* StrawmanHasAPoint: As completely ''insane'' as Tony was, he did kinda have a point that the camp was totally ineffectual at reducing the campers' weight and needed a lot of change.

Although it seems that the previous owners were more concerned about the kids feeling good about themselves then making them lose weight.

** Gerry's letter to his grandmother begins "Somebody once said WarIsHell, but they'd never been to fat camp." This was ''before'' Tony completely lost his mind and turned into a psychopath, at that point all that had been done was to confiscate their hidden stores of food and remove some of the recreational facilities.

It does come off as played-for-comedy melodrama, though, especially in comparison to what happens next.

Cut for having no context; if anyone wants to re-add, discuss it here first.

** Pat also pointed that out after they got rid of Tony and found a happy medium between not helping them lose weight at all and the nightmare that was Tony Perkis.

** Pat also pointed that out after they got rid of Tony and found a happy medium between not helping them lose weight at all and the nightmare that was Tony Perkis.Perkis. * WhatAnIdiot: At one point, Gerry and the other campers mastermind a scheme to "kidnap" Tony by tricking him into falling into a pit, and then tying him up and then locking him up. When the counselors find out, they're horrified, since as bad as Tony is, it's still ''illegal'' to kidnap someone. So Pat moves to let Tony out, and if Tony had left it at that, he would've won. Instead, when Pat takes off Tony's gag, Tony takes the opportunity to insult Pat and threaten him, prompting Pat to put the gag back on and offer to help the kids with their plans instead of freeing Tony. If Tony had been able to turn off his {{Jerkass}} personality for ''one measly second'', he would've gotten off scot-free.

* MoralEventHorizon: Tony was a complete dickbag the whole movie, but planning to make a bunch of out-of-shape kids climb a massive rock face barehanded, something even the most physically fit child at that age would have trouble with, woul endanger their lives. Really, you can't blame the kids for locking him up after that.
