** Also the scene where the translation machine was used to translate the Martian leader's broadcast. [[TranslationTrainWreck The translation made no sense]], so it seems more likely the machine just didn't work. Then again, maybe they were just intentionally saying nonsense [[AliensAreBastards just to screw with the humans]], having gathered on [[GullibleLemmings they forgave too easily]]? Or again, perhaps the machine simply had quite locked onto the language yet.

The disembodied, but still alive, heads of two of the main cast. cast.
** The Martians themselves can be very unsettling, especially their skull-like faces.

** In the ending we get Natalie Portman [[spoiler: giving the movie's true hero a medal and kissing him]]. An apparent reference to ''StarWars: ANewHope'', 3 years before Portman became the mother of both characters in that scene in ''ThePhantomMenace''.

** Creator/NataliePortman, Creator/JackBlack, and Sarah Jessica Parker (to a lesser extent), were not famous when this movie came out and would only later be recognized, making this all-star cast even more impressive.

* FridgeBrilliance: When nuclear weapons are used against the the Martians they capture the explosive force of the nuke, and smoke it! They use it like a balloon and it gives them high pitched helium voices. Fridge Brilliance kicks in when you realize that a hydrogen bomb really does produce helium as a by-product of nuclear fusion.
* FridgeLogic: How come [[spoiler:Donald Kessler and Nathalie Lake]]'s heads can breathe if it's been established the Martians breathe nitrogen? Why are they alive at all?
** Conversely, why CAN'T the Martians breathe on Earth considering Earth's atmosphere is in fact 78% nitrogen?
*** Two reasons: (1) Because Earthís atmosphere is also about 20% oxygen, which, to a species that breathes nitrogen, would have similar effects on the lungs as a 20% fluorine atmosphere would on ours. (2) For the same reasons why we canít breathe in a 78% oxygen atmosphere for very long: it causes acute toxic effects.

** It makes sense out of context. It's ''[[AcceptableTargets Congress.]]''

Added DiffLines:

** The French government trying to negotiate with the martians and being repaid with death and destruction can be hard to watch now that several acts of terrorism have been carried out in France by refugees and migrants.

* InkstainAdaptation: There are fans of the original Mars Attacks cards who don't care at all for the film's comedic tone.
