* ClicheStorm : Whether intentional or not, this show feels like an example of this right from the start. There are scenes after scenes and jokes after jokes that one can almost guess the outcome, or ask oneself, "Why have I heard of this before?" At the worst one will emit an inner groan at the overused joke, but also at times one can find it charming.
** In many ways, the show is just a faster-paced, more manic, more joke-dense version of standard "middle class suburban grade school kid" animated shows. Many characters, particularly the parents, are almost absurdist caricatures of cliches.

** Jorgen, of all people, thanks to {{Flanderization}}. In the first five seasons, he was the Fairies' strong and sadistic boss who treats almost everyone else like a crap (especially Cosmo and Binky), but these traits had downplayed since season 6 onward, when he became less harsh toward the main characters, and, of course, becomes dumber and sillier as the show went on.

** Timmy's Dad, depending on who you ask. he's either [[FountainOfMemes memetically hilarious]] and got better because [[TookALevelinKindness his relationship with his son]] got quite a bit better in later seasons, or an obnoxious and neglectful so much to his son who doesn't deserve being CreatorsPet at all. however, many fans tend to the [[TheScrappy latter]].

** Timmy himself became this since he has been [[{{Flanderization}} Flanderized]] from a [[NiceGuy nice kid]] to a selfish {{Jerkass}} since seasons 4 or 5. Some fans find him insufferable and hard to love because of this. Others find this as [[AlternativeCharacterInterpretation a result of everyone's bad treatment toward him (especially in "It's a Wishful Life")]]. However, a more than majority of the fandom agree that Timmy's Jerkass status is downright negative sign for himself and [[SeasonalRot the show itself]].

** Timmy is poorly-treated by almost everyone he knows, like being neglected by his parents, his friends betray and/or ignore him at times, sitted by {{Jerkass}} AxCrazy, his fairy godparents are the only ones who care about him, but they have their moments; doesn't help that all of these are part of the show's RuleOfFunny. All these make some fans find the show too harsh.

* DesignatedMonkey: Timmy. in later seasons, he became frequent victim of many slapstick and ButtMonkey jokes, this can be more annoying than funny for some.

** Season 10 currently has a mixed to negative reception among fans. Some think it's a return to form, albeit nowhere near as good as the original seasons, while a large portion of the show's original fanbase consider it the final nail in the coffin, [[WereStillRelevantDammit especially with the usage of memes]] and the [[Main/ArtShift abrupt shift to Flash animation halfway through the season]], which, along with the move to Nicktoons Network for all new episodes and reruns, is being seen as signs of impending cancellation.
