** The removal of the "View image" button in February 2018. Better for image creators or copyright owners, worse for everyone else.

* HilariousInHindsight: On AprilFoolsDay in 2014, Google announced that Franchise/{{Pokemon}} had taken up residence in Google Maps and challenged users to go catch 'em all using their map app. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4YMD6xELI_k Their promotional video is almost prophetic frame by frame]]. In 2016, catching Pokémon in the real world became a reality with ''VideoGame/PokemonGo''. Even better is that the one of the developers, Niantic Labs, started off from Google before becoming independent. It was later revealed in a [[http://nintendoeverything.com/niantic-delves-more-into-the-origins-of-pokemon-go/ Famitsu interview with Niantic Labs]] that they actually got the idea from that April Fool's joke.

The marker used also has the same design as the Pokémon Go Plus Bluetooth peripheral.

** The famous Super Bowl 2010 ad, [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnsSUqgkDwU AKA "Parisian Love"]].
** In 2011, Google Japan, instead of their usual AprilFoolsDay joke, showed never-before-seen drawings from its 2009 Google Doodle competition, themed "What I Love About Japan" drawn by Japanese schoolchildren.

* ScrappyMechanic: Google indexes [[{{Imageboards}} 4chan]] threads even though, due to 4chan's thread-purging system, most threads in search results are 404 errors by the time almost anybody sees them. Just to add salt to the wound, Google never caches 4chan results. So what's even the point of indexing 4chan?
