*** Minor example given it's a much newer entry, but in discussing ''Film/TheLastJedi'' they refer to Praetorian Guards as "The Knights of Ren," with the former being Snoke's guard meant to look like the Emporer's, while the latter are an order presumably of Dark Side users who have not yet appeared.

* MagnificentBastard: Ted could come off as one in Ib part 5. After the guys decide the rules for a voting contest regarding ''VideoGame/IWannaBeTheGuy''... Ted UPPED the ante and stakes of the contest by declaring that the loser play ''VideoGame/KaizoMarioWorld''

* BrokenBase:
** The ''VideoGame/Pikmin2'' commentary is already easily one of the most divisive commentaries the channel has done, outdoing even much of the ''Sonic the Hedgehog'' games' commentaries in merely below 10 parts. Nearly everything is divisive due to it being unexpectedly negative and very angering to Ted, who played the game for the channel despite disliking the game.
*** Split 1: The most divisive split, by far, is on Ted's negativity throughout the playthrough. Some feel as if Ted is being petty and whiny about the game for basically any diversion from ''Pikmin 1'' or ''3'', while others don't think he's very unjustified in how ranty he is. It gets worse when he brings this up.
*** Split 2: Ted makes a fair few mistakes during various portions of the game, most notably skipping the sprays by accident[[note]]He thought that he could get them from eggs to not stall the playthrough by berry farming, but eggs won't drop anything but nectar until the sprays have been unlocked, and he didn't realize this until way later[[/note]], and even he [[OldShame regrets not getting the ultra-bitter spray since it would have made certain fights much easier]]. This causes a few to believe that Ted's anger at the game is dubious or the result of being bad, and that is all that will be said, while others don't think he would do that or don't see anything particularly wrong with how he plays.
*** Split 3: Some feel as if the commentary being almost solely Ted is poor due to having nobody else to play off of, with Ryan having nearly no interest in it at all and both John and Lewis having no experience in the Pikmin series at all. They think a guest who enjoyed the game would have been good so that there could be a balance between both opinions, while others don't care or think that the cast didn't need a guest at all, or the most reliable candidate (WebVideo/{{Chuggaaconroy}}) wouldn't be available enough. Lewis has actually made a statement about this: they didn't do so because according to him, it would be dishonest, condescending, and balancing tone ultimately doesn't matter.[[note]]Source: a comment on Part 6.[[/note]]

* RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap:
** Amanda has gotten many more defenders in her recent appearances, partly from belief that she's getting better, and partly from belief that her haters (some of whom abandon commentaries the second they hear her voice) have gone too far. Expanded from her own Youtube videos, Tumblr posts and Youtube comments on [=BrainScratchComm=] parts where she not only expresses acknowledgement of her flaws, but at this time, has been working on improving them with relative success. The Sailor Moon R let's play has also helped show she's more comfortable on topics she's knowledgeable about, bringing up trivia to the guys about the characters and anime. The comments there were notably much more positive.
** Lewis was controversial in earlier videos, as he was constantly questioning logic in video games that throw logic out the window, but toning this trait down to more snarky levels, along with his frequent absences, have garnered more positive reception.
** Ted is admittedly not as controversial as he was in earlier videos, as he has become less vocal about his negative bias (especially with Gen 4, which once provoked him into "apeshit rants" at every opportunity), and less rude to people who don't agree with him.

* TheScrappy:
** Ryan became this to some on during the ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBros Brawl'' commentary and the E3 2013 discussion video, due to his opinions of Nintendo and its franchises.
** Lewis has gotten heat for constantly questioning oddities in video games that don't try to be realistic in the first place, spawning the phrase "It's a video game!" He also became this to some anime fans when he said "I like Manga/{{Naruto}} more than Anime/DragonBallZ" in ''Final Fantasy 6''.
---> '''Ryan:''' Can I punch you over the internet?!
** Ted was, at one point, well on his way to becoming the most divisive member of the crew. Examples include his voice being grating to some (it's probably his accent), coming off as egotistical (both in his [[FanHater intolerance for people liking games against his bias]] and his HolierThanThou attitude toward anyone with [[CantTakeCriticism the slightest issue toward him]]), his tendency to [[AccentuateTheNegative overstate]] his issues with games that he has distaste for, and to some, coming off as preachy and stubborn. It's worth noting, however, due to this backlash, he's stated he's trying to become better about this sort of thing. Despite efforts, he still comes off as stubborn on social channels and in the ''Pikmin 2'' commentary, and thus remains the most divisive member.
** Alexander (Spax 3) is regarded as one of the most annoying commentators. He tends to yell loudly in general, especially when trying to crack jokes, and he has a bad tendency to talk over the other guys when he's trying to get something across. Some people believe that the guys (Lewis, Johnny, and Ryan at the time) were equally annoyed with him, as he hasn't shown back up to guest commentate since 2009.
** Amanda gets this treatment the most. It's a rather [[BaseBreaker love or hate]] thing she's got going. It's gotten to the point that the crew Lampshaded her presence will piss people off.
** Some people have showed hatred towards Ryan's friend Andrew, some making fun of his speech impediment.
*** It is worth noting that some of Andrew and Amanda's haters do come up with legitimate reasons to not like them. Examples include Andrew's speech impediment being hard to understand coupled with him trying to be very vocal, and Amanda with her rather loud, high-pitched laughter. This does not excuse (and unfortunately seems to be outnumbered by) those who openly mock or insult the two, although Amanda seems to be getting better treatment as of late.

** During recording of the second part of the ''VideoGame/SonicMania'' commentary, Lewis had doubts that the PC version's delay was for improving the DRM on the game. At the same time the part went live, controversy was already breaking out about the PC version having the Denuvo DRM.

* GrowingTheBeard: Amanda's commentary in their playthrough of Sailor Moon R was seen as a significant improvement. She's largely quieter than she used to be, her chipper personality is a nice contrast to the guys' deadpan remarks, and her enthusiasm for things she's a fangirl of give her a GenkiGirl appeal. While she still has some quirks to iron out, her reception is much better with several comments expressing a desire to see her more often.

** Many jokes about Ryan being quiet in some commentaries became a lot less funny after he revealed it was because of his Depression.

** Averted with most of their RPG playthroughs nowadays. The commentaries for ''VideoGame/PaperMarioTheThousandYearDoor'' and ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyIX'' were released in blocks and went back-and-forth in order to keep either game from dominating the channel. Lewis's ''VideoGame/Persona5'' playthrough was designated as a weekend upload so as not to break the pace of the regular commentary schedule.
