* SuperlativeDubbing: The original TV series is notable for rocket-launching Creator/CrispinFreeman's voice-acting career (though he was already known thanks to LightNovel/Slayers), and is also one of the first dubbed anime series to feature characters with convincing foreign accents, due in part to most key roles being voiced by actual UK expats. The [=OVAs=] would have the entire main cast of the TV series reprise their roles, while adding other talented actors to the roster. In short; Hellsing as a whole features one of the most exceptional dubs to ever come out.

* MagnificentBastard: The Major, who demonstrates his charisma and passion with a speech of his love of war, all to motivate his troops to begin a war that levels London, while manipulating all of his enemies into doing exactly what he wants them to do when he wants them to do it. He seems to conduct everything like the conductor of a symphony, which is even lampshaded at one point. He also came up with a plan to defeat his biggest enemy, the near immortal vampire, Alucard, while still managing to maintain his own humanity on his own terms, and not to any external powers. When all is said and done, the Major may as well have succeeded.

** Zorin Blitz lays siege to the Hellsing mansion with her forces and mind rapes Seras by delving deep into her memories and forcing her to relive her painful childhood, where she had to watch her parents be murdered by gangsters and her mother's corpse being raped. While Seras is trapped in the illusion, the psychotic Zorin hacks off her arm, stabs her through the back, and cuts her eyes. Pip and his two remaining squad members arrive and manage to temporarily disable Zorin by shooting her multiple times. Pip tries to escape with the badly wounded Seras, but Zorin kills him by stabbing him through the back with her scythe. To top it all off, as Seras cradles his dead body and cries for him, Zorin mocks Pip, calling him an "insect," and prepares to kill Seras and her fellow soldiers.

* CompleteMonster: Incognito is a sadomasochistic vampire who describes himself as living only for "total destruction". Working for his unseen boss, Incognito oversees the creation of the FREAK chip, which turns people into violent, unstable vampires. Incognito has been allowing those implanted with it to run amok and kill as they please. When the British air force comes to investigate his castle, Incognito infects them with his chip, stripping them of their humanity and turning them into his unquestioning soldiers. * UnfortunateImplications: The portrayal of the Catholic Church (shown as fanatic, fundamentalist, corrupt, genocidal megalomaniacs who literally are pals with Nazis) and Catholics in general as borderline AlwaysChaoticEvil (with the singular exception of Father Anderson) has raised a lot of eyebrows.

* DeaderThanDisco: Much like with the original Anime/FullmetalAlchemist 2003 series, the first Hellsing adaptation from Gonzo underwent something similar against the later Hellsing Ultimate. The original was an underground phenomenon in America and gained praise for its excellent dub, interesting take on vampires, unique visual style, and badass fight scenes. It also happened to come in midst of the vampire craze generated by products like BladeTrilogy and Film/Underworld, which ensured a punk anime about a gun-toting Dracula received a lot of attention even by non-anime fans. However, only a few years later Ultimate came along, and it brought the dub voice cast back, a more faithful exploration of the manga's mythology, and even more badass fight scenes. It also increased interest in the original manga, which led to people to realize just how much the Gonzo series had overtaken it and to pick it apart for the usual Gonzo sins, including cheap animation and a divisive GeckoEnding. Today, while the Gonzo adaptation is still remembered for its soundtrack as well as other traits (see Love Ir Or Hate Ir below), it's Ultimate the one that retains an iconic status.
