gets sucked into the Otherworld of Silent Hill, he finds a more straight-forward solution to the puzzles he's faced with rather than go through the convoluted steps that's actually required:
** In one the alternate endings to the ''Silent Hill: Dying Inside'' reviews, Linkara finds him stuck inside the room from ''VideoGame/SilentHill4'' and just pulls the chains out of the wall to get out.
** In his review of ''Silent Hill: Dead/Alive'', rather than look for devices that could be assembled to move an obstacle, Linkara just shoots it.
** By the 2011 ''Silent Hill'' reviews, Linkara doesn't even do ''that'' to a stack of boxes. He merely threatens them with the idea that he will simply ''burn them to the ground and tread over their ashes.'' The boxes politely collapse out of his way.
* DarkActionGirl: [[spoiler:Judas Liz]].
* DarkReprise: [[spoiler:Nimue's]] insanity leitmotif is already dark and ominous enough on its own but after she's apparently dead it reprises itself in a lot less ominous and considerably sadder fashion.
* DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu: With nothing more than [[spoiler: an improvised LogicBomb, Linkara convinces [[EldritchAbomination the Entity]] to destroy itself ''by TALKING to it''!]]
* DidYouJustScamCthulhu: Just as [[spoiler: the Entity was about to consume Linkara]] Linkara actually managed to [[spoiler: convince it that its current goal was pointless and to find out what happens when an Outer God dies instead]].
* DealWithTheDevil: [[spoiler: Subverted in his ComicBook/OneMoreDay Review. He was propositioned by many of the evil members of Website/ChannelAwesome to exchange his review show for the erasure of the aforementioned comic. 147* {{Deconstruction}}: The Entity storyline is a deconstruction of the [[spoiler: CosmicHorrorStory, bringing up that the {{Eldritch Abomination}}s of the Franchise/CthulhuMythos are ultimately just as insignificant as humans, and would come to that realization when realizing that there is nothing anything of them can do with their existence.]]
** The Holokara arc deconstructs [[spoiler: ComedicSociopath trends of the Website/ChannelAwesome reviewers and behavior that we think is funny for a fictional character and we have been conditioned to accept, but we would be terrified of somebody that acted like if they were real, especially somebody with weapons like Linkara.]]
* DisproportionateRetribution: At the conclusion of the Mechakara arc, [[spoiler: Dr. Insano captures the crippled Mechakara and tortures him with a magnet. Why? The robot made Insano [[TraumaticHaircut cut his hair]].]]
* {{Doppelganger}}: Mechakara. The only difference between them is that Mechakara [[strike:has a robotic hand]] is a Terminator-style cyborg and is really, really creepy.
** An interview has confirmed the "Alien Harvey Finevoice" (from the Silent Hill alternate endings) is a separate character from normal Harvey Finevoice, who would very much like to do a duet with his double.
* DoubleVision: During the conclusion of the Mechakara story, Linkara, '90s Kid, and Ninja Style Dancer all appear at the same time to [[spoiler: defeat Mechakara]]. Harvey Finevoice also appears, but not at the same time.
** They all appear at the end of the ''[[Magazine/DoctorWhoMagazine Doctor Who Classics]]'' review to help [[spoiler:take down Vyce]].
** The end of the Entity storyline contains shots of Linkara and '90s Kid, Harvey and Boffo, and Ninja-Style Dancer and Linksano. Most impressively, one shot shows Linkara walking around '90s Kid.
** The end of the ''Youngblood'' #4 review has a shot of Linkara, Linksano, and Harvey all looking completely baffled by what Nimue has just told them.
* DrunkOnMilk: '90s Kid managed to invoke this with Diet Coke, while [[DrowningHisSorrows mourning]] Rob Liefeld's departure from DC Comics.
-->'''Linksano:''' [[LampshadeHanging I've learned not to question these things.]]
* DrunkWithPower: [[spoiler: Linkara was starting to be this before Mark the Magic Gun stopped his magic to get his attention.]]

* TheEasyWayOrTheHardWay: The Gunslinger tries to give Linkara this ultimatum at the end of the Thing storyline; he reconsiders after Linkara traps him in a forcefield.
* EldritchAbomination:

** And now Linkara might have to deal with another, the King of Worms, who might have [[spoiler: taken over Nimue]].
* EmpathicWeapon: [[spoiler: The magic gun.]]
* EnemyMine: Surprisingly, The Sleepwalker provides this. As Linkara's team joins forces with [[spoiler: Lord Vyce]] in order to deal with [[spoiler: The Entity]] together.
* EpicFail: When trying to christen his new spaceship. "BREAK, DAMN YOU!"
* EurekaMoment: After reviewing "[[Franchise/CareBears Care Bears #13]]", Linkara grumpily states how the comic didn't help cheer him up (since he was still emotionally messed up from [[spoiler: the CurbStompBattle Vyce gave him in the previous episode]]), and proceeds to leave the futon... only to realize that ''[[spoiler: Vyce didn't kill him when he had the chance'' because his '''armor was damaged]]'''.
--> [[spoiler:"He didn’t kill me. ''Why didn’t he kill me?'' There was nothing I could do, he aimed the weapon, but instead he ran away. Why did he run away, why didn’t he kill me? (''thinks back to Vice’s retreat, then smiles'') …I know how to beat him… [[HesBack I KNOW HOW TO BEAT HIM!!!]]"]]
** At the end of the ''Spider-Man: Planet of the Symbiotes'' review, Linkara tells '90s Kid that the Entity has taken everyone on Earth except the two of them. '90s Kid's response of "Heavy!" is what triggers Linkara's realization that [[spoiler:'90s Kid '''is''' the Entity, or rather, it's been impersonating him for some time now.]]
** During the final contest of the Contest of Champions between the Bandit Chief and Linkara, [[spoiler: Linksano has been studying the box that the Confession Spirit came in back in 2020, in an attempt to figure out where it came from. After running into numerous dead ends, he soon manages to narrow things down when he realizes that he's only been having Nimue scan the ''box'', but not the ''pigment of the writing'' itself. Soon enough, after more narrowing down, it's revealed that one of the ingredients for the pigment, argent desilicate, only comes from ''fifty one'' parallel universes, compared to the thousands that the other materials come from. 184* EvilerThanThou:
** After Dr. Insano's defeat in the Adamantium Rage/Warrior #1 crossover, [[spoiler: which was, ironically, the event responsible for bringing Mechakara into our universe in the first place,]] he was largely relegated to HarmlessVillain status while more and more focus was placed on the enigmatic and far more menacing Mechakara, whom even Dr. Insano described as "really mean." [[spoiler: In a last-minute reversal, however, Dr. Insano managed to capture the badly damaged Mechakara and finish him off in revenge for his [[BrickJoke involuntary haircut seven months previous]]]. With his trademark EvilLaugh, he then proclaimed, "I'm back, baby!"]]
** According to Linksano, [[spoiler:Lord Vyce is this to the entire universe, and according to Lord Vyce, the Entity is this]].
* ExactWords: In the ''Contest Of Champions'', Bandit Chief is able to defeat his artistic opponent in a Timed Painting Contest, using ingredients found in the Forest. As Bandit Chief states, the Challenge was actually just to "Paint an Image", there was nothing saying that the Image itself actually had to look pretty!
* FateWorseThanDeath: The Mechakara story concludes with the titular character being [[spoiler: revived by Dr. Insano... only to be painfully tortured by said doctor for quite some time]] and then the [[spoiler: Warrior #2-#3]] [[TheStinger Stinger]] [[spoiler:shows the cybernetic part of his face lying on a bathroom counter, with his eye slowly lighting up. Creepy, yes, but that also means Dr. Insano took him apart while he was still alive.]]
* {{Foreshadowing}}:
** During a visit to the future in the ''Superman vs. Terminator'' review, a huge gun is visible in the background. We later see Linkara get his hands on it in the ''Cable'' #1 review, and [[spoiler:battle Mechakara with it.]]
** The opening to the review of ''Athena #1'' shows Lewis fiddling with [[Series/PowerRangersZeo the Zeonizer]] before quickly hiding it and telling the audience it is "part of a little side project." He is [[Series/DoctorWho sonic-ing it]] at the beginning of the ''X-Men #1'' review.
** In the Christmas Carol parody episode, Mechakara makes an early appearance as the Ghost of Christmas Future. Instead of Linkara's grave, he points at Pollo, who says "The day of reckoning is at hand." Given what Mechakara's backstory turns out to be...
** One of the flashing text in the EXTREME bit in the ''Darker Image'' says ''[[MultiversalConqueror His Vyce is conquest]]''
*** In the same episode, after the credits: "I didn't misspell his name."
** A cross-series piece of Foreshadowing: In Part 2 of [[WebVideo/TheSpoonyExperiment Spoony's]] review of ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyX'', Dr. Insano enters Spoony's room and starts to say "Bad news, I think Mechakara just-" before [[{{Squick}} squicking out]] at Spoony singing "[[{{WesternAnimation/Aladdin}} A Whole New World]]".
*** Second one from Spoony, Insano comes in asking if anyone knows where [[spoiler:ComicBook/{{Neutro}}]] was because it wasn't where he parked it.
** At the end of his 100th episode, he listed a bunch of things there would be more of, including "More [[spoiler:Neutro]]". This later came to pass in his review of ''Series/PowerRangersZeo #1'', where at the end of the credits he says "I told you there'd be more [[spoiler:Neutro]]".
** Two key videos during the Vyce arc feature an odd buzzing sound after Linkara defeats someone. [[spoiler: Turns out this isn't connected to Vyce, but is the next BigBad, The Entity.]]
** At the end of his ''Silent Hill Dead/Alive'' review [[spoiler: he (while under Vyce's illusions) reads an entry in a book mentioning 'a piece of the world is missing']]. Fast forward to the current arc and apparently [[spoiler: the Entity has something to do with that]]. Judging by his review of ''Game Boy #1'' the rest was relevant, though exactly how remains to be seen.
** When Linksano was giving Linkara the speech building up to the reveal of Lord Vyce's name, he mentions "ancient, mindless evils that fill in the cracks and eat dimensions for a snack". Gee, does that sound familiar?
** The Entity has been described as a glitch in reality, something that should never even exist. The ''Planet of the Symbiotes'' review finally reveals that [[spoiler:the Entity is [=MissingNo.=], one of the most notorious Pokémon glitches.]]
** The reason that ''Planet of the Symbiotes'' was chosen as the penultimate episode of the Entity arc was to foreshadow [[spoiler: the method Linkara used to destroy [=MissingNo.=], convincing it to commit suicide]].
** In the ''Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan #3'' review, after Mechakara hijacks Pollo's new body Linkara tells Pollo "He's not you." and "You're nothing like him." [[spoiler: We find out how true that is when it turns out the enemy was actually Vyce]].
** Back in the ''Superman: Distant Fires'' review, Linkara is checking up on preparations his various characters are making before they face Lord Vyce again, when 90's Kid informs him that he would need "a magic wand or something" to upgrade his BFG any further. Linkara simply responds by saying "Let me worry about that". It was later revealed that [[spoiler: all of Linkara's tech is the result of his using a magic spell to turn representations of various sci-fi gizmos into the real things.]]
** The Holo-kara used to review while Linkara searches for the reason his magic has stopped working turns out to be [[spoiler: [[AIIsACrapshoot somewhat evil]]]], but insists he's quite close to the real Linkara. [[spoiler: Turns out he's ''right'' -- the reason Linkara lost his magic was that ''he was turning evil'']].
** The many malfunctions on board ''Comicron-1'' across several months [[spoiler:is actually a systematic attempt by ''something'' to take over NIMUE-1 and the ship. And it succeeds.]]
** In fact, the whole Nimue arc is full of subtle hints about [[spoiler:her attacker's true identity]]:
*** At one point while she's on the shelf, Nimue whispers "He sees me!" What else is on the shelf? [[spoiler:Lord Vyce's old helmet, angled slightly so that it looks like it's looking at her.]]
*** One of her seemingly random ramblings: "V is orange." And a few minutes later, "Orange is [[spoiler:green.]] She's essentially saying that V is [[spoiler:green. Green is typically Lord Vyce's signature color.]]
*** In general, a LOT of her dialogue (Such as "I'M NOT TALKING TO YOU!" and "I'm going to kill you...") makes a lot more sense when you realize that [[spoiler:she's talking to Vyce, not Linkara.]]
** At the end of the ''X-Force #1'', 90's Kid concludes "I'm 90's Kid and what you see is what you get. Or is it?" [[spoiler:At this point, he'd been replaced by [=MissingNo.=] for weeks.]]
** A small but noticeable indication during the Sleepwalker Arc [[spoiler: that the Entity is closer than anyone realizes]] is that Mark doesn't attempt to stop Linkara through [[SanitySlippage his apparent slide into]] [[WellIntentionedExtremist "the end justifies the means" paranoia and subterfuge.]] Mark, the magic gun who stubbornly refused to fire and stopped all of Linkara's magic before just because he seemed to be on the verge of ''possibly'' turning evil, and yet he's suspiciously silent until TheReveal of what happened to him. Not just {{Foreshadowing}} so much as a giant red flag waving in everyone's faces.
** In his ''Zombie Christmas Carol'' review, Linkara's comment on the Future Ghost is; "Reminding you of a doom you'd forgotten". Linkara confirmed that was foreshadowing to his current storyline (as of 2016).
** During the Contest of Champions arc, Linkara is baffled that the Temlins would give away something as powerful as the ''Infinity Gauntlet'' as a prize, even to someone as potentially mundane as a comicbook reviewer. However, one of the Gauntlet's lesser known weaknesses is that [[spoiler:it only works in the dimension it's created in, which proves to be true for the same Gauntlet that Linkara receives as his prize for winning (and may possibly apply to all the other prizes the Temlins have given away, hence why Contest winners cannot compete again)]].
* FreezeFrameBonus: In ''Series/PowerRangersZeo #1'', when [[spoiler: Mechakara grows giant]], one of the billboards in the city is showing [[Creator/AllisonPregler Obscurus Lupa's]] ''Film/BuffyTheVampireSlayer'' title card.
** In the credits of the ''ComicBook/CaptainAmerica: Return of the Asthma Monster'' review. [[spoiler: [[ParanoiaFuel I'M ALWAYS WATCHING]]]]
*** In the same vein as above, in the credits of the ''[=NBComics=] #1'' review, [[spoiler: [[TheFourthWallWillNotProtectYou THE LOST BEAST HAS FOUND A HOME]]]].
*** In the ''Mightily Murdered Power Ringers'', it says [[spoiler: YOU'VE SEEN MY BONES BEFORE.]]
*** In the credits of ''Kamandi at Earth's End #1'', not only does it say [[spoiler: I'VE ALREADY WON THE GAME]], but it even [[spoiler: hits Linkara while saying "CAN YOU SEE ME?".]]
*** In the review of US-1 #2, it says [[spoiler: IT'S MORE THAN JUST A PIECE.]].
*** In Twilight Zone #9 it says [[spoiler: I'M NOT THAT THIN.]]
*** In the review of Superman & the Platform/TRS80 Whiz Kids: The Computers that Saved Metropolis, it says [[spoiler: I AM BEAUTIFUL.]]
** While looking for a comic to review in his ''Pokémon: The Electric Tale of Pikachu'' review, he rejects ''Marville'', saying that he's saving it for next year. Sure enough, ''Marville #1'' is his first review of the following year.

* FridgeLogic: Invoked. While trapped in a nearly featureless void of the realm of the King of Worms, Linkara wonders how he's able to have a rimshot to punctuate one of his jokes. This leads to him wondering how he's even able to record the review at that very moment.
* FromNobodyToNightmare: [[spoiler:The Entity, self-proclaimed Outer God, started as a bug in a computer game.]]
* {{Gaslighting}}: [[spoiler:What Mechakara and Lord Vyce were doing to Linkara through use of the alternate reality / Franchise/SilentHill, particularly the way he found out the backstory on his Magic Gun. Thankfully, his [[EmpathicWeapon Magic Gun]] helped subvert this to save his partner.]]

* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler:Pollo during the Wrath of Khan #3 review. He gets better, but considering his death is modeled on Spock's, is anyone surprised?]]
* HereWeGoAgain: The Entity storyline ends with a scene of WebVideo/ThatDudeInTheSuede [[spoiler:performing the [=MissingNo.=] glitch]]. Of course, this was probably just a throwaway joke and not an indication that [[spoiler:The Entity[=/MissingNo.=]]] will be coming back.
* HeroOnHiatus: Linkara is kidnapped by Vyce and remains missing for three-and-a-half episodes; other characters take on the reviews while Pollo searches for Linkara.
* HesBack: Dr. Insano after the Mechakara saga ended.
** Linkara [[spoiler:at the end of Franchise/CareBears #13, after he realizes Vyce's armor is his weak point and joyfully yells, "I KNOW HOW TO BEAT HIM!"]]
* HijackedByGanon: The Gunslinger Arc. In the end, [[spoiler: Dr. Insano comes out of nowhere piloting a new, revamped version of ComicBook/{{Neutro}} and both Linkara and the Gunslinger have to work together to stop him... despite the entire story so far appearing to lead up to an epic final battle]].
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: When Linkara is on the receiving end of a CurbStompBattle from Lord Vyce, the only way he finds that harms Vyce even slightly is to use Vyce's own weapon against him.
* {{Homage}}: [[WordOfGod Lewis]] has stated that the show's storyline is meant to be this to superhero comics.
** In particular many of the show's villains seem to be [[{{Expy}} expys]] or [[ShoutOut shout outs]] to specific supervillains or general villain archetypes.
*** Dr. Insano - MadScientist (Doctor Octopus, Lex Luthor).
*** Mechakara - [[AIIsACrapshoot Evil Robot]] (Ultron, Metallo).
*** Lord Vyce - GalacticConqueror (Thanos, Darkseid).
*** The Entity - EldritchAbomination (Galactus, Parallax).
*** Holokara - EvilCounterpart (Venom, Reverse-Flash).
*** The Gunslinger - TheCollector (Collector, Brainiac).
** Furthermore some the individual storylines pay homage to some of Lewis' favourite shows.
*** His Heart Is Steel - Power Rangers

* ItBeganWithATwistOfFate: Dr. Insano messing with Hypertime by forcing the Warrior review on Linkara opened a portal for villains like Mechakara and Linksano to come through during it, thus attracting other villains to come on as well.
* JackassGenie: ''WesternAnimation/WishKid''[='=]s magical glove grants Linkara's wish to remove [=NBComics=] from existence, only to replace it with a (going by his reaction) '''far''' worse comic.
* JigsawPuzzlePlot: The various appearances of "Mechakara," a robot double of Linkara who typically shows up at the end of a review to set up part of an impending plan against him. 287* LegionofDoom: The various alternate versions of Dr. Insano, who contemplate teaming up and taking over reality.
* LetMeGetThisStraight: At the beginning of The Thing arc, '90s Kid sums up their situation--they can't communicate with the outside world, they can't get out of the apartment, and an unknown threat is inside with them--using this.
* LittleNo: [[spoiler:Lord Vyce's response when he learns that Linkara had not deleted Nimue, only shut her off.]]
* LookBehindYou: "I'm distracting you so she can stab you."

* MadnessMantra: A creepy version in the sinister book he found about the Entity...an entire page is just filled with jagged writing repeating the words "I AM NEVER SHOULD" over and over again. It's...unsettling.

People who want it for immoral and destructive ends have to cut a DealWithTheDevil, which usually gets them before the forces of justice do.]]
* MagicVersusScience: Magic is something Mechakara cannot fight against; he came to our dimension to ''get'' the power to fight magic.

* TheManBehindTheMan: [[http://atopthefourthwall.com/mr-t-2/ "Mr. T #2 (AP Comics)"]]'s PreviouslyOn shows Andrew Dickman being manipulated into stealing all the other title card artist's jobs by Dr. Insano.
* MechaMooks: Vyce's Shades, much to Liz and Linkara's glee:
-->'''Linkara''': They're robots!
-->'''Liz''': Cool, that means they can blow up!
* MirrorUniverse: Iron Liz is accidentally swapped with her mirror universe counterpart in the ''Star Trek #2'' review. Linkara is megalomaniacal and adores Liefeld, Pollo looks like Tom Servo, alternate Liz loves [[TakeThat Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition]], and [[spoiler: Dr. Insano is a noble 'Champion of Science'.]] Apart from that everything seems much the same.
* MoodWhiplash: At the end of the ''[[ComicBook/JusticeLeagueCryForJustice Cry For Justice]] #5-7'' review, the final shot of [[spoiler:Linkara lying on the floor after being beaten up by Lord Vyce]] leads directly into Lesley Gore's "It's My Party".

** The ''Twilight Zone'' comic review introduces a new character, with a hilarious shot of Lewis in a clown nose and rainbow wig, standing in silent dignity. [[spoiler:The clown then immediately becomes a victim of the Entity.]]
* MoreThanMindControl: The October 2012 storyline, thematically linked to ''Film/TheThing1982'', makes you think that one of Linkara's crew has been taken over by a Thing-like creature and they paranoiacally argue over which one it is. [[spoiler: It turns out that none of them were taken over, and and while the creature does lower inhibitions and increase anger, all the horrible things they said about each other were at least partly genuine]].
* MundaneFantastic: Linkara fights off evil scientists and a robot version of himself, travels to alternate universes to fight villains who are trying to ward off even STRONGER enemies, has a magic gun and multiple Franchise/StarTrek[=/=]Series/DoctorWho gadgets...and it's a review show? He even states this in the ''Doctor Who Classics #7'' review.
* MundaneMadeAwesome: In the face of [[spoiler: Lord Vyce's]] return, we have this exchange:
-->'''Harvey Finevoice:''' Well, kid, what are you gonna do?\
'''Linkara:''' The only thing I can do. Review a comic book.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: Linkara's reaction after learning about [[spoiler: the Gunslinger's motivations and realizing that by destroying his pocket watch, he's made it impossible for him to safely return home.]]
* NeckLift: Vyce does it to Linksano as he expresses his displeasure that Mechakara was defeated despite Linksano's augmentations.
* NeverFoundTheBody: As of ''[[http://atopthefourthwall.com/spider-man-planet-of-the-symbiotes/ Spider-Man: Planet of the Symbiotes]]'' with the exception of Linkara [[spoiler: everyone on the planet, including Dr. Linksano, Ninja Style Dancer, Harvey Finevoice, Pollo, 90s Kid, and Iron Liz have all disappeared thanks to the Entity.]]
* NeverTrustATrailer: The 2010 trailer made it seem like Ensign Munro, Dr. Linksano, and Pyramid Head would be appearing in the Mechakara conclusion. Those scenes did, however, appear in later videos, since that trailer was for ''the entire year''.
* NoGravityForYou: During the fight in the Gunslinger's home, Pollo and Sierra play tug-of-war with the ArtificialGravity controls, alternatively sending Linkara or the Gunslinger sprawling.
* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: [[spoiler:Vyce's CurbStompBattle with Linkara is ''brutal''.]]
* OhCrap:
** Linksano: Oh no... He's coming....HE'S COMING!

** ''Spider Man: Planet of the Symbiotes'' - [[spoiler: Angry Joe, Creator/JewWario, Dr. Insano...hell, pretty much everybody in the world except Linkara and '90s Kid...who turns out to be the Entity in '90s Kid's form...]]
** ''All-Star Batman and Robin #6'' - Linkara goes very still when [[spoiler: Nimue, controlling AI of the universe's most powerful warship, implies that she might be losing her mind]].
** ''Spider-Man: Crossfire'' - [[spoiler:"Your computer is dead, Champion. Tell me...are you afraid?"]]
** ''2001: A Space Odyssey'' - [[spoiler:Lord Vyce has this reaction when he learns that Linkara had backed up Nimue and freed her from Vyce's control. Vyce has this even more when his attempts to destroy Nimue fail, having underestimated the processing speed of a computer program in comparison to a living mind.]]
** ''Ultimate Power'' #4: [[spoiler:Erin upon realizing the very EldritchAbomination she's helping Linkara fight is really inside him during the Entity's ShockingVoiceIdentityReveal.]]
** ''Stormwatch #0'': [[spoiler:Lord Vyce is so obsessed with eliminating the Entity once and for all that he decides to open up a singularity that will eliminate the entire Earth and then, once he has the Entity where he wants it, overloads and locks Comicron 2's controls to prevent it from turning around and escaping, confident that he has won, only to have this reaction when, after Linkara reveals that the Entity was a fake to bait his enemy, he had overloaded the ship's controls for nothing and can't escape in time without Linkara's help, which he refuses, leaving his sworn enemy to [[HoistByHisOwnPetard enter his own singularity and be eliminated forever]].]]
** ''The Thing: The Northman Nightmare'': [[spoiler:The other Linkara's reaction to remembering who he is ''very'' quickly becomes this when he realizes he's a now fully human Mechakara.]]
** ''Freddy vs Jason vs Ash: The Nightmare Warriors'': [[spoiler:Linksano seeing the results of a more thorough scan he did on the "clone" and Erin's horrified reaction to seeing Mechakara's self-inflicted injuries.]]
* OntologicalInertia: The injuries Linkara sustained from his fight with Mechakara disappeared when he used the Morpher to power up. The injuries returned when he powered down.
* OoCIsSeriousBusiness: How do you know things are really, REALLY wrong in the ''ComicBook/SilentHill Dead/Alive'' storyline? The [[TheVoiceless Ninja-Style Dancer]] ''speaks''. [[spoiler: Though it turns out to be a hallucination induced by the bad guys.]]
* PapaWolf: Don't say anything bad about Iron Liz to Linkara's face: "That woman stands alongside me and fights for this universe with as much bravery and courage as any champion. You're in MY house, [[spoiler:Vyce]], and you WILL show her respect!"
** Harvey Finevoice is very protective of Linkara, [[spoiler: having come to see him as a surrogate son after losing his own.]]
* PoweredByAForsakenChild: The story at the beginning of each ''ComicBook/SilentHill Dead/Alive'' video, about a child who was only born so his parents could power a superweapon by torturing him. Which turns out to be [[spoiler:the Magic Gun]]!
* PunctuatedForEmphasis: When the Great Wizard Aplos (also known as Steven) tells Linkara "[[spoiler: You. Are. Turning. Evil]]!"
* PunctuatedPounding: And again against Mechakara in the Series/PowerRangersZeo #1 review:

[[folder:Q-T]]
* RealLifeWritesThePlot:
** According to Lewis, Linksano was introduced so he would not have to keep asking Spoony to do segments for him and adding to his own workload.
** Part of the reason for [[spoiler:Pollo's abduction by the Entity]] was because Lewis wished to retire the Pollo prop and build a new one.
*** The in-show explanation for there being no 11/07/11 episode is that Linkara needed a break after the [[spoiler: past few weeks with the Entity and Silent Hill]], though the actual reason was because Lewis was at Youmacon for the week before, so he couldn't produce and write the following week's episode.
** In his review of ''ComicBook/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicIDW'' issues 27-28, Lewis and Viga moving into a new house was written in as the apartment tenants getting tired of the constant attacks by super villains and the landlord hiking up Linkara's rent.
** The reason that Jaeris' story has abruptly concluded [[spoiler:by his wife finding him and telling him that the totalitarian government he was fighting in his home dimension was defeated off-screen]] is because Jaeris' actor Will received a job opportunity in another state that was too good to pass up and thus his character had to be quickly written off the show.
** His review for ''Captain America Meets the Asthma Monster'' being filmed in his living room is the result of [[http://atopthefourthwall.com/likely-episode-delay/ a hose clog flooding his office]] and written in as part of the Contest of Champions being allowed to have two of the fighters use a third's space as neutral ground.
** The delay on The Contest of Champions storyline has stretched for a while owing to the UsefulNotes/COVID19Pandemic. In universe, there's two explanations given as to the delay. The first is that there's an ion storm occuring in some key locations for competitions, and the other is that some of the other universes involved are dealing with their own pandemics as well.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: [[spoiler:Mechakara, while pretending to be Lewis, gives one to the entire fanbase at the end of the ''Ultimates 3 #5'' review. It might have worked if Linkara had not interrupted.]]
** [[spoiler: In the ''Catwoman: Guardian of Gotham #2'' review, Aplos the wizard gives a well deserved one to Linkara to explain why Linkara's poor past behavior led him to lose his magic]].
** [[spoiler: NIMUE delivers an epic one to Vyce, who had spent the previous few months slowly driving her insane. She sounds extremely satisfied as she verbally beats him to a pulp, before seemingly deleting him.]]
* RedHerring: He clearly wanted the viewers to think The Entity was [[spoiler: some Lovecraftian monster. Not only did most of the clues sound Lovecraftian in nature, they were sandwiched in between the 2010-2011 Silent Hill reviews, which he claimed had more in common with Lovecraft than Silent Hill.]] Though the Entity does refer to itself as [[spoiler: an Outer God, a term from the Franchise/CthulhuMythos]], so there seems to have been a little truth in with the misdirection.
** [[spoiler: When Pollo's new body is taken over, Linkara, and the viewer assumes that it's Mechakara's doing since an electric charge came from his hand. Turns out that it was actually Lord Vyce. Note that it was never stated that it was Mechakara, Linkara just assumed that.]]
** When NIMUE [[spoiler: starts behaving in an insane manner]] it's set up to make us think that [[spoiler: another eldritch abomination named the King of Worms has appeared]] and has taken [[spoiler: NIMUE over]]. Turns out that it actually was [[spoiler: ''Vyce'' who was taking NIMUE over]] and that if the [[spoiler: King of Worms]] is around then it's actually [[spoiler: taken over the ''cybermats'']].
** [[spoiler: Eliza]] is seen observing different moments during the King of Worms story arc, and then disappearing. While this could be seen as suspicious behavior indicating them as TheMole, it in fact is just [[spoiler: her trying to figure out what she's meant to do after having been just born]], and so they do help out at the end of the arc.
** During the Clone Saga arc, Linksano shows Linkara the busted test tube that contained the clone [[spoiler: he created with Linkara]]. While this seems to be [[spoiler: where the Linkara clone came from, it's later revealed that the clone is actually Mechakara who had been transformed into a human. The clone from Linksano's lab was taken by Mirrorkara, who later killed him by testing out his Agonizer on him]].
* ReedRichardsIsUseless: Linkara has created the [[RidiculouslyHumanRobots most sophisticated AI ever]], with countless implications for nearly every field of science, yet he only uses it to maintain his video review show while he's busy saving the world.
* ReplacementGoldfish: Linkara turns out to be one for [[spoiler: Harvey Finevoice's dead son, Charlie]].
* ReviveKillsZombie: Utilized against Black Lantern Spoony in the ''ComicBook/BlackestNight'' clip.
* RobotMe: Mechakara.
* RoboticPsychopath: Mechakara.
* RousseauWasRight: According to Aplos the Wizard, even if the mind has been corrupted to act otherwise, a person's Soul is good by default and can tell the difference between right & wrong. This is part of the reason as to why Benevolent Magic comes more natural than any dark magic.
* RuleOfCool: The entire storyline. He's an Internet comic reviewer - who is also apparently the "champion" of his planet, using gadgets from Star Trek, Doctor Who, and Power Rangers alongside his troupe of lookalikes to fight mad scientists, evil robots and aliens, including [[spoiler: an evil entity that is actually the living persona of one of the most infamous video game glitches ever.]]. One commenter said it best: "You sir are a god among nerds."
* SequelEpisode: The 300th episode is one towards the [[spoiler: ''Star Trek #2'' review]], as Linkara fights against [[spoiler: Mirrokara]] over the events from the last time he appeared. Both episodes don't really advance their current story arcs (with the exception of [[spoiler: the creation of Nimue]]).
* SequelHook:
** After Mechakara's defeat, all questions about his identity and goals are answered... but who sabotaged the Continuity Alarm?
** The stinger at the end of Secret Origins Month:
-->'''Linkara''': [[spoiler: What, you wanted to hear about my secret origins? *smiles* Maybe some other time.]]
* SharedUniverse: As part of Channel Awesome, the show is automatically part of the Reviewaverse. And Lewis likes to take advantage of the Reviewaverse being a shared universe. Not only with cameos and crossovers, but with storyline elements like expanding upon ''WebVideo/ToBoldlyFlee'' in ''WebVideo/AtopTheFourthWalTheMovie'' or the mythos of the [[WebVideo/TheNostalgiaChick quasi-demonic intergalactic force of evil]].
* ShootingSuperman: "Why, why why do I always try to punch robots, it never works." Linkara after his attempt at using the [[MemeticMutation "I AM A MAN" punch]] on Mechakara even though he knew he was metal. This was after the first failed attempt when he tried it on ComicBook/{{Neutro}}.
* ShutUpHannibal: He gets quite a fine one in the conclusion of the Vyce arc. [[spoiler:After his defeat, WellIntentionedExtremist Lord Vyce warns Linkara that his victory leaves the multiverse vulnerable to 'the Entity.' Linkara calmly points out that he doesn't buy Vyce's claim to being the hero: "I don't know many good guys who conquer entire multiverses. Or many who call themselves 'Lord' either."]]
** YOU! TALK! TOO! MUCH! DURING! A! FIGHT SCENE!
* SitcomArchNemesis: The Linkara/Dr. Insano relationship sometimes takes on shades of this. He has never really been threatening in the same way as Mechakara. Dr. Linksano is pretty much a parody of this trope, as well as UnknownRival.
* SoapWheel: Major plots tend to have started up, or at least have heavy foreshadowing, well before the previous plot has finished.
* SpaceWhaleAesop: At the very end of the Lord Vyce Arc finale:
-->''And the moral of the story is... "Don't make fun of insane weirdos who track U.F.O.s with empty boxes and divining rods because they may end up on a superfluous and pointless alien ship." ({{Beat}}) ... Wait, [[FlatWhat what?]]"
* SuperMode: [[spoiler:Zeo Linkara.]]
* TakeAThirdOption: [[spoiler:Linkara eventually decides to name the ship something that wasn't part of the pool.]]
* TakeThat: [[spoiler:The Gunslinger's world being a dystopian, 1984-style government was the result of one of many legislation. While this could be any old legislation, his wording of how the initial legislation was "supposed to protect the rights of the artists" makes it pretty clear he's talking about SOPA. It doesn't help that soon after this, it cuts to a woman telling about how pirates used to get away with crimes on the Internet.]]
* TalkingTheMonsterToDeath: Linkara's eventual method for [[spoiler: defeating the Entity]] is to point out [[spoiler: that its plan doesn't include what would happen if it ever succeeded]] and to convince [[spoiler: it to explore death instead]].
* TemptingFate: [[spoiler: After yet another mysterious adversary from another world challenges Linkara and is forced to flee, our hero makes a brief BadassBoast culminating in the fact that there is [[NothingCanStopUsNow nothing that can stop him now]]. 388** [[spoiler: Holokara]] makes the same declaration at the end of the ''Answer to a Riddle'' review. Naturally, [[spoiler: the real Linkara picks that moment to arrive]].
--->[[spoiler:"Oh, I don't know, I think I might know a guy."]]
* ThisCannotBe: [[spoiler:Lord Vyce's typical reaction to his plans being ruined by Linkara and/or his friends, often because he never fails to underestimate what they can do.]]
* ThisMeansWar: At the end of his ''[[ComicBook/StreetFighterMalibuComics Street Fighter]]'' ''[[http://atopthefourthwall.com/street-fighter-1/ #1 review]]'' he finds [[spoiler: a message in the book stating "I SEE YOU LINKARA"]]. His response?
-->"Oh, it is on now!"
* TimeDissonance: Lampshaded.
-->"[[Film/TheRockyHorrorPictureShow Let's do the time warp again!]]"
* TimeyWimeyBall: A rip in hypertime allows Linkara to go off to fix things by reviewing ''Warrior'' #4, then return to the exact same time he left and keep doing reviews (this was actually done due to the unpredictability of when the ''Warrior'' review would be put up).
* TomatoSurprise: [[spoiler:The Ultimates 3 review.]]
* TomeOfEldritchLore: The Absent Grimoire, a book detailing scraps of info about the Entity [[spoiler:and its cousins]]
* TookALevelInBadass: Pollo against [[spoiler:Linksano]] in ''ComicBook/JLAActOfGod'' Part 3.
* TrailersAlwaysSpoil: Both trailers for the 2009 and 2010 do show some details that should not be there...
** TrailersAlwaysLie: And some details that are nonexistent.
* TransformationSequence: In an emergency (such as the showdown with BigBad Mechakara) Linkara can use his Franchise/PowerRangers morpher to transform into an [[VideoReviewShow Internet Reviewer]].
** Compared with simply going to the closet and putting on his hat and coat, this method comes with enhanced strength and a laser pistol.
** Later [[spoiler:this form got a much more Franchise/PowerRangers-esque outfit and a strength upgrade.]]
** Later still [[spoiler:he gets a brief one when he morphs into the Green Ranger.]]
* TrueCompanions: While it was vaguely hinted at beforehand, the "Linkara Lost" arc showed just how tight-knit Linkara and his allies are.

* VichyEarth: What Lord Vyce [[spoiler: intends to do with our universe]].
* VillainousBreakdown: [[spoiler:Lord Vyce is outraged to see that Linkara has freed Nimue from his control and decides to just destroy her outright. His breakdown is more pronounced not only when that fails, but more so when she attempts to erase him in kind.]]
-->'''[[spoiler:Vyce:]]''' ''[[spoiler:(bursting into a green flame)]]'' [[spoiler:YOU CANNOT!! ONLY I CAN STOP THE ENTITY!!]]\

** [[spoiler:After witnessing the Entity kill itself again, Vyce ''still'' believes it's alive, and tries to use a dimensional portal to destroy the Earth, if not ''the entire universe'', in order to finish the Entity for good.]]
** [[spoiler:Following up on that, Vyce is none too pleased to learn that the Entity he was battling is a fake controlled by Linkara. Enraged, he demands to know where the Entity is and refuses to believe Linkara when he insists that the Entity is indeed dead this time. When he realizes that he has overloaded his ship's controls with no way to avoid going through the portal, [[VillainsWantMercy Vyce pathetically begs Linkara to save him]] so he may continue the hunt for the Entity, but Linkara won't have it and leaves him to his fate. He has only enough time to scream [[BigNo "NOOOOOO!"]] before he is eliminated once and for all.]]
* VillainsNeverLie: Subverted. Mechakara very much ''is'' lying when he implies that [[spoiler:Linkara is the [[AbusiveParents father]] of the soul that powers his gun]].
** Played straight with Lord Vyce.
* VillainsWantMercy: [[spoiler:When Lord Vyce learns that the Entity he thought he was fighting was a fake controlled by Linkara and that he had overloaded his ship's controls with no way to avoid being consumed by the Singularity, he pathetically begs Linkara to save him so he can carry on the hunt for the Entity. Linkara refuses and leaves Vyce to his fate.]]
* VitriolicBestBuds: Linkara and Pollo snark at each other a lot, and Pollo is far from above manipulating Linkara to get stuff he wants, but any time either is in danger, the other will do everything in his power to protect and help.
* WhamEpisode: ''[[ComicBook/JusticeLeagueCryForJustice Cry For Justice]] #5-7'': [[spoiler: Lord Vyce arrives and reveals that he's actually conquering the universes to protect them from an EldritchAbomination called "The Entity", and gives Linkara a brutal beatdown, being impervious to ALL of his attacks and killing Pyramid Head. 430** ''Reagans Raiders'': [[spoiler:90's Kid officially betrays his friends.]]
** ''Ultimate Power #4'' [[spoiler:90's Kid actually ''didn't'' betray his friends... since, due to him traveling to the future, he learned something that made him team up with Vyce. That thing? ''Linkara has been possessed by '''the Entity'''''.]]

** From ''Mr. T and the T-Force'' #4, [[spoiler:TheStinger, which sees the tenth anniversary storyline kicked off by Linkara and Linksano seeing someone who resembles Linkara in a tattered version of his original outfit.]]
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: At the beginning of the ''Film/CoolWorld'' review with WebVideo/MarzGurl, Linkara says he needs help to fight [[WebVideo/TheSpoonyExperiment Dr. Insano]]. It's never brought up again, nor does it fit in continuity with the ''Wolverine: Adamantium Rage'' and ''{{Comicbook/Warrior}}'' reviews from around the same time. Of course, Insano doesn't ''have'' a continuity as such.
** After the ''Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan'' review, Iron Liz stops appearing on the show. The real life reason is that Linkara and Liz are no longer in a relationship, but there's no in-story explanation given.
** However, when he was asked about it on Twitter in February 2013, he answered, "What makes you think I've forgotten about it?", implying that it will return. She eventually makes a brief cameo in the 300th episode, where it's revealed she's been out searching for Judas Liz.
* WhatTheHellHero: In ''Future Shock #1'', Harvey Finevoice expresses his outrage at Holokara for [[spoiler:squeezing '90s Kid's heart in the preceding episode]], [[spoiler:even going so far as to shoot him... [[ImmuneToBullets though to no avail]].]]
** [[spoiler: The Magic Gun to Linkara, when he feels he's too prideful and self-centered and at risk of a FaceHeelTurn. Since he can't talk, all he can do is stop firing when he pulls the trigger. Thankfully Steven the Wizard came along to [[TheReasonYouSuckSpeech help translate this]].]]
** Pollo delivers one to [[spoiler: Jaeris, as the latter is drowning his sorrows, not only calling him out for attacking Linkara for the Magic Gun instead of offering any kind of explanation, then blaming solely Linkara for his current predicament, ignoring how he refused to ever explain his actions to that point, then comparing him to other villains who used the 'I'm doing what must be done' excuse.]]
* WhiteMagic: Apparently ''all'' human magic is inherently benevolent since it comes straight from the human soul. Human souls are good even if the minds aren't, so any attempts to use magic for evil fail. BlackMagic -- curses, hexes, evil artifacts, etc. -- are only possible through [[DealWithTheDevil bargains with otherworldly forces]] that always have a price. [[spoiler:This is one of the reasons Linkara -- whose pride has gotten worse and worse -- is unable to use his magic anymore.]] [[WebVideo/SuburbanKnights Malachite]] was an exception since he's so old that he predates the rules that govern magic in the present so they don't apply to him.
* WorfHadTheFlu: [[spoiler:After the initial CurbStompBattle, it seems fairly simple for Linkara to outmaneuver and defeat Vyce in their rematch. However, Linkara mentioned this was possible because he figured out Vyce's BizarreAlienBiology was incompatible with our universe and as such he would be greatly weakened fighting in person there. Combine this with taking advantage of Vyce's pride, and he was able to rob Vyce's protective suit of most of its power and overcome him.]]
* WhereDoesHeGetAllThoseWonderfulToys: [[spoiler: Turns out, those wonderful toys are just that: toys.]]
* WhyDontYouJustShootHim: An interesting case with Mechakara. In his own universe,[[AvertedTrope he killed his Linkara immediately]]. The reason he didn't do it to our Linkara was because the instant kill gave him no satisfaction and he wants to make Linkara suffer. However, after continuous defeats, he just wants Linkara dead and just hasn't been given the opportunity to.
** The Gunslinger's main weapon is a magic gun, so he doesn't bother to talk much and does try to shoot Linkara immediately. With this being a magic gun, however, a single shot wouldn't actually kill. [[spoiler: The Gunslinger does shoot Linkara in the back during his sneak attack. This knocks Linkara unconsciousness and the Gunslinger takes Linkara's magic gun. ]]
* TheWorldIsAlwaysDoomed[=/=]AsLongAsThereIsEvil: The following exchange between Linkara and [[spoiler:Mark]].
-->'''[[spoiler:Mark]]''': "There are rules to magic and the forces you're playing with, and you're going to need to learn those rules for some of the things coming."
-->'''Linkara''': "Oh what, like some new evil on the horizon that I have to deal with?"
-->'''[[spoiler:Mark]]''': "There is always a new evil, but fortunately there's also [[AsLongAsThereIsOneMan a new hope]]."
* WorldOfWeirdness: Since Lewis is the pioneer of storylines in review shows, he's pretty much ''the'' reason why the Reviewaverse is so weird. And ''oh boy'', does the show demonstrate this. Magic, robots, alternate universes, mad science, space and inter-dimensional travel, Outer Gods (one of them based on a glitch/creature from a video game), artificial intelligence, toys and props based on TV shows and movies made real through magic, cybermats, and the Infinity Gauntlet.
* YouHaveGotToBeKiddingMe: Linkara's reaction when he finds out that the prize for the Contest Of Champions is [[spoiler: The Infinity Gauntlet]].
