** According to DesignatedHero, "A Designated Hero is a character in a story who, despite being presented as heroic, is actually a Jerkass... This is not the same as the deliberately morally ambiguous Anti-Hero... The audience is expected to like and root for the Designated Hero". I think that we are meant to know that Foyle is a jerk. This would put him more in an Anti-Hero role rather than in DesignatedHero one.
