* SnarkBait: Good luck finding somebody who has any ''positive'' things to say about 4Kids.

* UnfortunateImplications: Some people have accused 4Kids of expressing xenophobia towards Japan, considering that all of their dubs edit out everything that even remotely resembles Japanese culture.

* AuthorsSavingThrow: [=4Kids=] did release uncut [=DVDs=] of ''Anime/YuGiOh'' in late 2004/early 2005, but only got through the first nine episodes. They put these on their Website/YouTube channel, [[ScrewedByTheLawyers but had to take them down since ADK didn't renew their contract with Yugi's Japanese voice actor]]. They also had subbed ''Anime/SonicX'' episodes on their [=YouTube=] channel for some time.

* AnimationAgeGhetto: Due to 4Kids' censorship practices and some comments that effectively indicated their dead refusal to alter them (CEO Kahn, who eventually stepped down in 2011, said in a 2005 interview, "..if [anime fans] want this programming to come to the United States, then they're going to have to accept the fact that it's going to be available in two styles"), 4Kids effectively was one of the outlets enforcing the ghetto, potentially to the chagrin of Creator/{{Pixar}}, Creator/{{Disney}}, and Creator/DreamWorksAnimation. This effectively ended when the ''Yu-Gi-Oh!'' licensing agreements fell into disarray, Kahn stepped back, alternate versions of animation arose, and Disney created a second Disney Renaissance.

* BrokenBase: Over whether or not 4Kids is really ''that bad''. On one hand, some of their dubs have been well-received (to most people anyway), most notably ''Anime/{{Pokemon}}'', ''Yu-Gi-Oh'', and even ''Anime/SonicX''. On the other hand, you got 4Kids applying a lot of very gratuitous edits to their dubs, complete with [[{{Narm}} narmy]] dialog, story arcs that were either rewritten or even skipped over, and, most infamously, constant [[{{bowdlerise}} bowdlerization]].

* EnsembleDarkhorse: As far as their dubs outside of ''Anime/{{Pokemon}}'' and ''Manga/{{YuGiOh}}'' go, their dub for ''Manga/ShamanKing'' was praised for being more liberal with death than their other shows and some humorous Woolseyisms. Though, considering that the show heavily involves spirits, NeverSayDie had to be avoided. It was also their only show aside from ''Yu-Gi-Oh!'' to have uncut DVDs released. Their censorship was so loose, it even attracted ire from MoralGuardians.
