* {{Wangst}}: In the first book, Stile ''constantly'' bemoans his short stature and how it makes it so hard for him to attract women... while juggling three different potential love interests. He also repeatedly kvetches about how Sheen and Neysa are not real women, even though this does not stop him from having carrying on sexual relationships with them.

Added DiffLines:

* FridgeBrilliance: Natives of Phaze seem really impressed by the potency of the "splash" from Stile's Triple Thee to Lady Blue, and Mach's to Fleta. Even compared to other Adepts' proclamations of love and/or truth, it's powerful. But considering that "thee", repeated, is doubly RhymingWithItself, it'd be weird if the MagicMusic-Adepts ''didn't'' get a more powerful effect than anyone else.

** Also, the cover art for ''Blue Adept'' depicts Red as looking strikingly like Nicole Kidman; a plot point in the book involves her and TheHero Stile participating in a theatrical Tourney performance (in this case, a dance) involving StarCrossedLovers in an exotic setting (Arabia). Flash forward to...''Film/MoulinRouge'', where Nicole Kidman's Satine stars with TheHero Christian in a theatrical performance (a musical this time) involving StarCrossedLovers in an exotic setting (India). For added irony, Red was a man-hater while Satine was a courtesan.

* IdiotPlot: The second trilogy only works because ''everyone'' abides by HonorBeforeReason and plays by the rules. The Contrary Citizens and Adverse Adepts are completely overmatched, due to the Book of Magic and Oracle Computer, but the good guys agree to let the fate of the world be settled by games and competitions anyway, instead of simply dictating terms of surrender to their enemies.
