* BlindIdiotTranslation: The official English release is teeming with errors; wrong pronouns for characters, awkward dialogue/narration, sentences/words that seem transliterated and misspelled menu options. Some fans were turned off by the subpar translation, giving up on the game entirely

* ContestedSequel: Many fans of ''VisualNovel/AkaiIto'' were very disappointed with Aoishiro, mostly for downplaying the horror, and not liking the characters. On the hand, plenty of people who played Akai Ito, loved Aoishiro, mostly for it's gorgeous visuals, great light-romance story, and the fact that Syouko, unlike Kei, was fairly competent and could actually hold her own without relying on her friends so much.

* {{Anvilicious}}: There are entire conversations with dozens of lines of dialogue that stress how okay it is to eat meat and how there is no reason for anyone, including a Buddhist monk, to be a vegetarian or vegan.

* SugarWiki/FunnyMoments: Migiwa's route: Migiwa taking advantage of Syouko's numb legs to [[spoiler:kiss her in front of her friends as thanks for the previous night's CPR]] (if you had chosen to help her), following up with several suggestive-sounding references to the event. Yasumi's reactions--to each sentence and during the following breakfast--are ''hilarious''.

* SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome: Kaya's good end has two back-to-back moments of awesome: [[spoiler:During her final fight with Munetsugu, when it seems like he's getting the upper hand, she fakes her usual attack, switches hands, and knocks him out with her scabbard]]. The second comes moments later when [[spoiler:Munetsugu--who had been left unconscious in the underground sanctuary--appears out of nowhere to slice Ba Rouryuu into pieces, asks Syouko to take care of his daughter, smiles, and [[HeroicSacrifice sacrifices himself to close the Gate]]]]. Talk about a show stealer...
** Heck, all the characters have one. Pretty much anytime [[SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic Michiyuku Shi wo Koe]] starts playing (like in the above) you know awesome is about to occur.
** The Grand Route is essentially just a series of crowning moments for pretty much every character. Even the ''monk'' (though his awesomeness is only briefly related after the fact).
* TearJerker - Although most of the endings ''are'' downers, [[spoiler:Yasumi]]'s "Sleeping Beauty" ([[spoiler:Migiwa destroys Yasumi's spirit, leaving Syouko crying over Yasumi's soulless, seemingly-sleeping body.]]) and "The Gap in the Shape of You in My Heart" ([[spoiler:Yasumi erases herself from Syouko's memory as her last act as a human; Syouko washes up on the beach, reaches for someone's hand that ought to be there, and starts screaming because of the pain in her heart.]]) normal endings are are the worst.

* GoddamnBats: Those pesky water oni, weak enough to be defeated by a faintly-powered wooden sword but strong in numbers and very dangerous if they can get a hold of you. A few bad ends involve one pulling you into the water while you're crossing the stepping stones, for a cheap kill. In quite a few more, they just swarm you and rip you to shreds.

Missed Moment Of Awesome is not \"they SHOULD have done it, it\'d be cool.\" It\'s \"they DID do it, and you never got to see it.\"

* MissedMomentOfAwesome: The fight between [[spoiler:Kaya and Munetsugu]], though to be fair [[spoiler:it was probably a repeat of their awesome fight in Kaya's good end]].
