* StealthPun: The Overmother calls Shay to the bridge every morning with flashing red lights, but the emergency is never real. It's a false alarm.

He apologizes to [[spoiler:his father]] for his actions once or twice but it doesn't really lessen things.

** Some fans had complaints about Act II, in which a couple puzzles are dependent on knowledge from the other character's story which your current character would have no way of knowing.

About fans or critics praising it such audiences don't think it measures up. Pre-release doesn't count.

* HypeBacklash: To a small degree. While the game has been mostly very well received, numerous reviewers have noted that it has trouble separating itself from the expectations brought on both by it's legendary Kickstarter campaign, and the fact that it was developed by adventure game master Tim Schafer. Even some reviewers who praised the game overall have said that they couldn't help but feel that there should've been more to the three million dollar game.

Internet Backdraft is now Flame Bait and being dewicked per TRS.

* InternetBackdraft: Double Fine faced considerable criticism going over budget with ''Broken Age'' despite receiving ''ten times'' their funding target (3 million) on Kickstarter. They were accused of being incompetent in handling their own expenses (It's commonly accepted that the funds were used to hire big name actors like Elijah Wood and Jack Black). And their worst sin? Proving big publishers [[JerkassHasAPoint kinda had a point]] when refusing to fund their projects. Matters were made worse when Tim and Double Fine split the game so they could use sales from act one to complete act two which was then released as a free update once completed over a year later.

* FridgeHorror:
** Shay's parents can come across as somewhat emotionally abusive considering [[spoiler: Shay spent much of his life believing they were computers instead of people, or at least was convinced of such long enough to freak out when he sees his dad come out of the sand and, depending on what question he asks, ask if he's a robot]].
** In Act 1, when Shay tries to approach the Fusion Orb on his ship, he is warned about strong Omicron radiation and automatically given appropriate protection (and making sure it's complete is part of the puzzle). In Act 2, [[spoiler:Vella approaches the same Fusion Orb in the same area, and even takes it with her [[ItMakesSenseInContext in a bowl of ice cream]], with no protection whatsoever nor even knowledge of the radiation in the area]]. The issue is obvious, but there are no catastrophic consequences in the future because [[spoiler:Omicron radiation is actually harmless. It was a lie cooked up to keep a younger Shay from playing with the Fusion Orb and removing it from it's cooling stand, which was necessary because the danger of it exploding when not cooled is a very real threat that Vella weaponizes late in Act 2]].
