[[WMG: Michael Emerson will be playing Cayden James]]
I'm hardly the first person to have this theory. We know that Michael Emerson will play a mystery villain in season 6, but we don't know who yet. A common guess is that it's Cayden James. While I think most people did not expect Mr. James to be a 63 year-old man given the relative younger age of other Helix members, it seems to make sense.

[[WMG: Vigilante is Paul Holt, Curtis' [[spoiler: ex-]]husband]]

* Essentially, we saw Sobel supposedly die when Sonus shot him in the head. NoOneCouldSurviveThat, right? Except, this was right when the S.T.A.R. Labs particle accelerator explosion went off in Central City. He may have become a metahuman just as he was being shot in the head, and whatever powers it granted him may have allowed him to survive, which would mean that, yes, Vigilante is a metahuman. Again, this all ties back to Stephen Amell's comment in early September 2017 that Vigilante has ties to a member of Team Arrow.

Arrow. I feel like this would tie in well with Vigilante's worldview of life, with this JudgeJuryAndExecutioner being a former cop who effectively stared death right in the face, which just utterly ''broke'' the man entirely. Also keep in mind that in Dinah's first appearance she too was a cop who had been completely broken and decided to take the law into her own hands, so it would be quite fitting. [[note]]Another fun fact, if this theory somehow turns out to be right, it's worth noting that Vigilante initially debuted on Arrow a number of episodes ''before'' Dinah, Vincent, or Sonus.[[/note]]

\n** Alternatively, Vigilante ''is'' indeed someone who's met Oliver before in his civilian personality, but now has amnesia, is being brainwashed, or has a JekyllAndHyde personality, which explains why he appears to not personally know Oliver when getting ready to assassinate him.

* This is a theory that's been floating around for quite awhile now. In early September 2017 Stephen Amell specifically said that Vigilante is someone who has ties to a member of Team Arrow.

Finally, we don't see Samantha anywhere in the previews other than that one scene as the bombs go off. While at this point, based on previews and other things, I suspect the vast majority of people on the island survived, I strongly suspect that [[MauveShirt Samantha]] died.

[[WMG: Samantha Clayton died in the explosions on Lian Yu.]]
The previews have been mentioning that Oliver will have to take up the role of fatherhood in season 6...this, combined with the Comic-Con trailer [[OnceMoreWithClarity whereby we see Samantha running off as the bombs detonate]], followed by this exchange between a suit[[note]]as in, for a funeral[[/note]]-wearing Oliver talking to a distraught William:
-->'''Oliver:''' It was just a dream.
-->'''William:''' It's real...it's what happened.

[[WMG: All of the current Team Arrow ARE really dead, and Oliver will now build up a new Team Arrowthat matches more with the comics.]]
* Oliver continues go as Green Arrow, but decides to retire from being Mayor out of grief while appointing a new successor and to take care of William, but eventually decodes to take back his company. While doing so, he meets up with Naomi Singh, Henry Fryff, and Jax Jackson, all workers in his company who he recruits like in the New 52. He takes back his company, and also starts to train William so he becomes the Arrow equivalent to Connor Hawke (How this conflicts with "Star City 2046" can be explained later), while Roy comes back in order to honor Thea, and goes back to being Arsenal. Also, maybe ressurect Laurel, but more on that as Season 6 goes on.

The ending of "Sins of the Father" seems to imply this (but once again it may just be a fakeout), although I do remember reading a YouTube comment a few weeks back (long before "Sins of the Father" aired) that theorized the first part--that it's Oliver's son who's in the grave. This way, none of the core cast needs to die, but it's still someone who Oliver (and by extension, the rest of Team Arrow) cares deeply about.
