* FandomRivalry: ''Transformers'' in general has a BrokenBase, but this series alone has seen differing tones across multiple iterations. While there might [[FriendlyFandoms some overlap]], expect debates as to which one should've been the standard.

* UncertainAudience: Much of the reason its grand SharedUniverse ambitions were seen as having failed was that there ended up being very little overlap between its various branches. People who came on board for ''VideoGame/TransformersWarForCybertron'' ended up having little interest in ''WesternAnimation/TransformersPrime'' and vice versa, due to the vastly different aesthetic and approaches: the former being essentially a slightly revised G1 being aimed at nostalgic adults, the latter being a substantial reworking with elements of many prior shows aimed at all ages. That's to say nothing of ''WesternAnimation/TransformersRescueBots'', which is essentially aimed at six-year-olds and is pretty hard to square with its relatives from a tonal perspective.
