If it is In Universe, then it is not YMMV

* TearJerker: There's a downplayed example, where Selina mentions something that Bruce sometimes seems to forget: "Harvey's sick..."
* UnfortunateImplications: InUniverse, the tabloid lies about Renee Montoya being a lesbian, which operate on the assumption that a female cop HAS to be gay, like a woman couldn't be both a cop and straight (as Montoya herself states in Women Lacking Complexity). It's also clarified that the comics reveal came with running her life into the ground and a tendency to drown her sorrows in booze and casual sex, thus implying that homosexuals are inherently screwed-up people who can't ever be happy, which is Unfortunate Implications in and of itself.

* NeverLiveItDown: In-universe, Gladys Ashton-Larraby will never let her husband, Randolph Larraby III, forget that he insisted on naming their son (who typically goes by Randy-quad) after himself and therefore "numbering" him "like a movie sequel", "rather than letting him enjoy the distinction of the illustrious Ashton legacy".

* HilariousInHindsight: In Trick or Treat, published in 2002, it's revealed that Batman's old small-time enemy Cavalier has moved to Vegas and is living with his boyfriend. In a 2006 issue of Justice League of America, Cavalier is canonically revealed to be a closeted homosexual and in a relationship with fellow small-time Batman villain Captain Stingaree.

* DieForOurShip: Chris Dee plays up the negative qualities of pretty much any love interest Batman has ever had, aside from Catwoman herself, in order to show that none of them have a chance of getting in the way of the main pairing. And some end up being given new love interests just to be absolutely sure, such as Talia falling for original character Greg Brady (a relationship that cements after she's able to work past her issues and get her life on track).

adaptation distillation is simplified adaptation, not good adaptation, character derailment is Flame Bait

* AlternateCharacterInterpretation: Yes and no. The author picks and chooses from the many and varied interpretations of various Batman characters and selects the ones she finds most interesting. Whether you agree with her is probably a large factor in whether or not you consider it AdaptationDistillation.
** Just about every character has had their personality altered in some way to make them more suitable for a RomanticComedy. How much has changed depends on what you think of as the "true canon" of the Batman universe, and the degree of derailment varies from character to character. Generally, the villains are less psychopathic, the heroes are less adamant about pursuing the villains, and there's a lot more willingness to talk through problems all around. This is not a bad thing in the context of this fanfic.
