** Less "unacceptable" and more "unfunny." While ''WesternAnimation/KingOfTheHill'' was more of a knowing self-parody of conservatives that also depicted them as regular people instead of simple caricatures, the Goodes' characterization relied more on broad stereotypes of liberals, without as much of the down-to-earth relatability made Hank Hill and his circle likable even to viewers who didn't share the same outlook. As a result, conservatives didn't find the show satirical enough, liberals just found it unfunny and boring, and neither side was able to get attached to the characters.

* HilariousInHindsight: The show might have been more well received if it came out just a few years later, when real life liberals about as extreme as the Goodes started becoming more well-known.

** Less "unacceptable" and more "unfunny." While ''WesternAnimation/KingOfTheHill'' was more of a knowing self-parody, there isn't really anything inherently funny about liberals or conservatives ''per se'', and the Goode clan isn't as affectionately spoofed compared to Hank Hill and his family, nor are they given much characterization beyond their stereotypes. The result is they're too hard for liberal viewers to relate to, and simply annoying to conservative viewers.
** Played straight with Che, as its starvation falls into DudeNotFunny territory.

Added DiffLines:

* DudeNotFunny: The scenes where Che tries to kill other animals because he is being unintentionally starved by his owner can be ''really'' hard to watch.

** Ubuntu, via FridgeHorror, if his parents' explanation of his origin story is anything to go by. His parents assumed that since he was a white South African, his blood parents were terrible people, and they resolved to prove that with conscientious parenting they could undo his blood parents' evil and make him a functioning member of society. It's ''extremely'' doubtful that his parents' parenting style wouldn't leave Ubuntu with extreme self-image issues and feelings of self-loathing.
