* NightmareFuel: In ''Zork I'', if you complete the exorcism task in the Entrance to Hades but then end up getting killed later on, instead of getting recalled to the Forest Path, you get recalled somewhere else:
-->As you take your last breath, you feel relieved of your burdens. The feeling passes as you find yourself before the gates of {{Hell}}, where [[WelcomeToHell the spirits jeer at you and deny you entry]]. Your senses are disturbed. The objects in the dungeon appear indistinct, bleached of color, even unreal.

** The aforementioned Human Sacrifice ritual in ''Zork III'', with an EarlyBirdCameo of the {{Black Cloak}}ed figure, [[spoiler:a.k.a. the BigBad Krill]] from ''Enchanter''. We'll let the narration text speak for itself:
--->This is the interior of a huge temple of primitive construction. A few flickering torches cast a sallow illumination over the altar, which, atop a row of stairs, is still drenched with the blood of human sacrifice. Behind the altar is an enormous statue of a demon which seems to reach towards you with dripping fangs and razor sharp talons. A low noise begins behind you, and you turn to see hundreds of hunched and hairy shapes. A guttural chant issues from their throats. Near you stands [[EarlyBirdCameo a figure draped in]] [[BlackCloak a robe of deepest black]], brandishing a huge sword. The chant grows louder as the robed figure approaches the altar. The large figure spots you and approaches menacingly. He reaches into his cloak and [[KnifeNut pulls out a great, glowing dagger]]. He pulls you onto the altar, and with a murmur of approval from the throng, he slices you neatly across your abdomen.

* HilariousInHindsight: In ''Zork III'', if you touch the table while its indicator shows "IV" in the Scenic Vista, you'll end up in a temple of some courtyard where the hairy bums perform some HumanSacrifice ritual on you by plunging a knife into your heart. This later becomes a plot point in ''VideoGame/{{Enchanter}}'', in which case you need to have [[DeathIsCheap an OZMOO spell]] handy in order to cheat death by HumanSacrifice.

* FridgeHorror: If you live in the Zork World, if you step into any darkness you'll risk being eaten by a grue. Meaning every single waking (And sleeping) second of your entire life, you have to have some form of light nearby. No matter where you are, whether it's a basement, or a hotel room, no light? You're dead. If your candle burns away while you sleep, you're dead. If the power goes out during a storm, you're dead... etc...

* WMG: Antharia Jack is the hero from the original trilogy.
** After the hero [[spoiler: became The Dungeon Master, and not only became elderly but also took on the [[TheMindIsAPlaythingOfTheBody intelligence and wisdom he turned back into his normal self after Dalboz succeeded him]] ]]. He created and starred in television shows that he based on his adventures (Which consist of killing a troll with a rusty knife and a thief that "stole all his stuff") though he pretends that it's all made up, to keep the truth hidden. He even said that he had experiences with electric lanterns. (Enough to become a lantern repairman) And while he comes off as an attention whore, it's just an act. His [[spoiler: time as the Dungeon Master]] humbled him.
