** In his streaming of ''VideoGame/Persona5'', he quickly got flak for not liking its soundtrack, dismissing it as "jazz shit" and not actual music. This didn't suit well with both fans of the game and jazz fans, in general. As for the game itself, while he doesn't pan it as a bad game, his obvious disinterest rubbed fans the wrong way. They criticise him for not even trying to engage himself in the game and was deliberately trying to nitpick it at every turn.

Doesn't fit the definition of Hype Backlash

* HypeBacklash: Joe often gets carried away by the hype for games he's interested in. When one of these falls short of his expectations... well, that's when he gets ''really'' angry.

Added DiffLines:

** Joe and Other Joe playing through ''VideoGame/JusticeLeagueCosmicChaos'' had this reaction when he flipped out over the childish jokes and perceived de-powering of Superman. Keep in mind that the game is a light-hearted beat-em-up firmly targeted for kids under 10. It came to a head when he heard one of Superman's random battle lines, "I'd like to speak to your supervisor," and absolutely lost his shit, yelling at the top of his lungs and stomping off in a huff. He lashed out at the developers for making Superman a "Karen." Many viewers thought Joe was taking the game ''way'' too seriously and noted that the "Karen" line was a standard superhero taunt long before that trend came to be.

Added DiffLines:

** The start of the 2020s, Joe was starting to phase out his "classic" review style with just him reviewing the game with the more "discussion"-type style that was reserved for movies, tv shows, spoiler reviews, extended review for said game and ''Angry Discussions" which feature him, Other Joe and Alex (and others such as Delrith). This angered some fans to the point some stopped watching these specific reviews entirely in favor of his "classic" reviews.

* PetPeeveTrope: Joe has an assortment, some of whom will ultimately affect the score for an Angry Review.
** FourPointScale: him and his team absolutely insists on averting this for their reviews due to their complete disdain for most of the industry's news media adopting it and general audiences not fully understanding the show's approach to video game reviews. Joe has repeatedly reminded viewers that a 5/10 means what it ''should'' mean - "average", not "bad" as most of the media labels.
** {{Microtransactions}}: per HarsherInHindsight, due to the overabundance of this throughout the medium and having seen such egregrious price tags that makes his blood boil (like a weapon skin in ''VideoGame/{{Valorant}}'' costing nearly $100), Joe is forced to dock points off of an Angry Review if they're present.
** ObviousBeta: similar to {{Microtransactions}}, if a game (especially a "live-service") has severe issues at launch involving GoodBadBugs, server instabilities, game crashes and inconsistent presentation/visuals[[note]]Screen-tearing, missing assets and textures, disppearing heads-up display/user interface, etc.[[/note]], Joe will take these things into account for an Angry Review and score the game for what it is at release, not for what it can/will be post-launch, even if these issues might be resolved down the line.

Moving to trivia

* AuthorsSavingThrow: Joe's habit of interrupting Alex and Other Joe during discussion videos (especially when he's actually angry) kept getting a lot of flak for a good long while. Thankfully, it appears that recently, he's been trying to curb this habit and allowing others to finish their points before trying to rebut them.

* CriticalResearchFailure:
** In his review of ''WesternAnimation/RatchetAndClank'' he claims that the movie is just a bunch of cutscenes from the game edited into a movie. This is a false claim as the movie was actually finished before the game and was even showed off at [[http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/04/10/ratchet-and-clank-movie-showing-at-cannes-in-may film festivals before arriving into theatres.]]
** In his ''VideoGame/MarvelVsCapcomInfinite'' Angry Review, he noted a few changes that appeared to be made for casual players at the expense of the dedicated fans: a simplified button layout, slower gameplay, and 2-on-2 battles. The button layout is basically the same as the layout in ''VideoGame/MarvelVsCapcom2''[[note]]It replaces the assist buttons with the Infinity Stone and character switch buttons[[/note]], and many of the dedicated fans don't consider the latter two changes to be problems.
** In his movie review of ''Film/BoratSubsequentMoviefilm'', Joe is under the impression that [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kazakhstan Kazakhstan]] is a fictional country.

* HePannedItNowHeSucks: Whenever Joe gives an EightPointEight review, expect someone, or a large amount of detractors, to comment about how "wrong" he is. His complete aversion of the FourPointScale (expanded on the main page) can make this worse.

*** As a result, Angry Joe attempted to resolve this situation by uploading an Extended Review Discussion with Other Joe and Alex. Although they were able to flesh out their reasons for disliking ''Part II'' and also claiming that they never had any vendetta against creative director Neil Druckmann, there were fans that still panned him, regardless because of his stance on the game. It got to the point that Joe was infamously banned from [=ResetEra=] (a notoriously far left-leaning games forum that professional journalists frequent) for his low score of the game and certain statements he said during it.

** In his Angry Review with ''VideoGame/TheLastOfUsPartII'', he panned the game and gave it a 6/10. Although some people agreed with him, some game journalists and some fans have accused him of being either "toxic" or sexist for constantly hating on Abby and the game, with some of them even blaming him and his review for the death threats sent against Creator/LauraBailey (Abby's voice actress). Further criticism of his review comes from his actions when playing on stream - complaining about a perceived anti-male agenda, looking at the leaks before the game came out, and "not paying attention to the story it was trying to convey" and naively believing a fake leaked story about the game on 4chan was real.

Destiny 2 was in production in 2015, long before Kekistan became a thing, so the resemblance was purely coincidental so it's understandable for Joe to find it silly

** A little more minor one, but his ''VideoGame/Destiny2'' Angry Review [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLdQWtkH0aQ&feature=youtu.be&t=24m26s had him laughing]] [[https://www.polygon.com/2017/9/12/16296256/destiny-2-armor-hate-group-symbol-kek-kekistan-flag at the story]] that a symbol from the game was removed due to it resembling a white nationalist meme of "Kekistan". Joe laughed it off and didn't see the connection of the "Kekistan" symbol to white nationalism, so his accusations become more jarring when one can simply google the [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reichskriegsflagge#/media/File:War_Ensign_of_Germany_(1938-1945).svg Nazi Reichskriegsflagg]] and compare it to the flag of Kekistan to see the connection.

* RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap: When Alex first joined the set for movie reviews, he was widely disliked for his overly negative points, and being seen as bland compared to others. Throughout 2019 and 2020, Alex began growing on a lot of people, particularly his slightly snarky attitude that has led to some genuinely funny moments. In addition, his contributions to the Angry Reviews' skits have increased and instead of making only negative points when he's present in discussions, he'll say positive aspects, while backing up his statements, something that's proven to be valid for many viewers. Out of all the Extended Review Discussions with Alex, many fans believe that ''The Last of Us: Part II'' review was him at his best for pointing out flaws that were correct. With Delrith leaving the show, Alex is now responsible for the Rapid Fire Reviews, which has been lauded by fans for its well-spoken dialogue and honest critique, as well as presenting an interesting and contrasting style to Joe's review format, leading some to affectionately dubbing Rapid Fire as the "[[{{Foil}} Calm Alex Show]]".

** Joe's video of him playing ''VideoGame/{{Fortnite}}'' as Superman caught flak from some circles for what they felt was him going into the game too blindly negative, as well as prioritizing comic accuracy over RuleOfFun when he complains about Superman using guns. He was also accused of being a {{Hypocrite}} for complaining about having to unlock the Superman skin through gameplay instead of just being able to buy it, when he's been championing the opposite for years.
