* PortingDisaster: Though eventually patched, the PC version has a bug where placed decorations in mansion may disappear. There's also how the game will not work on systems above Windows XP anymore, without hacking through with a program called 3D Analyzer, and even then not all systems could work.

There's also how the game will not work on systems above Windows XP anymore, anymore (technically it still works but the renderer only produces garbled images, rendering anything but the menu unintelligible), without hacking through with a program called 3D Analyzer, DX Ripper, and even then not all systems could work.

* NoProblemWithLicensedGames: The game received favorable reviews, and was good enough at being a ''Franchise/GrandTheftAuto''-style WideOpenSandbox that Rockstar themselves took several of its gameplay element (a crew you can keep track of through your phone, a ring based notoriety system based on getting out of the law's sight, and over the hood aiming) for ''VideoGame/GrandTheftAutoIV''.

* SugerWiki/AwesomeMusic: The game is notably one of the few ''Franchise/GrandTheftAuto'' clones of its time to feature original music playing during missions, most of it being 80's-style synths in the style of the Music/GiorgioMoroder's film soundtrack. * FunnyMoments: The special edition has an outtakes reel. JayMohr especially is HILARIOUS.

* DemonicSpiders [[{{BFG}} Bazooka]], [[ChainsawGood chainsaw]] and GrenadeLauncher users all can OneHitKill Tony. Also the {{Pirates}} in the boat smuggling runs as they can easily destroy the boat Tony has to use.
* EsotericHappyEnding, [[spoiler:effectively replacing the DownerEnding in the movie. By this point Tony is assumed to have learned his bitter lessons from the events in the movie, though, and does show some good in him.]]

* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: In the outdoor part of the opening shootout, Tony's pet tiger suddenly comes out of nowhere, attacks one of Sosa's {{Mooks}}, and drags him away. Nobody even acknowledges this, and the shootout just resumes.

* Gamebreaker: Getting good at the negotiation QuickTimeEvent is useful not only for saving money when it's laundered and scoring drugs to sell, but can make the gang and cop heat mechanics all but a nonissue. For the latter two, one can simply negotiate with the gangs around Miami to drop gang heat, shoot all of them dead for the rewards and to remove the heat from that, then repeat whenever one wants gang heat down, then with the cops stand in the middle of the street with a firearm, wait for the cops to get aggravated enough for one to show up, then put your weapon away and negotiate to drop cop heat then repeat until it is zero, all without ever having to spend a cent to get either down and boosting one's balls at the same time.

** Tony's refusal to shoot civilians, while an impressive showing of GameplayAndStoryIntegration, can cost some players a mission in a heated gun fight. Nothing is more annoying than shooting at some enemy gun men in the middle of the street and having Tony suddenly stop firing because an innocent woman is in the way. Naturally, enemies are not bound to this game mechanic and will gladly take advantage of it. Fortunately at least during Blind Rage mode Tony will shoot Civilians without a problem.
