* VillainSue: Tomie zigzagged in and out of this trope, depending on the stories. In most standard stories, she utterly ruined the life of the people she encountered. The only things that made keep the viewers interested is because Ito occasionally gives the story a BittersweetEnding or a HereWeGoAgain but with ''another'' character.

* DesignatedHero: Tsukiko and the male model character from the later stories. The former is involved in taking pics of her male classmates without permission to sell to her female friends and the later is an arrogant asshole who not only tries disfigure Tomie after she disfigures him, but also starts creating NEW versions of Tomie (who can age) simply to torment the new versions by watching them age and lose their beauty that way.

*** Alternately, her ability to piss everyone off (or make them so obsessed with her that they murder her and hack her to pieces) [[FridgeBrilliance could be intentional, as it allows her to "reproduce" over and over]]. The same could be said for every Tomie duplicate's desire to kill any other Tomies they encounter.

Cut CM entry for having no context; if anyone wants to re-add, discuss it here first.
* AlternateCharacterInterpretation: Is Tomie a bitch because she's a [[CompleteMonster Complete Monster]] or because she's a AnthropomorphicPersonification of lust and violence, and the death and destruction she causes in her wake the whole point of her existence in terms of the reason she was put on the earth? * CompleteMonster: Tomie easily qualifies. She's a [[ManipulativeBitch Manipulative Bitch]] to everyone she meets and is completely nonchalant about anyone who gets hurt due to her actions. However, her nature as an [[EldritchAbomination Eldritch Abomination]] may excuse her.

* TooDumbToLive: Tomie, actually. Despite being killed hundreds, if not ''thousands'' of times, she still continues to mock and belittle those obsessed with her, eventually having them snap and kill her in return. One would think she would learn after awhile.

* AlternateCharacterInterpretation: Is Tomie a bitch because she's a [[CompleteMonster Complete Monster]] or because she's [[AndIMustScream desperate for someone to finally find a way to kill her permanently?]] ** Or maybe she's evil because people keep messily dismembering her, and she's grown sick of trying to be nice to them.

* DesignatedHero: Tsukiko may come across as this to some readers in the early chapters, considering how she takes pictures of boys so she could sell them to girls for profit without the boy's consent. Tomie finds out and haves her photos confiscated, and threatens Tsukiko to hand them over to the school should she continue her business. Later, Tsukiko takes pictures of Tomie from a request from a friend she could simply have refused, and ends up caught by a teacher and thus earning a suspension. Upon noticing the disturbing results after developing the pictures of Tomie, Tsukiko decides to spread the photos around the school in an attempt to humilate Tomie for...correctly stopping Tsukiko from 'abusing public morals'. In anger, Tomie charms the students into killing her, but this wouldn't have happened if Tsukiko stopped BullyingTheDragon in the first place.
