* In ''{{Monsterpocalypse}}'', the Radical factions are said to be this. The Empire of the Apes wants to bring harmony back into nature by leveling human cities, but they also protect primitive villages. Subverted with the Terrasaurs: their human supporters believe the Terrasaurs are GaiasVengeance, but they just find human factories and industrial wastes tasty and are really just looking for a snack.

* The Circle of Orboros in ''IronKingdoms'' are very similar to the Ashbound and Children of Winter mentioned above; they are a druidic sect who believe that civilisation is an inherently unnatural phenomenon that must be crushed, and harness natural disasters of all kinds to try and destroy cities and force humans back to nature. They do this because they believe that not only does civilisation interfere with the fundamental powers of nature, if this interference grows too great, the [[GodOfEvil Devourer]] [[NatureSpirit Wurm]] will return to the mortal world and destroy all humans in order to restore the flow of his powers.

* The Lizard Men faction of TabletopGame/{{Warhammer}}'s goals are sympathetic (purging Chaos/Skaven, trying to follow the plans of the Old Ones), but their methods are ruthless.

to:

** Not everyone falls to Chaos with the goal of becoming a daemon prince- the Chaos gods embody rage, desire, hope and love, and many Chaos cults start out as organizations to reform the worse aspects of the Imperium, and start down a slippery slope as they start gaining power to further their plans.
* The Lizard Men faction of TabletopGame/{{Warhammer}}'s goals are sympathetic (purging Chaos/Skaven, trying to follow the plans of the Old Ones), but their methods are ruthless. They once thought the continents needed to be rearranged the way they were when the Old Ones were still around, never mind the dwarf empire that was a bulwark against the myriad evil forces living in those mountains. [[spoiler:And with the ''TabletopGame/AgeOfSigmar'' rolling in, it was AllForNothing.]]

** Most of the [[ForTheEvilz Chaos Space Marines]] started out this way before the [[JumpingOffTheSlipperySlope Istvaan Drop Site Massacres]]. Some still are. Special mention goes to the Alpha Legion, who only sided with Horus because they foresaw that it would ultimately lead to the best possible outcome for the galaxy if Horus actually won. They may still believe in that "best possible" future, but they'll have to burn the Imperium to the ground for it to happen.

** The Tau of regularly employ mass murder and orbital bombardment when a species denies multiple "offers" to join them. The "well intentioned" part is what sets them apart from everyone else - factions such as the Imperium will blow up their own planets and murder billions in the name of mere survival.
** Also in the setting are radical Inquisitors who decide that the best way to defeat the forces of Chaos is to turn [[TheCorruption Chaos]] against itself. If they're lucky, their colleagues will execute them for heresy; if they're unlucky, they are lost to TheDarkSide. If Inquisitors are lost to TheDarkSide, many of them still try to serve the Imperium, no matter how many innocent lives are lost in their schemes.

* The Berlin, Caracas and New Delhi [[AIIsACrapshoot Zoneminds]] in ''TabletopGame/GURPSReignOfSteel''. Berlin and Caracas both want to protect and to the degree that it is possible restore Earth's ecosystem, but view humans as an impediment to that, with Berlin as the more extreme (it has developed an obsession with humans as a threat to Earth's ecology, and consequently really wants humanity exterminated), and Caracas as more balanced (it wants humans to be reduced to a stone age hunter-gatherer level, but doesn't place any special priority on it). New Delhi, uniquely amongst the Zoneminds, actually wants to ''help'' humanity -- the only issue is that New Delhi's idea of help is to uplift humanity into a transhuman state, it's still experimenting to find the best methods, and it's not so hot on the concept of consent.

** The Silver Ladder in general is plagued with these people, on the basis that they idolize the {{Ubermensch}} to begin with, and view [[DyingLikeAnimals pointless self-limiting belief systems]] as more harmful in the long term than raw [[AmbitionIsEvil ambition]]. When you think like that, it isn't hard ''at all'' to fall into the trap of UtopiaJustifiesTheMeans. As a favorite saying of theirs goes, "[[JustThinkOfThePotential hubris is a coward's word]]". The only problem is that arrogance-- well-meaning or otherwise-- in ''Mage'' usually ends very very badly for the mage and anyone nearby.
