** B.B. Hood and Lilith, for those who Lolicon like their women young. Lilith, however, is only technically evil, being tricked by Jedah into serving as his Dragon.

* FranchiseKiller: The hastily-released Japan-only arcade updates Vampire Savior 2 and Vampire Hunter 2 are widely regarded as having heavily damaged public interest in the series. On top of being slightly modified versions of Vampire Savior (and said modifications being largely disliked), the roster was split between two separate games due to hardware limitations, and the Vampire Hunter 2 title was misleading due to the original Vampire Hunter being a fairly different game gameplay-wise. Even the fact that three previously dropped characters were brought back into the mix wasn't enough to counter all the negatives, and series' remaining fans quickly abandoned these versions in favor of previous entries. Every Darkstalkers release since has been some kind of port of the existing entries in the series.

** This came to a head with Darkstalkers Resurrection, which was a bare bones port of Vampire Hunter and Vampire Savior, only really selling well on Xbox 360 and Windows, which didn't have the option of the numerous multi-version ports which were already out. The game completely failed to sell anywhere near it's projected sales.

* MainstreamObscurity: Has a cult following over the years, but is solely known for Morrigan Aensland, the sexier-than-sex succubus who has appeared in more crossover games than her own. Good luck finding someone who can name any other characters besides maybe Lilith, her moe sister or Felicia, a near-nude CatGirl. Possibly Hsien-Ko as well due to her appearance in VideoGame/MarvelVsCapcom3. They probably won't know anything about the gameplay either. The series is BestKnownForTheFanservice, and not much else.

** Demitri's a bit of an interesting case. Originally, he was the main protagonist of the series, but was later forgotten in favor of Morrigan. Nowadays, however, he seems to be picking up a bit in popularity, mostly thanks to his infamous Midnight Bliss attack. Made it into Capcom Fighting Evolution, Cross Edge (where ), and Project X Zone, where he's teamed with Dante of all people.

** Lord Raptor/Zabel Zarock: his rock star nature and hilarious, hammy yet brutal quotes and fighting style have made him very popular amongst Western fans, many who want to see him in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 as DLC. He made it into Namco × Capcom and Project X Zone as one of the villains.

** Demitri: Somewhat more popular in Japan than the West, but still notable for being one of the few truly badass vampires in the age of Literature/Twilight. Midnight Bliss helps. * SeinfeldIsUnfunny: The Darkstalkers series often comes across as "just another 90s fighting game" to those who first experience it now, likely because so many of the new things it brought to the table such as Combos chain combos, guard cancels, air blocking, ES specials, improved animation, and a cast full of something other than the same old martial arts archetypes have now been copied by so many other fighters (including its own predecessor, StreetFighter.)
This list shows the last 10 events of 180. Show all.
