explodes. These were to appear more in the film, but were deemed a poor match for the on-set prop.
** The shark itself, which is only ''slightly'' better than that featured in [[Film/Jaws3D the previous movie]]. In several shots you can see the rod used to move the mechanical shark. It's telling when members of the production staff, including the director, are calling it a "concrete log with teeth".

* IdiotPlot: The film has been mercilessly mocked for the notion that the shark was actively seeking revenge against the Brody family for the deaths of the sharks to come before it. It isn't helped by the Brody family's decision to vacation in the Bahamas so soon after Sean's death, as many a viewer is simply left wondering why the family hasn't straight up left the coast altogether after all they've already been through. Creator/RichardJeni had [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5J5jHhN-lfQ a whole routine]] calling out how the movie manages to make itself dumber as it progresses.

Up To Eleven is a defunct trope

* FranchiseOriginalSin: As [[http://jabootu.net/?p=589 this review]] points out, the main things this movie is mocked for (the shark roaring and the shark seeking revenge) were actually present to some degree in the previous films (E.G in ''Film/Jaws2'' Martin points out it's weird they are being attacked by another shark and half-seriously suggests it might be looking for revenge. However, the whole idea is only brought up in one scene to be shot down and forgotten about.) Why this film is so reviled is mainly because it takes those two story elements and brings them UpToEleven, as if someone was deliberately trying to take the most ridiculous bits of the ''Jaws'' universe and make them stand out as much as possible.

*** Related to that, the only adjustment to the final scene is to have a dubbed line of Ellen telling Michael to take good care of him. But we're still left with his now inexplicable sadness and her asking him if he's going to be okay.

** Jake dies in the original ending, resulting in Ellen quietly asking Mike "You gonna be okay?", as he's now lost his brother and his best friend to this creature in the span of only a few weeks. It takes a long time for him to answer and even then, it's pretty obvious that his "Yeah" isn't sincere. For such a bad movie, it's a decently executed BittersweetEnding.

* FranchiseOriginalSin: * OlderThanTheyThink: As [[http://jabootu.net/?p=589 this review]] points out, the main things this movie is mocked for (the shark roaring and the shark seeking revenge) were actually present to some degree in the previous films (E.G in ''Film/Jaws2'' Martin points out it's weird they are being attacked by another shark and half-seriously suggests it might be looking for revenge.
