*WhatAnIdiot: Maxwell's entire crusade to destroy Millennium and (going against the Pope's orders) slaughtering England's Protestant population and "mass conversion." If he had just kept his fanaticism in check, and had the Papal Knights keep to the original mission of only fighting Millennium and rescuing civilians, they would have A. Been the saviors of London and make the Hellsing Organization look incompetent, and B. Would have no doubt inspired many British Civilians to convert to the religeon of their saviors due to them swooping in and killing unholy Nazi Vampires. But no, instead they became cannon fodder for Alucard's Level 0, lost almost all of their fighting force, have pretty much made themselves eternal enemies of the UK (and elsewhere, assuming word of their atrocious actions got out), and are still reeling from the loss far into the epilogue.

* MartyStu: Alucard, specifically a GodModeSue. It's not necessarily a bad thing, though, and a good chunk of the plot comes from other people noticing this and working out roundabout ways to either put him out of action permanently or avoid having to fight him altogether.

* RonTheDeathEater: Iscariot members are over villainous in fanfiction. Mostly due to Shipping: Anderson sometimes is turned into a rapist to create Wangst for the Alucard pairing of choice (even in canon, Anderson was disgusted to the idea of even manhandling Integra against her will). Integra is also victim of this in the hands of Alucard/Seras shippers, when she's not assumed dead in the beginning (or married to someone else), she's made a Soap Opera villain. Pip is sometimes pictured as a RomanticFalseLead.

That's Adaptational Heroism.
* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: ** The anime made Alucard more noble than his manga counterpart -- he only turns Seras after explaining his entire plan to her, instead of shooting her first and then asking if she doesn't want to die afterwards; and his bond with Integra is much more voluntary on his part, submitting himself to her after she displays her courage rather than because of the blood pact with the Hellsing clan. ** There's some hints in briefest moments of a single flashback that implies Anderson didn't willingly become a regenerator, but it's never expounded upon.

** Most of the evil characters who die within the first five OVAs are this. Many of them have some really interesting power mixed with a really unique appearance. And many of them die simply because they aren't Alucard, Anderson or Walter

** Heinkel really had it rough, even compared to the other characters. And in a series like this, that's really saying something. His teacher, Alexander Anderson, gave up his life, in vain nonetheless, to try to defeat Alucard. Then, after his corpse was stomped on by , Yumie, in a blind rage, tried to rush him, only to get cut to pieces. Then, as he tries to avenge Yumie, he gets half her face shot off by The Captain before getting one shot in. Then, as it seems The Captain is about to finish him off, to which he'd be much better off as at this point, he refuses to and pities Heinkel by giving him bandages to wrap his face in, which he took as a huge middle finger to his entire cause. So, all in all, he lost his teacher, his best friend, half his face, and his pride.

** The Major, the psychotic leader of the "Last Battalion" of the Nazi remnant Millennium, is an unassuming, bespectacled, jovial fat little man is defined by his love of war (despite not fighting himself). After surviving UsefulNotes/WorldWarII (and committing atrocities in that war), The Major consolidated his forces in South America, where they awaited their chance for one final, glorious combat. Acting behind the scenes, the Major had multiple humans turned into vampires, having them slaughter innocent people to slowly reveal himself to Hellsing. Finally taking center stage, the Major launched an attack on London, obliterating everything he saw and having his men slaughter every living thing in sight, including babies. The Major confesses there is no end goal; combat and war are their own end. The Major shows no hesitation in killing one of his own officers when he objects to the Major carelessly sacrificing their soldiers, and his ultimate goal is to die at the conclusion of his war, after having created one last great display of the carnage he so loves. ** Zorin Blitz lays siege to the Hellsing mansion with her forces and mind rapes Seras by delving deep into her memories and forcing her to relive her painful childhood, where she had to watch her parents be murdered by gangsters and her mother's corpse being raped. While Seras is trapped in the illusion, the psychotic Zorin hacks off her arm, stabs her through the back, and cuts her eyes. Pip and his two remaining squad members arrive and manage to temporarily disable Zorin by shooting her multiple times. Pip tries to escape with the badly wounded Seras, but Zorin kills him by stabbing him through the back with her scythe. To top it all off, as Seras cradles his dead body and cries for him, Zorin mocks Pip, calling him an "insect," and prepares to kill Seras and her fellow soldiers.

* FriendlyFandoms: With due in no small part to their shared motifs, characters (no, not the "Alucard"-based one), powers and voice actors. It helps that two chapters of the manga are named "Castlevania" as a ShoutOut. Fans of Curse of Darkness probably got a kick out of seeing Creator/CrispinFreeman and Liam O'Brien go at it again in the 9th OVA.
