Broken Aesop is YMMV now.

* BrokenAesop: A source of conflict in the movie is that Ro and Antonio fall in love and want to marry but can't because Ro isn't of royal blood. Eventually they just say, "screw it," and decide to marry anyway, giving the moral that it doesn't matter if two people are from differing social classes, they should be allowed to be together if they're in love. However, at the very end, it's revealed that Ro is the long-lost Princess Rosella of Paladia, meaning that she ''was'' royalty all along, which kind of cancels out the intended aesop.

* KarmaHoudini: The guard who was bribed by Queen Arianna into knocking Ro and her animals into the sea to drown them is apparently never punished for his crimes.

* MalMariee: An interesting variant. After her family lost their noble titles and lands and were reduced to pig farmers, Ariana ran away from home, invented a new identity for herself, found the oldest king she could, and schemed to get herself married to him in the hopes that he will soon die off and leave his kingdom in her hands. Her plan worked like a charm: her husband succumbed to his heart condition just days after they were married, with Ariana noting, "Happily that put an end to us."

* MisplacedRetribution: Queen Ariana intends to kill Peter's entire family and take over his kingdom because she blames him for reducing her family to pig farmers, completely ignoring how Ariana's family brought it upon themselves for attempting to ''kill'' both Peter and his wife Danielle (Ariana brushes it off as, "A little treason, not a lot"). More importantly, since this happened when Ariana was ''really'' young--in her own words, "a tiny tot"--it's strongly implied that Peter and Danielle were only small children at the time as well, meaning it was likely Peter's parents or a regent who handed out the sentence, which is corroborated by how Peter doesn't seem to remember Ariana at all. Lastly, Peter and Danielle's children weren't even born at the time, so they definitely can't be blamed for what happened to Ariana's family.

Lastly, Peter and Danielle's children weren't even born at the time, so they definitely can't be blamed for what happened to Ariana's family.

* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Though Danielle and Peter initially disapprove of Ro and are clearly unhappy about her and her animals interrupting Luciana and Antonio's wedding, once they see that Ro was telling the truth that she can cure the kingom's animals' ForcedSleep when Talulah awakens, Danielle and Peter give Ro a chance to explain her claim that the animals didn't succumb to a disease and had in fact been poisoned. After Ariana is proven to be the culprit, they thank Ro, apologize for assuming the worst of her, and agree to let her and Antonio marry, even before Ro's ReallyRoyaltyReveal.

* RevengeBeforeReason: Ariana spent years scheming to kill Peter's family and take over his kingdom, all because she blames him for ruining her life by seizing her family's lands and forcing them to become pig farmers. Even though this was because Ariana's family had tried to ''assassinate'' Peter and Danielle, she simply brushes it off as "A little treason, not a lot." Not only that, but it's heavily implied that this happened when Peter and Danielle were only young children since Ariana herself was only "a tiny tot" at the time, hence why Peter doesn't even remember Ariana in the present. That also strongly indicates that neither Peter nor Danielle gave much (if any) input when the sentence was given.

* SuspiciouslyPrescientPlanning: Ro learns from some nearby birds that Queen Ariana [[TamperingWithFoodAndDrink put something in the wedding cake]] and recognizes it as sunset herb, a drug that induces ForcedSleep. When Ariana later denies her crime, Ro challenges her to have some cake herself to prove her innocence. Ariana then suggests that Ro might've poisoned the cake to frame her, only for Luciana to speak up and tell the crowd that her mother had earlier inexplicably told her not to eat anything on her wedding day. Realizing she can't talk her way out of this one, Queen Ariana [[ScrewThisImOuttaHere makes a run for it]].

* MemoryRestoringMelody: Ro is a human girl that was raised by island animals since she was a child, who found her among debris from an unknown incident. She's lost all of her memories except for a vision of a storm at sea and a song that she knows only some of the lyrics to. [[spoiler: It's revealed at the end of the film that the storm Ro remembered was the day she fell off of a ship and drifted out to sea, only to be found by the island animals. The song was a lullaby that was sung to her by her mother, who happens to be the queen of a distant island. This discovery leads to Ro reuniting with her parents and reclaiming her title as princess, as well as finding out that her full name is Rosella.]]
