* ShipSinking: While most of the ships like Yui, Tsugumi or Marika never had a serious chance, they kept going steady for several years before Yui finally set the stage for the end by confessing and being rejected, followed in short order by Marika and the others until it was down to just Onodera and Chitoge, the latter of whom won out. Not much surprise given the title, but Onodera lasted longer than all the others and could have won if she'd just acted sooner.

* BaseBreakingCharacter: While Kosaki is popular with the Japanese fandom due to her YamatoNadeshiko traits, topping character polls of the series, she is a much more divisive figurein Western fandom. In the latter fandom she's either "weak and boring" or "the only truly nice girl in the harem," with little middle ground.
** Chitoge's popularity among the fans of the series is split between those who love her for being a compelling heroine with great character development during the manga's run, and those who hater her and see her as a borderline [[TheScrappy scrappy]] whose violent [[{{Tsundere}} tsundere]] traits (''especially'' at the beginning) with regards to Raku rubbed people off the wrong way. Her actions near the end of manga (see BrokenBase below) split the fandom over her character even ''further''.

** The fans' reception to the manga's conclusion [[spoiler: (Raku choosing Chitoge over the other girls, especially Onodera)]] is...divisive so to speak.

** Raku is either liked for being one of the few unique harem protagonists in recent years or is loathed for being a supremely dense idiot whose obliviousness towards the other girls' feelings border over insensitivity.

* FanPreferredCouple: Several fans, partly due to ArcFatigue and frustration with ever-complicating harem hijinks, have expressed the desire for the story to focus more on Shuu/Ruri than any of the potential couplings of the main characters. To the point that many such fans subjected Raku to some DieForOurShip when chapters 113-114 looked like it was a set-up for Ruri to join his harem, although this sentiment was mitigated with the presence of Shuu and the ShipTease resolution with him in chapter 115. Their shared mini-arc in Chapters 207-209[[note]]which has Shuu pouring his heart out to Ruri [[spoiler:on self-reflections he's never even told his closest friend Raku and admitting that it's partially because he feels [[NotSoDifferent that she can understand him better in some ways because they're so similar]]]] and has her finally admitting [[spoiler:to herself that she's fallen for his [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold heart of gold]]]][[/note]] threw said shippers into a frenzy.
** At least in some circles, Marika and [[BigNameFan Y-san from Chiba Prefecture]]. The amount of effort the man puts into voting for Marika during fan polls actually impressed some fans.

* RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap:
** Haru eventually as well, basically turning her character into a {{Tsundere}} Onodera after she finally starts to come around regarding how she views Raku.
* RomanticPlotTumor: Between the ArcFatigue and the BalancedHarem staying so balanced that NoRomanticResolution is almost guaranteed, many fans have stated that the main romance is the worst thing about the series.

very long stretch of chapters that NoRomanticResolution is almost guaranteed, many fans have stated that only rarely addresses the main romance is plot. The entire stretch of padding took well over a year to get through.
* RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap: Haru was initially highly unpopular for her unfair attitude and unpleasant behavior, including going so far as to threaten to break Raku's pendant if he turned out to be
the worst thing about the series.'prince' that helped her earlier. However, as she interacted with him more she mellowed out considerably and even became more popular than her sister with some fans, who believe that she has more in common with Raku and is just all around more interesting.

* SoOkayItsAverage: For some.

* ValuesDissonance: To western viewers it can seem very strange that Kyokou-sensei would quit her job just because she was getting married, or that during the career counciling in 122 marriage would be seen as an alternative to a career instead of a seperate issue. While it is uncommon, but not unheard of, for a woman to quit her job in The West due to getting married, pregnancy is usally the more deciding factor, or more cynical, the husbands income, in Japan and Eastern countries it's common enough to be expected.
