* VerbalTic: Gary and Joel frickin say frickin in almost every frickin sentence.
** It even shows in their writing. Anti-violence posters they made in 3rd episode are filled with word "frickin" and other swearing.

* WildTeenParty: Unlike most examples, Gary and Joel face next to no consequences, mainly because they had the party at home, and have no parental figures..

* SkunkStripe: Principal Stark. Mocked by kids apparently calling her "The Skunk".

* EverythingsBetterWithMonkeys: Dirt's got a Capuchin monkey at his apartment.

* RealityEnsues: Jake Justice, the landscaper [[spoiler: eventually develops skin cancer, from all his time in the sun, and not wearing sunscreen.]]

''Unsupervised'' was created by David Hornsby, Scott Marder & Rob Rosell, known for their work on ''Series/ItsAlwaysSunnyInPhiladelphia''. It is animated by Floyd County Productions, the same studio that creates ''WesternAnimation/{{Archer}}''.

Unlike ''Archer'' however, the show never found much success, receiving average-to-negative reviews and suffering from extremely low ratings. It was axed after its first season and can now be seen in reruns on Creator/AdultSwim, with a TV-MA rating for very strong offensive language (L)[[note]]the word "shit" and use of "Jesus Christ!" and "Goddamn" as oaths can be heard sans censorial bleeping or muting -- a far cry from the early days of Creator/AdultSwim, when "shit" and "Goddamn" would be dubbed out of ''Anime/CowboyBebop'' and viewers threw a fit when they heard that Don Hertzfeldt's ''Rejected'' was going to be banned because one of the vignettes had a character saying, "Sweet Jesus!" and when ''Futurama'' had two episodes edited to remove the Professor saying "Holy Zombie Jesus!"[[/note]], explicit sexual content (S)[[note]]mostly barely-censored nudity and very crude sexual references, though a brief scene of a naked Viking warrior having anal sex with a wench was seen on the episode "Stupid Idiots" and there is talk of gay sex and child molestation[[/note]], and bloody violence (V). However, this has been phased out due to Creator/AdultSwim airing the final season of ''WesternAnimation/AquaTeenHungerForce''.

* AllPeriodsArePMS: Usually mild-mannered Megan suddenly gone berserk when new girl stole her period medicine in attempt to get high.

* BestialityIsDepraved: Sid told the boys a story about him living with kangaroo pack. It was supposed to teach them that they won't be happy [[BeYourself pretending to be something they're not]], but they only noticed that he had sex with a kangaroo lady.

* LoserProtagonist: Gary, Joel, Megan and Russ. Gary and Joel are lighter examples as neither seem to particularly care and they appear to be at least moderately liked by the town.

* MyBelovedSmother: Darius' relationship with his mother is like this. She even hires a babysitter to watch over him and brush his teeth.

* RaginStifie: Gary gets one whenever he dances because, as he puts it, "it's the rawest expression of human emotion".

* SmallNameBugEgo: Megan tries to present herself as a bright, morally upstanding future world leader, but is actually smug, prudish, judgmental and only marginally smarter than Gary and Joel are. This is perhaps best shown when they get put into assigned reading groups and Megan protest, but only because she was put into the remedial one.

* ParentalNeglect: The main driving force behind the entire show. Gary's stepmother is ether out of town with her boyfriend, or heartbroken and sitting in the dark smoking pot. What exactly going on in Joel's family is yet to be seen.
