** And how could we possibly forget about the Donkey Kong Arcade Game (originally released in 1981) in Frantic Factory?! Good God! Where do we even begin?! Once you lose even one life (until the third part that is), you have to start all over from the beginning. As if completing this arcade game once for the golden banana wasn't bad enough, you also have to beat this game ''a second fucking time!'' That's right, folks! You need to collect the Nintendo coin by beating this game ''a second fucking time!'' Because the coin is required to beat ''the whole fucking game!'' For those who haven't beaten the game, good luck with this arcade game. We guarantee you that you're going to throw your controller across the room in frustration after so many failures. Just ask anyone who's played this game before.

** Believe it or not, the removal of the lag in the Wii U virtual console release. Because the developers knew the game was laggy, they designed the pace of minigames around it, this can make some minigames like Krazy Kong Klamour (the one where you shoot the banana and avoid the kongs), the second beetle race, and the second rabbit race in Fungi Forest nigh-on impossible to beat without abusing certain mechanics or losing so the game gets easier. Ironically, Beaver Bother itself benefited from the removal of lag because it somehow killed the ridiculous EdgeGravity to the point Gnawtys can fall in by complete accident.

* NightmareRetardant: For as horrifying as Frantic Factory's boss, Mad Jack, can be, defeating him causes him to utter out a small "Uh Oh..." while waving to the camera, before he stumbles to the ground.

* GoddamnedBats: Zingers are as bad as ever in this game. Sure they might not be as hard to kill as in the ''Country'' games (although they're still annoying to hit), but they now compensate for that by dropping grenades on your face while having the [[MostAnnoyingSound most irritating buzzing]] you'll ever hear from a videogame insect.

Dixie]].

* LoveItOrHateIt: You either love it for its expansive levels, tons of gameplay content, and memorable humor and characters, or hate it because of the seemingly endless amount of collectibles required for 100% completion.

** Final bosses normally don't qualify for this sort of treatment, but King K. Rool's boxing match exhibits so much FakeDifficulty (even in comparison to the rest of the game) that it still needs mention. The main pillars of the fake difficulty are that there are 5 rounds, and you must beat each round to move on to the next. If you run out of time in a round, K. Rool restores all of his health, but your current Kong ''doesn't''. And if you lose all your current Kong's health, you lose the ''entire fight'' and get thrown back into the main homeworld. Most of the rounds end up being TrialAndErrorGameplay without a guide, and of course, the hardest rounds are at the end where you have the most to lose. You can easily expect to spend several hours figuring out Lanky's banana positions, Tiny's toe patterns, and Chunky's movement and punch timings, if only because you had to repeatedly endure Donkey and Diddy's rounds yet ''again'' every time you die because you didn't know the proper timings for the later rounds.

** The Banana Fairy Queen. When you first meet her, she's crying because her Banana Fairies flew away.
* UnwinnableByInsanity: While it doesn't wrench the whole game, the stock 10 Minutes you get to clear Hideout Helm is flat out not enough time to take down the Blast-O-Matic. This won't come up in normal play unless you specifically go out of your way to never turn in any of Snide's blueprints, and turning them in gets you Golden Bananas, so why would you do that?
