** It's kind of sad to think about, particularly if you watch his early career back now, that a guy that was so talented, and put so much of his heart and body into the business, became so burned out and disillusioned that he's quoted as having said that he had no passion left for wrestling, and indeed only found happiness by leaving the industry altogether. He probably had the sort of talent, stability ([[StraightEdge owing to his relatively cleaner lifestyle]]) and mental acumen to pour into the business for ''decades'' in some form or another, but he wants nothing more to do with wrestling.

* VillainDecay: Eventually the IWA Mid-South fans stopped trying to take swipes at him or even arguing to his face [[ActuallyPrettyFunny and started laughing at his insults]]. For WWE, see BadassDecay.

***RefugeInAudacity: Both Punk and Cena were the top two draws at the time; any repercussions would have most likely been minimal.

* BadassDecay: After turning back heel he spent the majority of the first five months largely ducking John Cena and Wrestling/{{Ryback}} (while receiving continuous "you must fight 'em [again] if you want respect" speeches from anyone who'd approach him), infamously getting his ass kicked one on one by Vince [=McMahon=] once (who '''never''' kicks anyone's ass all by himself) and needing a [[Wrestling/BradMaddox crooked fame-hungry referee]] and [[Wrestling/TheShield three justice-toting mercenaries]] to come to his aid time and again in order to retain his title. The "ducking" part at least was largely rectified at the end of the title run thanks to his feud with the Rock.
* Any semblance of Punk being viewed as a legit badass was destroyed after his fight with Mickey Gall in the UFC, where Punk threw one punch, was taken down, and quickly beaten with virtually no resistance.

** Punk being granted an automatic match into UFC without any previous fighting credentials to back him up. Many point out that Punk would be a huge draw in increasing buys (and as the match has happened, that seems to be true with more than five hundred thousand buys) but others, including actual MMA fighters themselves have pointed out how unfair it is that Punk gets to walk into a main show match with an 0-0 record as well as taking a huge amount of cash with him when his opponent would be getting a bare fraction of it. Especially when one considers Punk being so frustrated with the WWE was because part-timers walked in and took main event spots from the guys who worked their asses off to get on the card, which is pretty much exactly what he is doing with the UFC. It didn't help after Punk's match with Mickey Gall, in which he tapped out within two minutes of the first round, making the whole two year build-up over his debut look laughable.

* UnwantedAssistance: This is the problem he's been having with Raw GM John Laurinaitis. In the gauntlet match on ''Raw'' at the end of 2011 with Dolph Ziggler, Punk has Ziggler pinned, but the ref is talking with Laurinaitis, who came out and "fairly" removed Swagger and Vickie Guerrero from ringside for earlier interference, ''during'' the match. Punk goes to ward him off, only to get Zig-Zagged by Dolph for the 1-2-3, which earns him a WWE Title match the following week. In that match, Punk has Ziggler locked in the Anaconda Vice and tapping, only for the ref to miss it again because the Raw GM is "dutifully" instructing the man to replace a turnbuckle pad that came loose during the match.
** This has resulted in Laurinaitis installing himself as the special referee for the Punk-Ziggler title rematch at Royal Rumble, and the PrecisionFStrike of a warning delivered above.
** After being warned that he would be stripped of the his title if Wrestling/TheShield interfered in his match against The Rock at the Royal Rumble, he called them out on Smackdown, and told them not to get involved, saying they stood for justice, and it would be a great injustice if Punk lost the title.

** He's also getting this with regards to his UFC career. For up to two years, he still hasn't officially had a fight yet. And yet, the UFC has still deigned to put him as a playable character in their video games and even start making documentaries about the guy even though Punk right now is completely unproven, and has absolutely little to no MMA bouts or credentials to show that he's earned the right to have documentaries made about his as-of-now nonexistent MMA career. With all the attention and hype he's been getting for a currently unproven UFC career, it comes as no surprise that a lot of people are getting sick of CM Punk.

** Is Punk truly upset that the WWE Champion is taking a backseat to less-than-meaningful storylines involving John Cena and the sudden presence of [[Wrestling/DwayneJohnson the Rock]], or is it that ''[[GreenEyedMonster he's]]'' getting upstaged?
*** ''[[TakeAThirdOption Both]]'' seems to be a fair assumption.

Not sure though if the message went trough, as they simply left without saying anything.
*** It didn't. They helped again, but with the lights off for the entirety of their assault against the Rock. Punk assumed "no proof" meant he was in the clear and proceeded to take gloating advantage for the victory, but Vince came out to strip him of the belt regardless…only for a half-dead-looking Rock to ask to restart the match and then beat Punk straight up anyway.

*** The one with Orton might have been aimed at the people who root for him despite even at his least evil, still being a DesignatedHero.

*** Cena didn't help his case by not giving Punk a real retort. Instead, he [[TalkToTheFist punched Punk in the face]].
*** Cena didn't have a point. Punk's "Voice of the Voiceless" statement referred to the guys who lost their jobs unjustly because they didn't fit Vince's mold of a wrestler. Not the "WWE Universe" exactly. Also, it is not like fans are incapable of watching Punk in any other promotion.
*** Ironically, Cena ends up ''standing up for him'' when Vince suspended him and tried to cheat him out of his title match...

*** Well, his point is that Triple H is basically the same guy as Vince [=McMahon=]; no matter what Trips says, he's still stuck in the past and content with a boring product. Punk is playing a jackass revolutionary opposed to Trips' respectful traditionalist.
