* HilariousInHindsight: In a twisted form of ProductPlacement, Crystal Clear (played by James Franco) names the designer labels his henchmen are wearing; one episode of MTV's ''WesternAnimation/SpiderManTheNewAnimatedSeries'' series, based off [[Film/SpiderManTrilogy the movies James Franco is involved in]], starts with Peter Parker referring to a shady guy and his henchman as "Dolce and Gabbana".
** A lot of Jay Chou's {{Concept Video}}s could possibly act as Kato's entire backstory.
** It's been known for some time that Creator/SethRogen and Creator/JamesFranco are good friends - with the release of this movie and now the [[Music/KanyeWest "Bound 2"]] parody, you can safely say the Green Hornet and the [[Film/SpiderMan1 Green Goblin]] have been going at it.

* JerkassWoobie: Britt may not be the most likable do-gooder, but considering he grew up with an absolute [[AbusiveParents dick of a father]] who always almost never there for his son and always told him he was a huge disappointment when he actually was physically present, it's no wonder Britt has a lot of issues. The fact he's struggling with the grief after his father's death also adds to this.

Renamed one trope.

* RetroactiveRecognition: Thanks to ''Series/StrangerThings'', [[Creator/DavidHarbour DA Scanlon is going to look familiar to some folks.]]

to:

* QuestionableCasting:
** The simple idea of Creator/SethRogen playing one of the most famous pulp heroes of all time got on a lot of people's nerves.
** To a minor extent, Jay Chou as Kato. The main point of contention being that some fans prefer that the role be given to martial artist actors who were probably inspired by the character and Bruce Lee to take up the practice in the first place and give them the opportunity to become a PromotedFanboy.

** "Invasion from Outer Space": [[MadScientist Dr. Eric Mabouse]] is an ex-military researcher who now seeks ultimate power. [[ScoobyDooHoax Pretending to be an alien]] and kidnapping Lenore Case to get Britt Reid and the police to clear the roads, he and his gang steal a hydrogen bomb, with Mabouse fully intending to set it off simply for the power trip. When Ms. Case escapes, he orders her hunted and killed, and [[BadBoss sets one henchman up to die with the Green Hornet and Kato]] in a DeathTrap when he suspects him of disloyalty. When the police close in, Mabouse simply decides to leave the warhead outside the city and [[NukeEm detonate it to destroy the city once he's gotten clear]], and leaves another henchman behind to die simply for objecting.

Britt is meant to be a dick.

* DesignatedHero: Britt is often too much of a dick to be likable. He does try to redeem himself, which, although while this is appreciated, makes him come off as merely annoying.

Not ymmv, sorry

* JerkassHasAPoint: There are those who agreed with Britt's father in the opening scene when he pointed out that good intentions or not, constantly getting into fights that you lack the ability to win is a terrible decision. Trying to snuff out his superhero fantasy before he got himself seriously hurt was the action of a responsible parent - its just a shame that he did so in the worst possible way.
