* WhatAnIdiot: Lawson makes a couple of remarkably stupid decisions:
** After the ice cream truck shooting, he could have telephoned the police from the phone box right next to his car. Instead, he goes chasing off after a car full of armed killers.
** Having chased the car full of killers until after sunset, he finally confronts them and manages to kill one. Instead of driving off in his car (which is not shown to have been damaged), he runs away.
** For their part, three of the car full of armed killers run away run away from Lawson instead of gunning him down. Perhaps they could have worked out a plan in all the time they spent driving around?

Added DiffLines:

* DawsonCasting: Reference is made to "the juvenile gang problem", and Street Thunder is further referred to as a "youth gang", yet all its members appear to be in their 20s at least.

* CompleteMonster: The "Street Thunder" members, one of whom ''[[KickTheDog shoots and kills a little girl point blank]] just because she was there''. They're depicted as being more psychopathic than ordinary street gangs, with bizarre honor codes and a willingness to shoot up random passerby just to see if their weapons work. Even a gang member who spent a night in a cell with one thinks they're way too hardcore.

** The French movie ''TheNest'' can be seen as tribute to this movie.
