* TheyJustDidntCare: The animation is seriously lacking in a lot of places. In one episode, Dan's arm becomes a detached floater while poking Chris, while in another his shirt is backwards for a good few seconds, and in another, Chris' steering wheel is on the British side of the car for most of the episode! Heck, in one, Chris makes pancakes ''on and with NOTHING''! The backgrounds are usually empty, too, like how the drive-through at Burgerphile can be so crowded, yet nobody is inside save for one cashier; and no wonder there's so much traffic where Dan is...''nobody's driving any of the cars''! [[FridgeLogic (Then one has to wonder where the honking comes from...)]]

* BaseBreaker: Elise, mostly due to her DeusExMachina role in a lot of episodes, and that Season 2 gave her a ''lot'' of focus.

** Impostor Dan's plan in [[spoiler:"The Telemarketer"]] shows he is very cunning. He manages to break out of jail [[spoiler: and both make it look like Dan's a crazy person (well, Dan is kind of crazy, but that's besides the point) hearing voices and he's the victim]] in front of the police.

Added DiffLines:

* JerkassWoobie: Dan himself. He's a jerk, obsessive, BrutallyHonest, a big fan of DisproportionateRetribution, and often misdirects his rage (such as going after the commissioner of baseball for a game preempting his favorite show). However, he's also a WeirdnessMagnet to the point of being a CosmicPlaything, which is what triggers his various adventures. If not for that, he'd otherwise keep to himself and only be mildly impolite. He even says in "The Ski Trip" that he doesn't like devoting so much time to revenge pursuits; he just can't help it because he notices the flaws and doesn't think anyone else will do anything about them. Various episodes (particularly "Summer Camp") have also suggested his upbringing was full of neglectful, possibly abusive parenting.

* DieForOurShip: What Dan/Hortense fans think of Jeremiah Burger. It doesn't help that he doesn't have much chemistry with her. This is actually Dan's in-universe plan: wait for the much older Jeremiah Burger to die so he can [[RomancingTheWidow hook up with the widowed (and now wealthy) Hortense.]]

* HilariousInHindsight: One episode has Dan trying to convince the police that Elise's parents are in the mafia. As proof, he records and splices a conversation they have about their cupcake business. He explains that "cupcake" is the new slang for "kill". In the ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'' fandom, thanks to a notoriously gory fanfic, "cupcaked" is occasionally used as slang for being gruesomely killed.

* UglyCute: Mr. Mumbles the female cat
* WhatDoYouMeanItsForKids: The Hub's programming is very much child-friendly stuff, and while some series on the channel do have quite a bit of dark material, Dan Vs. is perhaps the only one that owes its darkness to BlackComedy. This show would likely feel more at home on Adult Swim or Cartoon Network fighting with Regular Show over which "kid-friendly-but-really-not" cartoon is the best. That being said, Dan Vs. originated as a live-action adult sitcom, and was actually pitched to Adult Swim before premiering on The Hub.

** The fact that Dan and Elise were played by actors known for their voice-work on AmericanDad and HarveyBirdmanAttorneyAtLaw (both of which were TV-14-rated cartoons), respectively, doesn't help.

* UnkemptBeauty: Dan himself can be considered an exaggerated male example of this trope among the majority of his fangirls. It helps that he never CleansUpNicely.
