Sometimes, new plays [[SugarWiki/AndTheFandomRejoiced are highly anticipated]].
----
* The Royal Shakespeare Company are still trying to develop that stage musical of Creator/RoaldDahl's ''Literature/{{Matilda}}'' they've been working on for years? Pff, when are they going to learn ... wait, what? They've asked Music/TimMinchin to write the score?! When do tickets go on sale?!
** And it's going to Broadway?! GET ME ON THE LIST!!!
* A musical of ''Film/LittleMissSunshine''? I don't know. The score's being written by William Finn? Yep, that'll work!
** And with the book written by James Lapine? YES.
* They're making a musical based on Film/MontyPythonsLifeOfBrian? Ok. Idle's always funny, but this might be a stretch. Wait, they're releasing a performance on DVD starring all of the surviving [[Creator/MontyPython Pythons]]? DO WANT!
* They're doing a musical of "Bring It On?" Okay, might be good... Wait, Lin-Manuel Miranda is writing the music/lyrics? Hell yes!!!
* What do you get when you cross [[Creator/DavidTennant the Tenth Doctor]], [[Creator/PatrickStewart Captain Picard]], and Theatre/{{Hamlet}}? The best Royal Shakespeare Company production of Hamlet [[http://www.pbs.org/wnet/gperf/episodes/hamlet/watch-the-film/980/?sms_ss=facebook&at_xt=4d45f42677fa7130,0 EVER!]]
* Creator/CirqueDuSoleil's had a hard time impressing its fanbase in the wake of several disappointing shows since 2008, but there are a few recent announcements that excited them:
** The announcement of Francois Girard as the director of ''Zarkana'' (2011) was seen as promising, since his ''[=ZED=]'' (2008) was a rare bright spot in the recent downward arc.
** The history-of-film inspired show ''[=IRIS=]'' (also 2011) made waves with the announcement that Music/DannyElfman would be writing its score.
* A [[Theatre/{{RENT}} modern version of ''La Boheme'']]? Set in new York? Hm... dunno what to make about it... what, it starred Idina F*ing Menzel in its premier?! AND in the movie? And the movie has Rosario Dawson? Ok, maybe I could take a - OMG OMG OMG, IT'S AWESOME!
* [[Creator/DavidTennant The Doctor]] and [[Creator/CatherineTate Donna]] doing Shakespeare? One of the best ''Series/{{Doctor Who}}'' pairings ever [[IWantYouToMeetAnOldFriendOfMine together again?]] And playing [[Theatre/MuchAdoAboutNothing two of the snarkiest characters in Shakespeare canon?]] Yes, please.
* Hey, Norm Lewis is going to star in ''Theatre/ThePhantomOfTheOpera'' on Broadway! Awesome! And fan favorite Sierra Boggess is returning as Christine--neat! I don't see how things can get much bet--''THEY'RE BRINGING BACK THE "WANDERING CHILD" TRIO??? OH HELL YES!!!''
* When the ''{{Theatre/Hamilton}}'' cast recording became available to stream on NPR, you could hear the fandom squeeing all around the world. No, really--the #Hamiltunes hashtag was trending on Twitter by the end of the day.
** Also, once the play along with the rest of Broadway closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the announcement that a recording of ''Hamilton'' would hit Creator/DisneyPlus certainly was the best news possible (the app even saw a huge spike upon its premiere).
* A revival of Theatre/SpringAwakening? Such an old hat of a show, and based on a 19th-century play to b- WHAT DO YOU MEAN AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE IS INCORPORATED IN THE SHOW?!?! WITH SPRING AWAKENING ALUMS RETURNING, ACTUAL DEAF AND HARD OF HEARING PEOPLE IN THE CAST, AND THE FIRST ACTRESS ON BROADWAY IN A WHEELCHAIR?!?
* ''Theatre/{{Cats}}'' being revived on Broadway in 2016 has fans glowing.
* Too bad the ''Manga/DeathNote'' [[Theatre/DeathNoteTheMusical musical]] didn't do well in its New York test run, the demos are great and now us American fans will never—wait, [[http://en.yibada.com/articles/187521/20170119/death-note-musical-set-to-debut-in-america.htm it's coming to America?!]] ''HECK YES!''
** It's been a while since we heard anything about the American debut... Oh wait, there's going to be ''two'' [[https://www.whatsonstage.com/london-theatre/news/death-note-the-musical-palladium_59015.html/ English productions]] in the London Palladium? And a ''third'' one [[https://www.whatsonstage.com/news/death-note-musical-adds-extra-performance-after-selling-out-first-two-shows_1279464/ added]] following the insane demand on the first two? Let's go!
