* AlternateCharacterInterpretation: Is Rocky a {{Jerkass}} [[spoiler: who lead the girls on false promises and turned their backs on them only to have a sudden attack of conscience that prompts him to return]], or is he a sympathetic man (or rooster) who was put into this situation by a goal driven chicken who would stop at nothing to get what she wants, and gets treated like a Jerkass even though he technically, never lied in the first place.

* AnimationAgeGhetto: ''WesternAnimation/ChickenRun'' is a semi-mature film, but was billed as a children's film. ** According to TheOtherWiki, the producers attempted to avert this by dropping a character from the early scripts named Nobby (who was supposed to be Ginger's little brother, and thus the KidAppealCharacter) in order to avoid being excessively cute.

* AwesomeMusic: Following their triumph with the ''WesternAnimation/{{Antz}}'' score, John Powell and Harry Gregson-Williams made this score, possibly the best score to ever feature a ''kazoo''. [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oUDCbOVmSdU Main Titles]] and [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFR3Fmx2BP4&feature=related Building the Crate]] stand out.

* EnsembleDarkhorse: Babs. * GutPunch: As noted in Creator/RogerEbert's review, Edwina's death (complete with her ''bones'' on a dinner table right after), drives home the point that Mrs. Tweedy (and the film) aren't fooling around. * HilariousInHindsight : Timothy Spall became more famous a few years later playing [[HarryPotter another rat]].

* MemeticMutation: "In the quite likely case of an emergency, stick your head between your knees and kiss your bum good-bye!" ** So much so that one TV spot jokingly [[{{Bowdlerize}} bleeped out the word "bum."]]

* {{Narm}}: [[{{ItMakesSenseInContext}} "You are going to be a pie!"]] ** Additionally, [[spoiler:Ginger's]] DisneyDeath can lose its shock pretty quickly, especially when you notice that the top of her head is still slightly visible, making it glaringly obvious what really happened. ** Or you might mistake it for [[FamilyUnfriendlyDeath bits of gore sticking out]]. * MoralEventHorizon: She had been imprisoning them in her farm since day one and killing them when they can't lay any more eggs, Tweedy finally decides to cook each of them into chicken pies.

* SuperlativeDubbing: The Norwegian dub uses an amazing and hilarious cast of women giving all the chickens different dialects, with Rocky and Fowler having strong and fitting voices as well. Perhaps it's the "style" of the original dub to have the chickens speak in a calm and low manner, but the Norwegian cast seemed to give a lot more emotion to each line and they clearly had a blast dubbing it.

* MisaimedMarketing: Despite the film being about chickens trying to avoid being turned into food, Burger King restaurants in the US and Canada promoted the film by adding airplaned-shaped chicken tenders to the Kids' Club menu.
