* ScrewTheRulesImDoingWhatsRight: Part of how [[SecretPolice Tallis]] got demoted to being an Athlok; after several missions gone wrong, she was tasked with recovering a valuable artifact from an art collector and bring it to the Qunari, and leave without letting anyone know she was there. When she got there however, she found he collected many things - [[WouldHurtAChild including]] [[SexSlave little girls]]. She freed the girls and completed her mission, [[KarmicDeath and nobody ever found all of the art collector's body parts]], but it was still a high-profile death and she was not supposed to leave any trace of her presence. As a result, the Qunari lowered her in rank.

** He ''was'' First to a Keeper that got nabbed by the Templars, so it's not like he had a particularly ''brilliant'' mentor, anyway.
** Which is even more impressive that we know that the Dalish can and will sacrifice themselves so they can ensure their Keeper survives. All in all, either they didn't like their Keeper or this seems to be the worst Dalish clan imaginable. The clan being devastated by a raid because the sentinels all got themselves killed before giving a warning also bears this out.

*** Considering she was raised in human society and was trained by the Qunari as an assassin and infiltrator, it's still very unlikely she wouldn't know something as basic about the main human religion as the difference between the Maker and Andraste.

** As the ''Franchise/DragonAge'' series likes to lampshade, since the Templars train to become capable of performing Anti-Magic, how does this really make them all that ''different'' from the Mages themselves? Granted against regular people they're just "metal guys in suits", but still, how is using semi-magical abilities as a tactical advantage against their opponents, not essentially the same thing?

** At one point Cairn uses Saarebas' phylactery to prevent him from using magic. Dragon Age phylacteries are unable to do anything of the sort; Templars merely use them to track the mage who's blood is in it. Templars themselves have AntiMagic abilities unrelated to phylacteries.

** There's also the fact that as far as the Qunari know, the Saarebas was taken by the Chantry, who would undoubtedly be trying to analyze him for potential Qunari weaknesses - which the Qunari very much do not want. Leaving behind a corpse would still be leaving behind a cadaver for the Chantry's analysis were it ever found. [[spoiler: Not that it stops Tallis from killing him, but hey.]]

** They do launch into the final battle about two minutes later. There wasn't really time for a scolding.

** Actually, not so much, more like a lesson learned. Tallis clearly views attempting to save Feena as a mistake.
** It is likely that that incident taught her not to veer off from her mission then.

*** Cairn, being a Templar, often veers into this. Someone like Josmael, born with the gift of magic is ''clearly'' an abomination in the eyes of the Maker... but Reavers such as Nyree, who became what they are ''by ritually drinking dragon's blood'', he won't even bother to bat an eye at. What?
*** This might have to do with the warped priorities of the chantry more than anything else (reavers have magical abilities but aren't technically mages).
