* FriendlyFandoms: Naturally, there's a lot of crossovers with WorldOfTanks, and TabletopGame/FlamesOfWar players are at least vaguely aware of it.

* HilariousInHindsight: Fans of this series and WorldOfTanks have made [[http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CrGpS6_KbBw mods for the game based on the tanks of the series]]. Now there is a cross promotion for World of Tanks and Girls und Panzer as it launched in Japan.

* SpiritualLicensee: People have called it the AnimatedAdaptation of ''WorldOfTanks''. Indeed, one of the Ōarai tank crews met playing "an online tank game". ** In ''Phase Erika'', not only does Erika's admiration for Maho continue to get played this way, Erika also has a follower who admires her the same way, and is explicitly stated to love her. And ''Miho'' is shown musing how beautiful Continuation's Mika is when she first sees her playing her kantele ...

* FanPreferredPairing: Kay and Darjeeling became a very popular pairing at the start of 2016, despite the fact that the two have [[ShipsThatPassInTheNight very little interaction with each other]]. Some fans think this was a byproduct of [[VideoGame/KantaiCollection another America/Britsh pairing]] that got popular around the same time. Another possibility is the idea that OppositesAttract, and the loud, jolly, outspoken Kay is practically the polar opposite of the calm and refined Darjeeling. It also helps that both girls just happen to be beautiful blondes as well.

** Also in ''Motto Love Love Sakusen Desu'', it seems that all members of Chi-Ha-Tan's Sensha-do team are in love with their commander, Nishi. Like when a misunderstanding convinces them that if you were to charge at her, she'd give you a kiss, she quickly finds herself running from the whole team.

Added DiffLines:

** In the ''Maginot'' manga, Éclair has a fangirl-crush on Nishizumi Shiho, being quite enamoured by her fighting style and beauty.

* DracoInLeatherPants: Erika, Maho's {{Jerkass}} lieutenant, has picked up a [[JerkassDissonance fan following]] as powerful as the other {{Ensemble Darkhorse}}s listed below, despite often [[AlphaBitch mocking]] Miho, [[TheProudElite looking down]] on other schools, [[KickTheDog complaining]] about Maho's decision to PetTheDog by [[spoiler:letting Mako take her helicopter to visit her grandmother in the hospital]], and even shooting a [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking nasty glare]] at [[spoiler:the teammate who walked over to thank and encourage Miho for saving her, which, combined with her attitude as Miho refuses to abandon Rabbit Team even as Kuromorimine closes in, indicates that she strongly prioritizes victory even over the safety of her troops]].

* EnsembleDarkhorse: Due to the CastOfSnowflakes nature of every team, it's very easy to gain favorites. Some of the following are the more obvious ones:
** Yukari seems to be the most popular of Miho's crew due to her [[SeriousBusiness sheer enthusiasm]] for tanks. Character polls regularly place her in the lead by a large margin.
** Hippo Team's Erwin Rommel {{Expy}} is a popular choice.
** Anzu, Ōarai's Student Council President.
** Oona Aya of Rabbit Team (the {{Meganekko}}).
** Another member of Rabbit Team, Saki Maruyama. Despite having exactly one line in episode 12, Japanese fandom has latched on to her. As of this writing, she's the ''only'' member of the cast with an official Twitter icon/avatar available on the Girls und Panzer's website giveout page [[http://girls-und-panzer.jp/giveout.html]].
** Darjeeling, Captain of St Glorianna, has been popular in the fanart community. Saunders' Kay has a following too.
** Surprisingly enough, Kuromorimine's [[TheDragon Erika]] [[DracoInLeatherPants has picked up a following as well]].
*** And now she got her own manga spin-off, [[http://delivery.comic-walker.com/production/delivery/KDCW_MF00000027010000_68_a008668ff8bb6dd8545500f87a1abf0f84738b00e5d0c5c8427e48561eb4765f/KDCW_MF00000027010000_68_cover.jpg ''Girls und Panzer: Phase Erika'']].
** The Katyusha/Nonna duo from Pravda has a fair amount of popularity, partly due to their unique dynamic, and partly because of the popularity of the Pravda team singing Katyusha.
** There's a small but vocal fandom for Anzio's Commander Anchovy, mainly due to her hair (drill twin tails), but also to a lesser extent because of the HiddenDepths she shows after the match (she can't stand to lose but it's because she sees winning as a commander's responsibility); they were pleased to hear of a planed OVA that will give her more screen time.
** There's a considerable amount of fanart for Alice's tank crew, notwithstanding their limited screen time. (Not so surprising, really, given their amusing reactions to Alice's rambling).
** The commander of the Jadgpanther whose tracks Anzu destroys - '''twice''' - picked quite a following in just a few days.
** Ōarai's official reporter, [[MeaningfulName Ou Taiga]][[note]]Mixed Japanese[=/=]AsianSpeekeeEngrish for [[http://www.wwiivehicles.com/germany/tanks-heavy/pzkpfw-vi-e.asp Great Tiger]][[/note]], has also her own following despite only appearing in a few seconds of episode 10 and some promotional material.
** Rosehip garnered plenty of fans for being such a HotBlooded individual in a school known for their [[ProperLady proper ladies]].
** Like Rosehip, Continuation High Team became rather popular with the movie for their OneSceneWonder on a plan that was CrazyEnoughToWork.
** Some people latched on Eclair from Maginot manga spin-off. Not only because her cute design, she also a ReasonableAuthorityFigure who worked hard to reform her school's senshado team from relying too much with [[StoneWall static defense tactic]] to a more mobile and dynamic tactics.

* RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap:
** While Maho was not necessarily an unpopular character to begin with, some viewers had a negative first impression of her, but changed their mind after her PetTheDog moments, and when ''Little Army'' reveals that [[spoiler:her greatest desire and the reason why she serves as Nishizumi heiress is for Miho to be able to live her own way]].
** The Student Council was initially viewed in a negative light for forcing Miho to take Sensha-do, but are more favorably seen after Episode 8, [[spoiler:in which it turns out that they're trying to save the school from closure]].
** The entirety of Anzio thanks to OVA 7. While many saw them as less than interesting compared to the others, the OVA made Anchovy more likable in her reaction to her defeat.
** Not exactly evident, but nonetheless ''[[TheMovie der Film]]'' gives a downplayed example in [[spoiler:Shiho. Her actions in assisting Anzu and Ami in confronting the MEXT head regarding the closure of the Ōarai School Carrier did kind of earned her a second look, confirming that while she does not agree with Miho's path of Sensha-Do, she still possibly cares for her as one of her daughters (though she guises this as a way to save [[WorthyOpponent the one school that Kuromorimine needs to beat in the near future.]])]]

* TheScrappy:
** Some fans dislike Emi from the ''Little Army'' manga, finding her to be too much of a Jerkass for her friends to deal with, and her friends admit in-universe that she can be hard to put up with at times.
** Shiho is largely disliked because of [[AbusiveParents how she treats Miho]], and her lack of any EvilIsCool factors. Though this may have died down in TheMovie, due to her surprise initiative of defending Ōarai from the closure of its school carrier; and because of...
** [[spoiler:The bespectacled head of [=MEXT=]. While he only appeared once in the original anime through a flashback (and was largely regarded as just doing his job back then), TheMovie made him an even bigger jerk by green-lighting Ōarai's (temporary) closure, forcing the girls to go into (initially) an 8-on-30 Annihilation match against a far superior team, and allowing the use of the Karl-Morser Siege Mortar - itself against existing Sensha-Do regulations for being an open-top vehicle, despite being the series' definition for a {{BFG}} - for use by the University team. Let's just say a LOT of the fans have set their sights on his backside for his actions.]]

* SuspiciouslySimilarSong: The theme march played during action sequences is not ''quite'' the theme to ''Series/HogansHeroes'', but bears a striking resemblance (although the first compasses bring to mind {{Elmer Bernstein}}'s ''Film/TheGreatEscape'' theme).
