* ComplacentGamingSyndrome / TierInducedScrappyScrappyWeapon: The Executioner pistol. This pistol is unique in that it utilizes shotgun shells, but the turn off is the pellet spread from each shot is so weak that it takes extremely close-range shooting just to be able to bring down a target. To add onto the weapon's woes, it has horrible reload speed and ammo capacity. There are attachments and the Secondary Gunfighter wildcard you can use to improve this pistol, but you're probably better off actually using a shotgun over this pistol and use the spare Pick-10 points for shotgun attachments, any gun not named Executioner, perks, and any wildcards you want.

Moved from the BO 1 page.
* EvenBetterSequel: Treyarch are generally seen as delivering the better ''Call of Duty'' campaigns, with Black Ops 1 being highlighted in particular. Because Treyarch put effort into this campaign with the choice mechanic and in the characterization of Menendez, many called the campaign one of the best for first person shooters in years.

[[spoiler:After killing Woods, he then goes to his sister's grave, and douses himself with gas, presumably to burn himself to death and join her in the afterlife. In other endings where you kill Menendez, he has a video that plays explaining that he was murdered and instructs his 2 billion or more followers to start mass rioting throughout the world. So if he burns himself to death, does that also trigger this video, which then also causes said rioting to occur?]]

** Raid, Plaza, and Meltdown (on occasion) are slowly gaining steam as well.

*** This is likely a misunderstanding in the community. Lag Compensation refers to the process of moving objects back to their position (and rotation / animation frame) at the time a bullet was fired to prevent latency from causing bullets from "passing through" objects that have changed position before said update makes it back from the server (or host) to the player. It should have no effect whatsoever like the one mentioned above. That is simply a result of lag. The confusion is likely a result of "prediction". Hit registration takes place on the server, which means for a player to do damage they must hit the Fire button, that is sent to the server which checks for a hit, and the resulting damage calculation is sent back to all players. Since nobody likes to wait 100ms (or whatever this round-trip time is) to see their weapon fire after holding the Fire button, every player sees their fire effects (muzzle flash, recoil, sound, etc.) instantly. This is called "prediction", but the server has a final say in who did damage first. This helps prevent hacking and a lot of discrepancies at the cost of frustrated players thinking they did damage before said information actually makes it to the server.

Apparently the Nuketown 2025 Easter Egg didn't make the jump to Wii U, so updating Porting Disaster again.
* PortingDisaster: Despite getting [[http://www.gonintendo.com/?mode=viewstory&id=234771 Nuketown 2025 multiplayer map]] almost two years later after other versions, the Wii U version never got all the major DLC packs and their game patches. The last game patch for Wii U was in March 2013. For context, that's a whole four months of patches - Black Ops 2 on the other platforms, just like every other ''[=CoD=]'' game before it, got all available DLC and newer patches all throughout the year until the next game came out. With ''VideoGame/CallOfDutyGhosts'' since released, it's guaranteed the Wii U version will not be getting any of the promised DLC packs and game patches despite the late arrival of the Nuketown 2025 multiplayer map.

No fridge mentions in main or YMMV pages. It's not a trope.
* FridgeBrilliance: Suffer With Me is the Black Ops 2 version of the first game's Project Nova level. Both feature the player playing as an NPC from the previous game (Viktor Reznov and Frank Woods) fighting alongside the previous protagonist as an NPC (Dmitri Petrenko and Alex Mason). Both also feature [[spoiler:betrayals brought about by the main antagonist that result in the death of the previous protagonist (although, since the previous player's fate is in the player's hands this time, Mason can be spared).]] * FridgeHorror: According to [[AllThereInTheManual intel]] in the first ''Black Ops'', Mason, Hudson and Weaver were being hunted down during Operation Charybdis. Only Mason and Hudson are seen in ''Black Ops II''. ** There's also Menendez's use of Cordis Die, managing to do with the Internet and social media what Dragovich attempted to do with numbers conditioning and Nova-6, albeit on a larger scale. [[spoiler:Should he succeed, he would have potentially whole masses raising hell at his command... all ''willingly''.]] On the other hand, the presence of an interrogation chamber ''very'' similar to the one seen in the first game suggests that Menendez may simply be doing a better job at Dragovich's methods at least when it came to soldiers. ** One of the variations of the ending has [[spoiler:Menendez escaping prison, killing Woods, and then digging up his sister's grave and lighting himself on fire over it.]] At first glance, it doesn't look to be ''quite'' as bad an ending as the one where [[spoiler:you kill him and Cordis Die revolts]]... but this is because the ending doesn't outright tell you that [[spoiler:they're going to do the same thing once ''he kills himself'', since you wouldn't do it for him.]]
