'''Gill''': No, kid, ''I'm'' the one who should be sorry. I was so ready to get out, so ready to taste that ocean, I was willing to put you through harm's way to get there. Nothing should be worth that. I'm sorry I couldn't get you back to your father, kid.

* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Gill. He initially comes across as cold towards Nemo when he tells him he has to get himself out of the filter tube when he initially gets stuck in it, and selfishly risks Nemo's life for his own means---not even doing it to get Nemo out---and almost killing him, but he's also a PapaWolf to Nemo and comes across as more like the father figure Nemo needed.
* KarmaHoudini: The barracuda.

dark.

* {{Flanderization}}: During the course of the movie, Bubbles goes from being another fish with an eccentric personality trait like the rest of the Tank Gang, to pretty much being reduced to a fish who can do nothing other than babble about bubbles - even when Peach is the last to cross the street into the harbor, all he does is mumble about bubbles.

** The dentist gets away scot-free with kidnapping Nemo.
** Darla, as far as we know, isn't punished for killing fish by shaking their bags. If she is, we never hear about it.

* OminousLatinChanting: Not in Latin, and (except possibly to the very youngest viewers) not all that ominous. Arguably a parody.

* DarkerAndEdgier: Somewhat, Pixar's first four films had some more emotional moments but on the whole they were very lighthearted and comedic. ''Finding Nemo'' was arguably Pixar's first foray into more dramatic territory, as in films that have comedic elements but on the whole aren't comedies. Coincidentally enough, the teaser trailer for ''Joy's Adventures of Finding Alvin'', which shows that the movie will revolve around Surly getting into a serious injury in a much, much grittier tone than Pixar's usual output.
