** Final bosses normally don't qualify for this sort of treatment, but King K. Rool's boxing match exhibits so much FakeDifficulty (even in comparison to the rest of the game) that it still needs mention. The main pillars of the fake difficulty are that there are 5 rounds, and you must beat each round to move on to the next. If you run out of time in a round, K. Rool restores all of his health, but your current Kong ''doesn't''. And if you lose all your current Kong's health, you lose the ''entire fight'' and get thrown back into the main homeworld. Most of the rounds end up being TrialAndErrorGameplay without a guide, and of course, the hardest rounds are at the end where you have the most to lose. You can easily expect to spend several hours figuring out Lanky's banana positions, Tiny's toe patterns, and Chunky's movement and punch timings, if only because you had to repeatedly endure Donkey and Diddy's rounds yet ''again'' every time you die because you didn't know the proper timings for the later rounds.

** The mechanical fish in Gloomy Galleon deserves a mention. You have to play Diddy's guitar on top of the lighthouse, get to the other section, dive underwater, and get into the submarine and then the fun begins. You have to shoot out all three of the lights (hit them three times to turn them from red to white to busted) but the propeller and respawning Zingers make this the last banana many players get (in some versions of the game, that is a '''very''' bad idea because a bug makes it pretty much impossible). And that countdown timer gives you barely enough time if you do it exactly right. It's not only much tougher than Beaver Bother, but at least with Beaver Bother you can jump right in the banana barrel again, here you have to go back to the top of the lighthouse and do that all over again.
