* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: In terms of forces of nature, the Darkness itself -- as a consequence of the BalanceBetweenGoodAndEvil CluelessAesop. We're supposed to see it as NotEvilJustMisunderstood... But so far, every major problem has had the Darkness at its source, with every major solution being made possible by the Light. Meanwhile, any DarkIsNotEvil examples are extremely rare, and they still seem to favor the Light anyway -- thus arguably coming across as merely "DarkIsEvil that just so happens to be kept in check by equal, if not greater, LightIsGood" instead. Quite frankly, some fans prefer the [[InformedWrongness so-called]] "tyranny of Light" as a result -- at least that system doesn't seem to carry the same risk of such large-scale misery. In fact, this is one of the main factors behind the widespread desire for a LightIsNotGood major threat, believed to be the only way to finally subvert this.

* DieForOurShip: The extreme levels of vitriol towards Kairi and Namine by {{Yaoi Fangirl}}s, particularly fans of Sora/Riku and Axel/Roxas, is ''legendary'', to the point the ''Kingdom Hearts'' fanbase has become a cautionary tale for many newcomers to shipping fandom. [[NeverLiveItDown Despite the fact that a lot of the hate has largely died down over time]].

** Marluxia, whose design is heavily influenced by the GrimReaper, is voiced by Creator/KeithFerguson. He would later go on to voice another character in {{Overwatch}} who goes by the alias Reaper and is also centered around GrimReaper motifs.

* InternetBackdraft: Ask the fandom what they think about ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyXV'' and about ''Kingdom Hearts III'' being delayed at least until it's finished. Go on. We ''dare'' you.

* ThatOneLevel:
** The Olympus Coliseum visits are starting to wear out their welcome, largely because there's usually little to no exploration and the player simply enters the tournament to fight several waves of enemies until they get to the boss. Also repetitive are the pot-smashing MiniGame, the overused "two words" RunningGag, and Hercules and Phil treating Sora like a rookie hero-wannabe. Made up for slightly by James Woods and the surprise of seeing which ''Final Fantasy'' hero Hades has roped into service this time through.
** Agrabah gets even more flack for constant re-appearances. It was considered a terrific level back in the original game, but it's lost more and more luster with each passing appearance, and it generally has ''less'' going for it than Olympus Coliseum does.
** Atlantica in both ''Kingdom Hearts'' and ''Kingdom Hearts II'', being [[UnderTheSea a water level]] this isn't surprising. In the first game the water is hard to move about in, the layout of the world is confusing, and areas are generally huge. The second game it's a bit of a stretch to even call Atlantica a ''world'', you just play a series of rhythm mini-games, able to play a new one when you progress in the story enough. There's absolutely ''no'' exploration or combat.

** Many fans want the next ArcVillain to be the polar opposite of [[ArcFatigue Xehanort]] -- i.e.: a female, LightIsNotGood AntiVillain.

* BeamMeUpScotty: A lot of fanart, fan-animation, etc. depict the keyblade being swung with the teeth facing ''forward'', like an ax, when in the actual games it's swung with the teeth facing ''backward'', like a blunt-force object. A side-effect of this is that Ventus' default keyblade, Wayward Wind, is often depicted in fanart with the teeth facing the wrong way, which is very noticeable given Wayward Wind's asymmetric design.

* ArchivePanic: There's seven games in the series (eight counting the ''2.8'' prologue, nine counting ''chi'') telling one continuous story, and each of them is a full-length RPG that can take dozens of hours to complete without even going for the optional content. Playing through the entire series can take months.

It's gotten to the point that several "compilation" titles that are released include a "[[HowWeGotHere Archive Mode]]" of sorts just to catch everyone up to speed.

** The ''Days'' adaption in 1.5 Remix was criticised for it's awkward cuts between fight scenes and for not including scenes from the Disney worlds. The adaption of ''coded'' in 2.5 Remix does include scenes for fights and the Disney worlds making the cuts much less jarring and telling the story more coherently. When 1.5 Remix was put on PS4, a scene for [[spoiler: Roxas fighting Xion]] was added.
** The Disney elements have been TheArtifact since ''Days'', but there has been some effort to avoid this starting from ''coded''. Donald and Goofy are given a bigger role in ''coded'' after getting DemotedToExtra and return to being party members for ''Kingdom Hearts III'' and a scene added to the storyline of ''coded'' during 2.5 Remix has Maleficent [[spoiler: making a connection between the Datascape and the Book of Prophecies from ''chi'']], adding context to her appearance in ''3D'' and reversing the VillainDecay she has gone through. Additionally, the Disney worlds are back to having a story reason for getting visited as of ''3D'' (where visiting them was necessary to get the ability to [[spoiler: save the protagonists of ''Birth By Sleep'' and ''Days'']]) and '''III''' (where Sora goes to Olympus Coliseum specifically to train).
** Kairi has been DemotedToExtra as of ''Days''. [[spoiler: She gets called in to help in the secret ending of ''3D'']].

** The series has long been criticized for its entries being spread over multiple consoles from both Nintendo and Sony, making it a bit tricky to keep up. The 1.2+2.5 release for the [=PS4=], in tandem with the 2.8 release that compiles ''chi'' and ''3D'', mean the entire series is now sans ''Days'' and ''re:coded'' are playable on a single console.[[note]]And if you really want to play them it isn't much of a hassle, as they're on the same console, the Nintendo DS[[/note]]
