Added DiffLines:

* NightmareFuel: The scene in which Akira puts on the Devilman mask and sees the demon world, are rather psychedelic and ugly enough, reminding a very strong acid bad trip.

** Ryu looks incredibly cute ... and silly when he puts Devilman mask on himself and tries to convince Akira to become him.

* HoYay: OVAs uses this in a rather funny way. For example, already in the first part Akira is so happy at the sight of Ryo and immediately follows him that Miki literally begins to be jealous of Akira and even asks "is he more important for you because he is more handsome?". Moreover, after this, Ryo tries to drive her away with a knife, saying "this is not a place for women". It's fun.

* SeinfeldIsUnfunny: The 70s anime series adaptation, at least. A lot of people today will see it as incredibly cheesy, repetitive and outdated.

to:

* NarmCharm: Although the original adaptation was quite tolerable for its time, now it very quickly falls into SoBadItsGood because of the general childish immediacy and naivety of the 70s. For many there will already be enough disco in the soundtrack and more children's art style than in Dragon Ball Z, despite the fact that the original is much, much more fridgering and depressing.

And do not forget the abundance of flat jokes, very childish art style and an incredibly cheesy disco soundtrack. All this was at least medium during the show's release, but now, due to the passage of time, it looks maximum as a pseudo-dramatic show for young children.

* SpecialEffectsFailure: The movie version suffers from this.

* SpecialEffectsFailure: The movie version suffers from this. Though, considering it was made in 2004, the CGI was rather impressive for it's time.

* AnimationAgeGhetto: Unsurprising, knowing most video stores.
** The 1972 anime was aimed to kids, having lots of changes in comparison with the original manga. See LighterAndSofter for more detail.

* CrowningMusicOfAwesome: the uses of Anthem's "Show Must Go On" and "Light It Up" in the Devilman: The Birth and Demon Bird OVAs.
* EnsembleDarkhorse: Jinmen. For crying out loud, out of all the Characters in this series.. He even has a {{MUGEN}} character.
** However, he's also the first truly effective villain in the series. [[spoiler: Akira pretty much completely wrecks Silene without much collateral damage; Jinmen, on the other hand, not only kills a whole fuckload of people before Akira gets to him, but also [[ItsPersonal actually manages to get under his skin.]]]]
