* HilariousInHindsight: This show introduced the Kreeyans, an all female race with a bee-like lifecycle, in VideoGame/MortalKombatX we're introduced to the Kytinn, an insectoid race of [[TheWormThatWalks sentient beehives]].

** Siro in general can be considered this. He's presented as a hot-headed JerkWithAHeartOfGold who eventually ''learns his lesson'', but the series never manages to develop him beyond being a JerkAss who has no qualms torturing his enemies and spitefully remind Kung Lao of his dead girlfriend when the latter tells him he should train more.

There is no story context as to why they are so powerful and no reason how they are immune to ''everything''. Shao Kahn just summons them and they walk through the entire cast, killing everyone except Raiden.]]

* HarsherInHindsight: The ending to the show, where [[spoiler:Shao Kahn kills everyone]], is oddly prescient of ''VideoGame/MortalKombat9'', which ends with [[spoiler:Shao Kahn killing ''almost'' everyone]]. In both cases, Raiden unwittingly caused the destruction and Kahn used super-powerful proxies to fight in his stead instead of fighting himself.
** Before Shang Tsung and Quan Chi formed the Deadly Alliance they formed the Unholy Alliance.
** If the Kreeyans were a little more insectoid and a little less sexy they’d be Kytinn.
* HilariousInHindsight: In the first episode, the spirit of Scorpion possesses Takeda, one of the Baron's bodyguards. Years later in MKX, a warrior named Takeda using chain whips and trained by the Shirai Ryu appears.

* DiabolusExMachina: The Shadow Priests plow through the entire cast in the finale, leaving Shao Kahn to claim victory.
