** For the episode "Pick An Ed," you can see fans on YouTube and the Wiki page commenting on how mean it was for the kids to celebrate and/or not care that Eddy went "missing"[[note]]Eddy went undercover as a new kid "Carl"[[/note]]. While the kids came off as harsh for disregarding Eddy's disappearance, fans are forgetting the fact that Eddy behaves like a jerk to not only the kids, but [[WithFriendsLikeThese to even his own friends]]. It also helps that if you're a jerk to people in general, people won't enjoy your company and will normally be pleased when you are absent for a long period of time. Some fans also think Edd was a jerk for writing the insult about Eddy's alter-ego "Carl." Although the insult made "Carl" a target of bullying, Edd only did it because Eddy was willing to start a new life as "Carl", in order to hang out with ''Kevin'' while ditching his old friends (he even agrees with Kevin about Ed and Edd being "dorks"). If Edd is guilty of ChronicBackstabbingDisorder, Eddy is just as bad at it.

** In "Tinker Ed", we're supposed to feel sorry for Jimmy because Kevin tells him that fairy tales aren't real. But maybe if Jimmy hadn't been running around the library and shrieking at the top of his lungs when Kevin was minding his own business and ''trying to study'', maybe Kevin wouldn't have messed with him in the first place. What makes it worse is that Kevin had already politely asked Sarah and Jimmy to keep it down, only for Sarah to start loudly reading the fairy tale just to irritate Kevin.

*** [[TakeAThirdOption Or]], on a specific note, is this simply caused by the fact that (unlike the Eds) the Kankers are always OutOfFocus as individuals? Lee is clearly the "ring leader" and enjoys the most out of it, Marie barely makes an effort involving herself with the stalking, and May seems to do it "out of fun" rather than actual malice. [[DivergentCharacterEvolution Although it should be noted that May didn't start out this way.]]

** The way fans react to Jimmy's disdain for the Eds can also count. While yes, Jimmy can be a BitchInSheepsClothing and usually does {{Chronic Backstabbing Disorder}}s towards them when it's usually Eddy who provokes him, fans are ignoring the fact that the Eds aren't as innocent either when it comes to their interactions with Jimmy. The Eds constantly get Jimmy injured with their scams and/or antics, they were shown to be the reason why Jimmy wears braces in the first place, and Eddy bullies Jimmy at times when the latter doesn't bother Eddy ("If It Smells Like An Ed" and "A Fistful of Ed" both to mind).
** In the episode "A Fistful Of Ed," fans tend to criticize Jimmy for beating up Edd when the former should have beaten up Eddy. While this is true, Jimmy was actually being helpful to Edd and he and Edd ''agreed'' to have a staged fight so the former can strip the latter out of his bad reputation of being a bully.

** Jimmy. Although he can be a BitchInSheepsClothing, he still is a sensitive, gentle little boy. Yet fans ignore or downplay the Eds (mainly Eddy's) unprovoked antagonistic behavior towards him and demonize him for not only the "If It Smells Like An Ed" episode, but fans make him out to be an jerkass with no redeeming qualities who hates the Eds for no reason.

While he can be a BitchInSheepsClothing, has some BitchInSheepsClothing tendencies (like most characters, at some point), he still is for the most part just a sensitive, gentle little boy. Yet fans ignore or downplay the Eds (mainly Eddy's) unprovoked antagonistic behavior towards him and still demonize him for not only mostly because of the infamous "If It Smells Like An Ed" episode, but fans make him out to be an jerkass with no redeeming qualities who hates the Eds for no reason.episode.

* ViewerGenderConfusion: Double D--it can be pretty easy for viewers to mistake him for a girl, due to a few things: 1.) His higher-pitched voiced, 2.) His hat resembling long hair and 3.) His somewhat feminine tendencies. Probably at least in part the source of the remark in the movie where Eddy's brother calls Double D his girlfriend.

** There are a few fans of the show who believed that Jimmy was a girl due to his high pitched voice and his girly interests & hobbies.

* {{Fanon}}:
** Double D is usually portrayed as blond in fan-works. When he's not blond he typically has black hair (or very long black hair, especially in teenage+ years). Eddy's hair is either black or blue. Ed's usually portrayed as a redhead, or otherwise, more rarely, with brown hair (him being redheaded is canon since in one episode, when he combed his hair, it turned out to be red). Blond!Double D and Blue!Eddy does also technically have a basis in canon, as that was the hair colors they had when the Kankers 'made them pretty' in 'Quick Shot Ed'. Granted, it ''could'' be wigs but given that Ed had his canonical red hair, it's not a stretch.
** Eddy's surname is either [=McGee=] or Verra ("Eddy [=McGee=]" is used in-universe by Ed in a couple of episodes but it can hardly be considered canon).
** Fanfic writers have been giving Edd and Kevin surnames [[TheDanza Vincent and Barr]] respectively.
** Jimmy ''is'' gay as far as fans are concerned, even though it's implied in the series that he may have a crush on Sarah, though even that [[AlternativeCharacterInterpretation is up for debate.]]
** In art or fanfiction of Eddy's Brother, he's VERY commonly depicted as being a smoker.
*** The same is generally true of older versions of Marie Kanker.
** In fanfics where the cast is older, Ed usually requires glasses.
** Older Sarah is given [[RapunzelHair longer hair]] and a...larger posterior.
** While Eddy's brother [[NoNameGiven is never named]], Matthew and Terry are common given names for him. The latter based on [[TheDanza his voice actor]] Terry Klassen, and the former based on rumors on the internet about an interview with creator Danny Antonucci ([[{{Jossed}} that never happened]] since he never talked about the subject).

* UnfortunateImplications:
** In ''A Pinch To Grow an Ed'' many of the Cul-de Sac kids are shown bullying Eddy for being short when, for once, [[DesignatedVillain he's just minding his own business and isn't even trying to scam and/or bother them]]. However [[DesignatedHero they don't get punished for bullying him]] while he gets humiliated at the end by landing in a baby stroller and being treated like a baby by his own friends, which kind've implies that [[http://www.shortsupport.org/TheMedia/cartoons/ed-blisniesky2.html the kids were right to mock Eddy for being short]] as the episode literally ends with his own friends, who were trying to help him get respect throughout the whole episode, make fun of him for his size. Granted, when he did get the shoes to become tall, he did use the shoes to abuse the other kids but considering they had been making fun of him when he had been minding his own business earlier, that excuse only goes so far.
