** Edgar Jomfru fits this to a T. He is seemingly killed off-screen in his debut episode, only to later make appearances during the Revengeancers sub-plot. He then goes on to have a lengthy song about his backstory and motivations in [[TheMovie ''Deathstar Requiem'']].

** There are a number of other horrible things about that don't seem to be the work of either Dethklok or the Tribunal. One episode features an apparently mainstream game show where the price for losing is being murdered, for instance.

** Also the bit in Prankklok [[spoiler:where Nathan and Pickles fight before Nathan destroys the liquid master]] is gorgeously animated and coloured, right before going back to the same quality used throughout the rest of the series.

* StraightEdge: The "SOBERTOWN USA No Drugs Allowed Sober Rock and Roll Show" has shades of this.
** StraightEdgeEvil: Rikki Kixx's entire motivation for promoting the movement is that he no longer able to indulge in alcohol and drugs himself, and if he can't have it, no one should be able to.

* AluminumChristmasTrees: Pickles' plan to use bleach to pass a drug test in the episode "Dethhealth" and the gang's general acceptance of the idea was just an example of their idiocy, right? Nope. You actually can put bleach in a urine sample to kill traces of many drugs, but you'll end up failing it anyway because doctors and lab technicians can tell if someone has put bleach in it, and it goes without saying that DRINKING IT (like Pickles originally suggested) will kill you.

The series aired fifteen-minute episodes over the first two seasons (with the exception of two special half-hour episodes in Season Two), switched to a full half-hour format for Season Three, and returned to the fifteen-minute format for Season Four. A one-hour movie special, ''[[WesternAnimation/MetalocalypseTheDoomstarRequiem The Doomstar Requiem -- A Klok Opera]]'', aired in October 2013 and picked up the ''Metalocalypse'' storyline directly from the Season Four finale. While Brendon Small once said he once intended to make four seasons and a movie, ''Doomstar's'' ending sets up a fifth season; unfortunately, [[http://www.metalinjection.net/latest-news/bummer-alert/metalocalypse-creator-says-he-wanted-to-do-a-new-season-but-adult-swim-passed-on-it Adult Swim passed on it.]] Small is still trying to get the series finished the way he wants, but it may not be in the way the fans expect.
