* SugarWiki/FunnyMoments: '''THAT'S NOT ALEC!'''
** When Fred is forced to take a Taxi, the cab driver is listening to Christmas Music, including dogs barking "Jingle Bells". When Fred asks him to change the station, he gets cats meowing "Jingle Bells" instead.

* TearJerker:
** Nick's gift to Fred is a birdhouse with the note, 'I'm sorry I cut down your tree'.

* SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments: ''There's no naughty kids, Nick. They're all good kids. But some of them are scared. And some of them don't feel listened to. Some of them had some pretty tough breaks too. But every kid deserves a present on Christmas.''

** Also the entire Christmas morning sequence, with a beautiful rendition of ''Silent Night'' playing and Nick telling Fred he's the best big brother anyone could ever ask for.

* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: The message ends up being that there's no such thing as a truly bad kid. Even that budding sociopath who beat up his sister, apparently.
** That's part of Fred's point. We don't know why the boy did that to his sister. Maybe he needs meds, maybe he's acting out for some other reason, or maybe he's getting revenge for something the sister did prior. The naughty/nice list is looking at the effects without considering the cause. Denying compassion can worsen a situation. Fred may see himself in that boy. No matter how he tries to talk about what's wrong, he gets brushed off and trivialized. Which can just worsen the behavior because he knows no one actually cares about him.
* TheWoobie: Fred, YMMV on if he's bordering on JerkassWoobie. Kinda hard to dislike him when you realize that for ''most of his life'' he's had to deal with his parents constantly telling him to be more like his brother, even though he was already kindhearted - he gets told off for getting upset that his brother just gave away the present he'd clearly put a lot of work and thought into, and without so much as a thought towards the effort he put into it.

unfortunate implications need citations

* UnfortunateImplications: The movie provides the message that there are no bad kids because some of them might feel scared or misunderstood. While it's nice to look into the reasons and why to improve such behavior, the movie, however, instead delivers it in a way by showing that every kid deserves a present no matter how bad they behave, and thus implying that it's okay for kids to get away with bad behavior. Clyde is an adult and does try to fix what he screwed up, and Fred was at least able to have a talk with Sam before things got too bad, but whose to say that misbehaved kids(like the one boy who trashed his sister's room and beat her up with a bat) will interpret the fact that they still received gifts as a means to take advantage of it and continue misbehaving?
